O_Atoba_Azul
Idea's simple: a sprinkler IT's a small structure made with 1 gear 1 doodad and 1 cut stone You add up to 2 watering cans to it, and it automatically keeps the tiles watered as long as it's filled, has a radius of 3 tiles. viberr
but how about a upgraded sprinkler? you would need some thelecite (maybe 2 -3)some gears and some doodads it would function like the normal sprinkler that you mentioned expect it can hold more water and has more range
ADM
That's be very cool, I really liked Hamlet's Sprinkler with its connection to water, all it needed was fuel, I'm fine with the watering can type as well, both are good concepts. https://dontstarve.fandom.com/wiki/Sprinkler

QuartzBeam
Honestly, I'm fine with the watering as it is. Like, sure, sprinkler sounds fun and all, but once you figure out farming, watering is the only part of it that cannot be reliably automated (though spring rains come pretty close). And even that is a pretty small time investment.
Hornete
Fools, real gamers would place a dwarf star and a burnable item at the center of each farm plot tile near the ocean and have spittlefish water the farm plots by shooting projectiles at smoldering items for automated watering Spoiler /s, I'm just joking of course. I think sprinklers would be great! Having to water several plots of farm soil can get a bit tedious i imagine.
Gabovisk
It could be a firepump update or use Spittlefish as crafting. His normal version could fill the watering cans.
AlexMachado
I totally agree, a sprinkler would be a really cool edition.
Bird Up
heck yes. I think the one thing keeping a farm from being manual-labor-free is the watering can. Lots of crops need water, and if you take that trip to ruins or w/e, it feels bad coming back to see dry crops. Zeklo
As long as the sprinkler takes fuel I see no reason why not. Though it would be a shame to make a semi-useful Malbatross craftable less useful...

I was thinking exactly this, I think as a crafting requisite it could include the malbatross can, so it's a sort of late game way to automate your farms. MrNaxeros
If sprinkler would be denied by Klei then I would also like to suggest a weaker alternative: A player powered water pump Get the player to pump and it will water nearby tiles to their max level. It would definitely be faster than watering them with a can one by one. Maybe it would have a radius of three tiles (six tiles diameter)
QuartzBeam
I dunno. Is it really that slow to water each tile once per stage? Then again, I've mostly been working with 2x2 farms... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaalso, you can technically water with a Telelocator Staff. Technically.
Ohan
Idk if a sprinkler is necessary i think it would look cluttered. 1 hour ago, QuartzBeam said: Is it really that slow to water each tile once per stage? +1 if you have giant farms maybe hold out for the DST equivalent of Dripple Pipes instead
ArubaroBeefalo
Watering animation can be cancelled to water the crops quick so idk if i want it. Maybe it could be a unique structure for winona

pedregales
I think just re-working the ice fling-o-matic might be easier? EDIT: does the fling-o-matic wet the fertile soil naturally?

No. As far as I gather Fling-o-matic has no interactions with new farms and moreover crops don't wither and become grass like they do now in Summer. The only -sorta- interaction I found is that it has an annoying tendency to get the Friendly Fruitfly frozen, who doesn't even have a proper freezing animation and sorta stays in place like a stopped frame for a few seconds. Psychomaniac
Then there should be a advance version of the sprinkler that not only water crops but also fertilize them. And a Gramophone that play "rag time" (for now, more record later) last for a day/per charge (Spin the crank gain a charge), tend all the crop in range. Extra music discs (except one for those who dont like to sail) could be hidden in some sunken chests and eventually excess could be given to merm/pig kings.
