What do you expect to see in Craft UI update?

Recommended Posts

I'm am so excited, I think it will look better and maybe we get customisation for scroll speed? I like how so many cool things will happen this week it will be awesome. Who's Lila will get released in 3 days. Right after that will be JoeW's big announcement. There's going to be a big party at Saturday, you want them all to be there.

I just want this clutter of tabs at the bottom when using c_freecrafting() to be gone. Way too many tabs in one place.

yeah at the minimimum i'm expecting it to work like singleplayer when there are too many tabs. Like nested tabs.

-The beta coming out soon will require a lot of testing

It's not impossible this is gonna be a complete overhaul of the crafting system. Not only of how it looks but also works, to the point our ideas of favouring and sorting the recipes might not apply to the new idea anymore.

Resource balancing? Finally, cobblestone turfing won't destroy the entire don't starve together economy.

I want something like Ark Survival Evolved or Conan Exiles where I can assign a certain thing I’ve crafted to a certain button configuration

for example Holding LB and pressing X after I assign a Spear to that Slot will equip the Spear OR Craft a spear after the one I was using broke.. as long as I have the resources for it.

Because scrolling through my Inventory/Crafting Menu is about as much fun as watching Wolfgang stand around pumping Dumbells to get Buff.

I would love an event tab or a decoration tab.

The structure one is just immensely huge, some important crafts are right at the bottom and you have to go through all the different Winter Feast / Year of the Something / other things that makes so many unimportant things (aka ruins furnitures) show before better structures. But I'm only wishing for this if the UI itself makes having tons of tabs something not-so-noisy.

(also would be cool if they take a short day update the Scarecrow UI)

I want the new UI to have a quick way to see what can be made out of a given material, as well as a way to highlight new learning blueprint recipes. That way I don't have to explain them to my newbie friends every time.

I think that's is an amazing idea, such blueprints can really give players a sense of wonder thinking how to get these mysterious crafts, eventually leading them to engage with appropriate bosses, tasks or areas.

Ah, you may have misunderstood me. I believe that one of the purposes of blueprints is to control what new players need to do to know that a recipe exists, so that they don't waste energy on unnecessary or far-fetched recipes. I just want the player to be able to quickly find the new recipe after learning the blueprint, without having to go through every category to find out what they learned.

Oh sorry about that, but still good idea.

honestly the crafting system is the least thing in need of an update, i personally would really like to see a combat system overhaul, with balance changes to weapons/armour, bosses, enemies, etc. blow darts are never worth making unless you're wicker with a read trap, cookie cutter helmets genuinely serve 0 purpose, the cat tail whip does too little damage to ever consider being used, plus costs cat tails which are a pain to get.

A lot of these could be soft-refreshed with the crafting UI tbh. I kinda hope they do- a rehaul to the base system is a good excuse to go back and rework some of the lackluster items and adjust at minimum their craft requirements to make them work better. Hell, maybe toss in a few new ones that don't really fit to add in other unrelated updates. After all if you're reworking the whole system, why not fix up some of the other leaks the old one had.

Anyway, I think the biggest issue with the crafting system rn is that its not nearly as organized as you'd want it to be. Some items are placed in fairly weird spots, you can't tell where new blueprint recipes even went, and the organization within the tabs is kinda sloppy too sometimes with pretty commonly used structures and items sometimes being weirdly far back. And yeah, the tab crunch at the bottom makes freecrafting kinda unwieldy too, but also I know thats not technically part of the 'proper' DS experience.

Def curious what kinda major overhaul they have in mind for it- maybe a search for the extra lazy?
