Which ported dlc character would you want

Recommended Posts

Either Wagstaff or Wheeler. I would like them to be added, but I also don't think they would really work.

Wagstaff would either be too much of a switch character, too similar to Winona (builds mechanical structures as their main ability) , or too op (all his structures are pretty low cost and the addition of a structure like the thumper would make him a better wood collector than Woodie and Maxwell combined). At the same time, his structures are a lot cooler than Winona's and he also plays a massive part in lore.

As for Wheeler, I think she would just be too op. You could instantly solo any boss the second you join the game with at least a spear. This is mainly because the bosses in Hamlet were designed to have abilities that are a lot harder to dodge with Wheeler and the bosses in DST weren't.

I agree with you on Wagstaff, He would need to have a major rework in order to not overshadow other characters.

Wheeler could work but there are some serious issues with her dodge and the horn. The Dodge in its current state is simply too good for most DST bosses, and I can see it giving Wheeler a decent advantage in PvP. it would probably need to be nerfed somehow, maybe by increasing the cool down timer? But that seems like only a temporary solution.

The horn could be used as a major griefing tool. Imagine a Wheeler stealing a stack of rare items and using it as ammo for the horn. Either the items that could be put in the horn could be limited or maybe a special type of craftable ammo made specifically for the horn could be added. The ammo would do more damage than any common item loaded into the horn which could incentivize using that instead of random items.

If Ported from Unimplemented - Waverly

If Reworked from Singleplayer into DST (Like Warly)  - Walani

If Ported Directly with a few tweaks/minor changes (Like Wormwood)  - Wilba (Maybe make were-Wilba's transformation last significantly shorter in DST as to avoid players wharfing down everything in the icebox, and display a timer maybe? Possibly even reduce the amount of extra time eating monster meat gives you? I found it incredibly easy to end up being stuck with were-Wilba for countless days.)

Imagine a Wilson stealing a stack of rare items and leaving afterwards.

They all have an already established fan base of people who want to play as them.

I love wheeler. As stated before if your a fan of some sw characters go play them there. That is what they where made for. Witch means that is where they shine.

It’s not the same.. Playing Shipwrecked means playing Alone without my friends, who I bought DST to play with & isn’t that the reason ANYONE bought DST?? To play DS but with Friends? on PC there are Mods that allow you to play with Shipwrecked, Hamlet, Gorge & Forge Related characters & Biomes.. But over on Console we will only ever get to play with that stuff If Klei decides to make that content officially part of the game.

I refuse to turn this thread into yet another of my posts campaigning for that type of content, But I Will say that IF DST is meant to be the Multiplayer version of DS that it shouldn’t be an unreasonable request.

And more importantly- people shouldn’t have to neglect playing with their friends and play Solo DS or Resort to using a Mod just to play as what could be their personal favorite character to play as. :(

I think I'd like Wagstaff to be ported to DST, mostly for lore. Play style wise, I feel like he would have a good synergy with Winona for building things, kind of similar to how Maxwell can use Wickerbottom's books. I'm not sure how else he would change to make it more balanced in DST and to make him more unique, though.

I haven't played Wilba yet, but I'd like her to be in DST as well. Her werepig form would definitely have to be nerfed somewhat to make it more balanced.

Wheeler is the one who I think would be the most fun, Walani is the one who I think would fit in the best with the current focus on populating the RoT ocean (followed by Woodlegs), and Wagstaff is the one I'd most like to see get the rework+cinematic+new skins treatment because he's full of lore.

I'm not really worried about Wheeler's dodge, because Wortox already exists, he has higher HP and I'm pretty sure he doesn't take damage to his armor while soul-hopping, and 20 hops per fight is pretty permissive plus it can be extended by carrying a stack of bees or killing any minions the boss may have. And while being a premium character might limit the number of people who use him somewhat, I still run into Wortox players fairly often on public servers and they generally haven't steamrolled every boss in the world by day 20. The Pew-matic might need a bit of retooling because it's a resource hog and that's more of a problem in multiplayer than singleplayer, but I think most griefing concerns would be quickly and easily solved by adding boss drops, ruins materials, and various other odds and ends with low drop chances to the list of un-shootable items along with living animals and one-per-world artifacts.

Walani would need her mechanics to be beefed up because even in Shipwrecked she's underpowered, but I have confidence that Klei would find something that fits with her character concept and makes her more relevant.

dst born to be played as a reing of giants multiplayer version, no sw or hamlet, these take place in far away lands and for the moment they can add more servers (even the ruins get reworked to be part of the 1st floor of the ruins). Meanwhile we can enjoy the differences between the multiplayer and the single player version because they are doing a great job with the changes and new updates that are so different to the old stuff

Maybe I'm just paranoid then, I think it's the fact that the dodge has infinite uses that bothers me. I still like the idea of a craftable ammo for the horn, but having rarer items put on an un-shootable lists would ease my concerns for griefing!

I agree that Walani would probably be the best choice given the theme of RoT. I'd loved to get some lore on her just because how she speaks always made me think she's from later in the 20th century rather than from 1900s thru 1910s like most characters seem to be. I wonder what kind of changes Klei would make to her, and how would they keep her surfing relevant?

Most likely Walani from the 60's/70's due to surf culture peaking popularity around that time, on a side note Warly's separation anxiety wasn't discovered till 1959 by John Bowlby; SW characters must be around the 60's, now to figure out when Wheeler is roughly

Yeah, but even in singleplayer the dodge has a cooldown, so she can't just spam it. If nothing else, she'd have to get the timing right. (And like I said, Wortox players gearing up for a boss fight can have more soul hops than they'll ever need if they fill their pockets with live bees; right-click murder a full stack and you've got an instant soul refill.)

I'm eh on the concept of craftable ammo, because being able to shoot random garbage is half the fun. Might as well just port over the Blunderbuss if we're gonna have a gun that needs crafted ammo.
