Wicker (and later Maxwell too because he inherits everything from her) can mass craft electric darts quite early in the game, it would be one of my favorite weapons if it wasnt for the fact that its very inconvenient to carry. If it stacked "at least to 40", it could be an every day weapon.

that isn't a weapon?

Debatable. After it has been fully tamed, it kinda is one.

I vote for the classic spear, it is practical and simple to make. I know that after a while she becomes a bit stale, but I don't have to complain, as she always ends up saving me in a makeshift fight kk

(Apart from the goof skins that the spear has)

The ornery beefalo is better to fight than the pick/axe. It is literally a beefalo you have tamed by fighting every possible things. It is a weapon.

I really don't care if its better to fight with, it isn't an item. I don't include Wolfgangs fist here for a reason.

I would vote "Ham Bat" but the thing is it applies psychologival pressure on me by forcing me to worry about wasting it when i craft it, therefore making me think "okay i have to kill as much things or deal as much damage as i can while its fresh" and subsequently go on a path of bloodshed that ends in the deaths of countless creatures and eventually myself due to sheer recklessness

so i voted spear instead

Morning star. Cool unique gimmick, a bit more damage than dark sword under optimal conditions. Lasts a really long time since it doesn't lose durability for hitting things, which means you have 6 entire minutes of attacking. Saves you like 20 nightmare fuel and 4 living logs for just a single goat horn and some boulders.

Perfect everyday weapon for spring, especially for goose slaughtering. Good for toadstool if fought in winter. It's even good for dragonfly if you're willing to farm water balloons (cause dragonfly is the only mob that's affected).

The only downside it has is that it doesn't hit the 50 damage breakpoint on dry targets, which is only bad for hound attacks really. Any other fight you can just plan accordingly (rainometer mvp).

Spoiler

When is it going to get a skin though?

I really dont care if weapon is an item or not. Abigail is best aoe weapon out there.

weap·on
/ˈwepən/
noun
  1. a thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage.

I went with Thulecite Club.  The cloud buster sword skin makes it look HUGE compared to all other weapons.  The small speed boost and shadow tentacles make it very unique, even if they aren't super useful.

I do not use it very often b/c its not really a great weapon, just a cool one ^_^

Thulecite club. It does a little bit of everything. It increases speed, does decent damage, and has a special attack on it. It also doesn't have a sanity downside like the Dark Sword. I know the sanity drain isn't really that big of a deal, but it really makes it feel like an endgame weapon for not having a constant downside just for wielding it. It also looks really cool, it's not a goofy spiked tentacle or gross piece of meat...or an ethereal, non-existent entity like the Dark Sword. It's an ancient looking mace with spikes all over it.

Now if only it wasn't so expensive and impractical to actually use :/

I'd say Beefaloes technically count as a weapon AND armor, only equipped in your crotch XD
It is one of the "weapons" I find efficient, though also quite expensive in terms on investment

Never been a fan of the hambat, I dont fight every 5 seconds to make it worth, and not a fan of farming pig skins. I feel like they are too valuabe and use them on other stuff like saddle/ umbrellas/ or what not. ("but eyebrella is better" - yeah but its not easy to give eyebrellas to all 6 players on the first spring)

Dark sword for Maxwell coz it fits and he doesn't get the downsides

for everyone else, Glass cutter is one me and my friends really like and feel like is underrated. I usually find lunar island within the 1st autumn, and moon shards are just everywhere, including caves. and is technically a dark sword without the negatives, but less durability.

I feel like morning star/ electric darts with the rain book is a good target fighting style for wickerbottom

I love Walter's gold slingshots, despite most people hating it. Feels soo easy to kill mobs with it

dont have Wanda, but alarm clock seems cool

Tail 'o Three Cats was a really cool idea that I really would have liked to see improved. Shame the Bull Kelp was so fragile and the Alarming Clock just made any future whip concept redundant.

Surprised to see so little love for the Weather Pain. Its so unique in its ability without being over/underpowered and just a brilliant tool.

its a macuahuitl, an aztec weapon which i think was a really cool choice

it should have higher damage and, instead of that weird perk about aggro, make it so reduce enemy's damage

Wanda: Axe -> Hambat -> Alarming Clock

Everyone else: Axe -> Hambat -> Shield of Terror/Beefalo

Beefalo is not really a weapon but I still believe that it does fit the discussion here as players that tame one don't usually bother with obtaining other weapons for most situations.

Also I am a bit biased towards weapons that can be used permanently even when considering the cost it is cheaper compared to continuous crafting of weapons.

My most used are the dark sword, thulecite club, and ham bat (probably in that order) but my favorite is the bat bat. In addition to its funny name, it fills a unique role instead of just being essentially a reskin with different numbers like most weapons are. The healing is very powerful, especially on a heal restricted character like Wormwood or Warly.

Im a lil bit lazy when its about drain thiccc mobs likes bosses so I love tulecite clubs cuz the extra damage is good regardless  what char u r playing in the moment and has no other requisite despite getting one, so

It messes with  bee queen grumble's/klaus deer's attack pattern and not worth it in dragonfly but I use it for most of the other ones

Having an ornery beefalo is a waste of a potential rider beefalo. It only does 50 damage. Hambat at the start does more, thule club, dark sword, shield of terror etc. do too. Ornery beef doesn't seem worth it to me.

It literally has one speed less than a rider (7 base ornery/8 base rider) which translates to reliable damage even with gloomsaddler (10.8 speed ornery / 12.4 speed runner)

U can not only spend less armor but also kite with a much faster mov speed u could never on foot and I know whatchu thinkin' like "oh i dont need that much speed" till u have it and just ate a whole swarm of shadows for dinner in the middle of the ruins in a nightmare cicle withouth bothering to dismount

Plus bosses. U can actually have more dps than a char on foot if u cancel the attack animation correctly (68 damage x 6 hits vs 50 damage x 7 hits) for the majority of characters and it rules in fights like dragonfly. Ornery is always my preference but I see it being useless for the ones with positive damage modifier

more speed better tbh, you can just use weapons.

just dont get hit so you dont need armour and idk what youre trying to say.

you can animation cancel with actually characters too btw.

I really like tail o three cats the damage can be pretty ok if you use it with the celestial crown. IDK why wanda is the only character who can use the alarming clock though, they could have easily made it so she's the only one who can refuel them and is the only one who gets the old lady bonus dps.

It's basically just bosses where having more than 50 damage matters (one thing you listed even does 51, as if that matters). If you are fighting bosses a war saddle will bring it up to 66, more than a ham bat and practically as much as the much more expensive and inventory consuming dark swords.

Blunderbuss, loved that thing in hamlet, but other than that beautiful armament I'd choose the glass cutter, very easy to make compared to the dark sword and the durability isn't an issue if you just use multiple, good against the chess pieces too.
