Klei Halloween 2020 Costume Event

Recommended Posts

Halloween, like a lot of things, is looking a little different this year - so we’ve decided to do something new to celebrate the spooky season and help you show off your cool costumes!

Send us a picture of your costume or an image celebrating Halloween 2020 and we’ll send you a treat. If you don’t have a costume to share, just send us an image of something fun and seasonal.

For participating you’ll receive a random set of Halloween skins in Don’t Starve Together on the account used to submit. With your permission, we’ll share our favorites with the community.

RULES TO QUALIFY: Failure to follow the rules will disqualify the submission.

  1. You must be at least 18 years old or have parental permission to submit.
  2. The image must be your own and taken for the purpose of this submission.
  3. Your photo or image MUST include a handwritten sign with “Klei Halloween 2020” in it.
  4. No tricks for treats! You must “try” to have an interesting or funny costume or image. Low effort is acceptable, but try to put some thought into it!
  5. If you don’t want to post a costume, cool. Post something else Halloween 2020 related that follows the other entry rules. An Ingame Costume, Fan Art, Jack o’ Lantern or spooky scene. Make the community smile.
  6. All images must be PG - any inappropriate images will be deleted.
  7. Costumes aren’t required to be related to Klei or Klei games to get a reward (though they are welcome, of course!).
  8. Qualifying images will receive a reward even if you choose not to allow us to share them publicly.
  9. As with any community submission, event rules are subject to change.

The event has ended. The day 5 highlights will be posted about 11am PST on 11/02.

We will be accepting submissions between October 28th and November 2nd (Pacific Time).

Item rewards will be granted upon verification all the above rules have been followed on your submission. Have fun!

Tips for getting your submission approved.

  • The image should be made by you.
  • If it's an in-game screenshot say "Klei Halloween 2020!" in chat.
  • If it's a handwritten note on paper or drawn digitally, decorate your "Klei Halloween 2020" message, even if you can't draw. (You can get accepted just for the note!)
  • It doesn't need to be good. It just needs to be yours.
  • If your image has nothing to do with a Klei game, the note is the most important part for approval.
  • If you're just sending somebody else's submission, it won't be approved. Just doodle a thing and get some skins. It's easier than photoshopping somebody else's thing.

Nice lil event, I might very well dust off my tablet and try something, since years ago it was shelved alongside my drawing affinity.

The rewards are heirloom quality - so they can be unraveled at the Heirloom value to weave something else. If you like.

Could this be a possibility in the future as a method of gaining extinct heirloom drops via community events? By extinct I meaning skins like the Guest of Honor skins that no longer drop, or maybe some past loyal rarity skins.

I already have an art for Halloween with Walter, but now I'm confused...
Maybe just for this event to draw something new and funny... Hmm...
It's probably better to draw something new.

I absolutely love this event. Hope I can maybe participate! This event reminds me of the ooold halloween mod contest that was held way back in 2013 for DS. I hope Klei can host more wonderful events like this in the future :)

We are probably using this again in the future for fan art submissions and other themed events, yes. Not sure about the rewards yet, we'll see how this goes.

Got an idea on what I can do.

One question. Can the stuff that we use be used in other places?

I have an idea I can do with a pumpkin, want to ask my bosses if they want it outside(if not I might just keep it at my home)

Yeah, that's totally fine. The idea is that you're showing us something from your Halloween this year. So go for it!

You can submit that, no problem. I wouldn't complain about something new though. =)

Can the fan-art have self designed costumes for characters or does it have to be only already existing ingame costumes? e.g Totally Normal Tree Wormwood.

Yep, do whatever you like, just have fun with it!

Can multiple people collaborate together to make something and have each individual person submits the piece, or would only one person be able to submit the piece? I was thinking about collaborating with some friends to create a mod for DST (Which I assume is a valid submission? I was thinking we could take a screenshot showcasing the content of the mod in-game). Thank you for reading and again such a wonderful event!
