Warts and All discoveries! Feat. Toadstool!

Recommended Posts

Unable to determine the effect at the moment. I didn't see any birds get near it, but that may be because everyone was standing next to the darn thing and wondering what it did. Also, they danced around it like it was some sort of God and others attempted to burn it down. It might be used to attract Canaries now.

Used to attract players. Like catnip. Mystery solved!

I have noticed that there are different strings for each character when the furnace is hammered. has anyone tried hammering one?

Doesn't do anything besides destroy the furnace.

I've got a question. Where does the scarecrow blueprint drop from anyway? ;)

Probably from the new Rare Blueprint that now drops off the DragonFly and Toadstool.

EDIT: Okay, I was a moron who was unaware of the bug at hand. My bad.

I've found a few interesting things:

Spoiler

"Stagehand" set piece:

stagehand.PNGstagehand2.PNG

Surrounded by 5 roses, with one in a vase in the middle.  Doesn't seem like I can interact with it.

"Suspicious Marble":

suspicious.PNGsuspicious2.PNG

Appears to be a clockwork bishop statue head.  Can only carry it on my back, when I do I move VERY slowly.  Doesn't interact with the stage hand set piece.

Could this be the beginnings of DST "adventure mode"?

I made a little arena with 400 tentacles to see if they could handle the toadstool.....

Let's math

Considering everyone has a dark sword, and it having 68 base damage. It would require 2301 hits to kill it. This is the same of 5 players killing a DST dragonfly(410 Dark Sword hits), EACH. all this under 5 minutes. Unless you have 782 gunpowder with you(easy to get, huh?) IIIIIF you even be able to make every single one hit the boss. just 750 means 6500hp left, not the best thing for a short fight. Of course, you could have 20 players join together to kill it with the minimal work of each giving 150 hits with a dark sword....if you magically find the lucky server with over 5 people that knows how to play...

Not counting with the sanity drain or the 100 base damage plus AoE attack it has

This translates to physically impossible in my dictionary

K, you guys can all play with Toadstool, I'ma poke some Canaries and watch them pop for my own sick and twisted personal enjoyment.

How cool would it be that if you played the Pan Flute or One-Man Band, instead of being put to sleep, the Canaries would explode, like in Shrek.

IMAGINE THE TRAPS YOU COULD MAKE WITH LINES OF CANARY CAGES AND THE ONE-MAN BAND!

IEB (Improvised Explosive Birds) are the new thing.

Those were all from the update before this one.

And all this... for a lamp.

Wait, wait, wait, what? It turns birds into other birds? :wilson_shocked:

Well you dont actually see them go poof into canaries, but they do change any crows that would spawn into canaries. I put it on barren turf because only crows spawn on that. I guess the point of it is to farm canaries and prepare for a boss fight in the rain??

Hmm, what do these do?

They don't seem to damage me? Is there something I'm missing. (And not even the Deerclops could keep Toadstool occupied enough to kill him.) I chopped em down and nothing happened.

20160923182923_1.jpg I'd hate to see when he's not friendly.

Well...

The Mushlight uses lightbulbs only.

But the Glowcap is able to change colors based in the RGB system, which means you can have a purple lamp with 2 blue spores and 2 red spores, a yellow lamp with 2 red spores and 2 green spores or whatever else you guys know you can do in RGB. Plus making all the other tones brighter by adding light bulbs.

@ExtollerOfTrolls The Sporecaps provide light, the more puffed, bigger the light radius. I guess they are supposed to get in your way, but also light up the area for the team that is fighting the toadstool.

The scarecrow is supposed to prevent crows from spawning(which allows a greater spawn rate for canaries)[needs confirmation]

The mushrooms on top of it's head seem to grow bigger the more shrooms are around and the quotes for the toadstool change as well to reflect that it's stronger. So they probably just buffs the toadstool.

Note: This also would require none of the players to have lag, or hit-lag. Which, if you've ever played DST, you should note that this is impossible.

Takes me 3,300 meteors to kill the damn thing.

If there's one way to get me to dislike things about DST - It's making them forced to have caves, or require additional player's help, as I normally play alone and there's no way in heckles I'll surrender my perfect hits for caves and having that tasty 50% chance to miss whenever I swing my weapon - Chances are with that I won't even survive to get to caves comfortably.

I guess once Klei realized that people could singlehandedly take on the ewecus and dragonfly anyways, they decided to make sure there was a way that it wasn't conceivable in the slightest that the new boss could be taken on alone. Unless, I mean, you tamed every single bunnyman, pig, rocklobster, and also the magic luck of the mighty gods@SethR, @JoeW, @Bigfoot, and @Kevin raining potato cup buffs on you while those extra 20 million unicorns fart all over all of you constantly and you also have purchased the beefalo armor DLC and are making sure the "Maxwell's Brown Thumb" totem is placed and fully active in your server - And you manage to get the final blow with a whirly fan.
In other words, it's impossible. Klei pls.

Also when I was playing around, I couldn't find anything to drop the blueprints for either the scarecrow, the other mushlamp (The one that's description is something about a lava lamp), or the scaled furnace. Maybe that's just me. Also, the console said it couldn't find the scaled furnace's blueprint after slaughtering the dragonfly.
