Hey everybody, 

Woodie's Character refresh is coming next week on Sept. 12th! You can find the details of his refresh below but please remember as always, some of this might change a bit between now and next Thursday. 

Woodie Character Refresh

  • In addition to Werebeaver, Woodie now has two new transformations that specialize in different things, such as combat and locomotion.
  • A random transformation can be triggered by repeatedly consuming Monster Meat (or prepared dishes like Monster Lasagna).
  • A specific transformation can be triggered by consuming one of the three new craftable idols made with Monster Meat.
  • The Log Meter has been replaced with a Were-Meter that appears only during Woodie’s were-forms.
  • The Were-Meter drains constantly, and Woodie reverts to Human form once it runs out.
  • Performing specific actions will extend Woodie’s time in each were-form.
  • During fullmoon, Woodie is forced into a random transformation (once per fullmoon), and the Were-Meter drains at half the speed.
  • Reduced Woodie’s sanity drain while in were-form.
  • Woodie no longer gains sanity when planting trees.
  • Woodie no longer needs to eat wood.
  • Woodie has a 50% higher chance to spawn Treeguards.
  • Like the Werebeaver, all new were-forms gain night vision and some weather resistance.

We had a lot of fun with this one and we hope that all you Woodie mains out there love him even more! Some of you out there might even find a new love for the Constant's coolest Canadian castaway. 

We also have a couple other interesting things happening on September 12th. 

Return of Them: Salty Dog

In addition to Woodie's refresh coming into the main game, the next part of our Return of Them content update will be coming to the beta branch (with Woodie playable there as well) on September 12th. We will have more details about it next Thursday, but in this update you will see a new boss, new items, a new creature and a new crafting resource. 

Console Update:

We have everything ready and we're preparing for console players to receive Woodie next week, but in addition you will also be getting Return of Them: Turn of Tides content as well! This has not gone all the way through certification yet, so it's possible it could be off a day or two, but at this time we don't expect any delays.  

As always with Console, this isn't entirely up to us, so we may get a delay of a day or two while we work through certification, but as of right now we expect this to release next week as well.

This rework sounds fun! I have two questions:

1) Will Woodie be able to change to a different specialisation while already in a wereform? It's not mandatory, but might be nice. If it's possible for other players to give Woodie one of those idols, that'd be lovely!

2) Are the idols made exclusively of monster meat, or do they contain some more thematic ingredients too? Such as logs for beaver, fish for grizzly, and egg for platypus. (The wereforms are not officially confirmed, I'm just using them as examples.) It would also let the locomotion idol be more difficult to get early in the game, so Woodie can't just swim to the moon island on day one. Locomotion wereform can swim, right? Right?!

hmm locomotive-were-chan maybe not train :D maybe woodie one of him form get wing and flying across the entire map (i dont know why am i adding flying all these chars )

i think badgers are more dangerous and aggresive than bears were-mole maybe ? dig a hole (like worm hole)

Personally ı dont think Woodies sanity gain from planting trees shouldnt be removed because it fits his character and it would make woodie kinda weak because he would have problems with sanity more than before early game.

It really depends on what ''lower sanity drain'' means

if it's like 10 sanity per say, a day then you won't need pinecone planting

If you don't think that it shouldn't be removed, then you agree that it needs to be removed.
But your argument again says the opposite of your meaning...

I god damn swear it : if there's a WerePlatypus and a WereGrizzly, I'm done playing anything else.

0.66% chance: You'll spawn a Treeguard with a chance of 50% if you chop 103.63 trees. (-50%)
1.33% chance: You'll spawn a Treeguard with a chance of 50% if you chop 51.64 trees. (Standard)
2.00% chance: You'll spawn a Treeguard with a chance of 50% if you chop 34.31 trees. (Woodie)
2.67% chance: You'll spawn a Treeguard with a chance of 50% if you chop 25.64 trees. (+100%)
3.33% chance: You'll spawn a Treeguard with a chance of 50% if you chop 20.45 trees.
4.00% chance: You'll spawn a Treeguard with a chance of 50% if you chop 16.98 trees. (+200%)
4.67% chance: You'll spawn a Treeguard with a chance of 50% if you chop 14.50 trees.
5.33% chance: You'll spawn a Treeguard with a chance of 50% if you chop 12.65 trees. (+300%)
6.00% chance: You'll spawn a Treeguard with a chance of 50% if you chop 11.20 trees.

Perhaps the reason why they increased the chance by only 50% is to allow Woodie to chop trees in peace.
Increasing it by 200% or more will force him to fight a Treeguard whenever he chops trees.

It's not tiny. 50% is 50%. If you chop 100 trees as Woodie, it's equivalent to chopping 150 trees as another character in terms of getting a treeguard to spawn. Also, Woodie chops trees much faster than others, so he makes extra use of this.
