Balance/New feature

  • Rabid Beetles now have about a one day lifespan once hatched
  • Pig Bankers no longer accept Purple Gems. Their magic is too dark.

Bug Fixes

  • It is no longer possible to steal items from locked pedestals
  • Telestaff can be used from inside to outside and vice versa now
  • Fixed the draw order of regrowable vines - they were sometimes drawn behind the door.
  • Slurper can slurp Werewilba, but won’t remove her fur. Also, her fur won’t slip off when wet.
  • Fixed a rare assert when entering the world customization screen.
  • Gnats (and other light seekers) won’t consider Woodie and Wilba lights in were form.
  • Cave flowers wont light up if they have been picked when they “wake up”
  • Fixed a problem with Vampire Bats not showing up in the caves when asleep.

Ok people I understand that you're happy and all cuz you read "balance" and "rabid beetles" but here's the truth.

...which means that cocoons still will stay and stack all year round. Except that you can now trigger them and wait 1 day. If your pc doesn't explode that it.

Hey Jason, I appreciate the work!
I have a suggestion regarding rabid beetles. I feel like that's too much of a nerf, really. I believe the main focus was to improve performance and not decrease difficulty, is this true? I think a way better idea to do this would be to simply kill all rabid beetles when new eggs get spawned.

As far as I'm aware each humid season start every great leafy stalk has a chance to spawn several eggs. The problem was, imo, the fact that eggs were spawned every cycle (30 days) while already existing beetles stayed alive. If all the beetles would just die and stalks spawned new eggs it would work much better, in my opinion. Won't decrease difficulty too much but should fix performance issues.

Beetles dying day after hatching makes them quite silly. Well, depends if never loaded beetles die aswell or gotta get loaded first.
EDIT:
Right, they only hatch when loaded. So Szczuku explained it quite well, then.

So you can teleport to/from ruins/houses? As far as I know the telelocating magic in DS depends on lighting and so you cannot use it in caves. Kinda weird to make it work in ruins/houses.

I don't understand this one. By "waking up" you mean lightbulb regenerating/respawning, right?
It's a little bit confusing because in DST lightflowers actually can "fall asleep"/"wake up", and while they "sleep" they do not produce light even tho they are ripe. It's not a thing in DS (unless it just got added?).

Relax, you can still make teleports

Can you teleport bread tho?
For real though, I guess the gem thing is fair. It won't be as easy to get massive amounts of oincs now, but I can live with that.

"wake up" here is in game engine terms. There was a problem that you could pick a flower, exit the room, then re-enter and the light would be there. This was fixed

I don't think this is true... I'm pretty sure there is a cap on the amount of cocoons that can be around a Leafy Stalk at any given time.

Same here, purple gems from End's Well now are basically worthless. Hope something will be changed or the end's well would be improved.

you can give purple gems to the ends well to spawn nightmare creatures you can kill them turn the fuel into gems turn the gems into more shadow creatures still infinite cash you just sell the fuel instead of the gems now.

I always thought that the reason the end well give this many purple gem is for openly using telelocation at practically no cost. Since the components for crafting it (red gems and blue gems) are barely renewable if at all. And that telelocation is a very good thing in hamlet since the land is fragmented in useful islands.

Plus the buff telelocation got made me think I can just teleport to the calendar now. Which is incredibly good.

Agree with Szczuku. They won't be permanent problem, but they still will destroy jungle in that 1 day and destroy your pc. It look like glowflies cocoon off-screen probably to fix bug from before where they don't cocoon after first humid season at all. Think need them to not cocoon if ~100 cocoons in worlds by default already exist and old cocoons despawn if not humid season/turn to glowflies.

Keeping nightmare fuel... kinda feels more valuable...

Why not lower the payout of the End's Well instead of getting rid of that source of income? 1-3 gems per nightmare fuel is way too much and that seems more like the problem to me. Even 1:1 is pretty generous. You should change it to something similar to the normal Wishing Well ex: only having 60% chance of getting a purple gem per nightmare fuel. Why not add the rare gems with a .01% chance too, it would make the End's Well more interesting while fixing the "easy oincs" problem.
