Comprehensive Player QoL Wishlist

Most of this will reference my older suggestion threads.

-Survival/crude decorations like tied-up grass/logs, simple bench, axe in a tree stump. I don't mind existing decorations but for the love of God, Klei, give us something else than constant statues.

-(As a start, since QoL updates are usually small) Give Pigman ability to harvest plants for example Berry Bushes. Just copy (with a slight change perhaps) Pearl's code.

-More idle animations for creatures 

-More variety in sprites of natural objects like boulders or grass tufts

-A proper 'Throw Overboard' action. As of now if you want to throw something in the sea you just get a regular 'Drop' prompt.

Here are my three wishes:

Please remove the inventory limit for DST drops on steam. If you own too many items and the DB query exceeds 1MB then all other items you got won't appear in your game. Those can be elegant skins you wanted to use or even the DLC characters which you can't use then until you reduce the amount of items in your inventory.

Please give us a meaningful way to cure diseased plants with a craftable item or something instead of just having to dig up the plants on time. There exists a mod that does this but I'd like to exist that in the vanilla game, too. Until then every of my worlds will have disease disabled.

Please give us more options to prevent and extinguish wildfires in summer. I know people use oasis or cave bases for that but additional options would be nice if you want to have bases somewhere else and not move for summer. Since Mossling egg duping was patched you could give us a rain staff that makes it rain for a few days. That way you could prevent wildfires from happening for a certain amount of time instead of carrying a luxury fan for emergencies.

I decided to take this opportunity to use my old ideas.
In caves, it is very long and boring to run, and sometimes you have to run around these dead ends to get to another place. This is very tedious and wastes time that could be saved on something more useful than just running. On the surface of the world there are similar areas with water, but there rafts replace bridges. So why not make the bridges for the caves? (Using a Lazy explorer is expensive for such needs.)

And one more thing...When you have a lot of resources and you need to use them for something...It takes too long...

Make the two items crafted from Cat Tail be less expensive or more usefull.

As it is right now both are extremely expensive, especially considering what they do.
The Tail o' Three Cats - an underused and niche effect item - needs 3 Tentacles Spots - a somewhat hard to get item - to be crafted.
The Cat Cap needs 4 Cat Tails to be crafted, Cat Tail is an item that drops %33 of the time when you kill a catcoon so you would need to kill an average of 12 catcoons to craft a single Cat Cap - an item that has the same insulation factor as an Rabbit Earmuffs: 60.

It would be nice if those items were less expensive to craft, for example: The Tail o' Three could cost 2 less Tentacle Spots and 1 less Cat Tail while the Cat Cap could cost two less Cat Tails and one less Silk.

Well that's the whole idea. That's why Winona has a perk that lets her craft stuff faster. Although I agree that it'd be nice if we could just select 'craft 9 boards' and the character would do that without us having to spam click 'craft'

Hi everyone!

If I'd had a change to change something small but annoying thing in the game, that would be how obtaining the Desert Goggles requires mostly just dumb luck. If you're really unlucky you have to spend half of your first summer by the pond fishing and praying you get both blueprints before hounds or the sinkholes find you. Also the Fashion Goggles could use another purpose than just being used to craft a better hat with it and then forget about it entirely.

Not sure if this would be better for a general QoL update or as part of a Webber rework, but I wish he could bring underground-dwelling spiders to the surface again like he can do in singleplayer RoG. Some sort of spider live-trap item or making Webber alone able to retrieve live spiders from the existing traps (and then murder them in inventory if he just wants the drops) would do the trick; I'm not asking for active followers to start following players across shards. 

I personally would like better interaction with setting mobs on fire. I find the concept very underwhelming and risky, especially when you both need to be in an open field (as to not set everything else on fire) and must be careful not to kill them with fire as it will turn their loot into ashes. People will often choose to not wear Scalemail as a result, and Fire Darts / Firestaves rarely get crafted due to the penalties. Maybe an item that counters this concept could be used in tandem with fire weapons/armor.

Tamed beefalo shouldn't produce manure, atleast not while riding. Also rot that's lying on the ground should disappear after a couple of seconds similar too ashes. I like having my world as clean as possible and having to pick up all of my beefalos manure or all of the rot from seeds all the time is just annoying.

Bridges, as seen above. Great idea for cave. The same for main land but the opposite curve. Different types, wood, stone, marble. Time would slowly destroy them and we'd have to repair them.

Improve the sea chests loot.

More specific items for boat life. Let us forget the firepit. I would like a new heat source where we'd able to cook too. A kind of small furnacle.

Farming desperately needs a rework. It is not worth it, leafy meat and stone fruit have rendered farm plots and even Wormwood useless. How about make it so each seed yield 3 crops? Either simultaneously receive three crops when they sprout, or once one is picked, the next crop will begin sprouting until all 3 crops are picked from the plot. 

 

Or how about make seed bundles a tradable commodity? Akin to Pearl, the Pig King could have dialogue and quests requiring the player to build up the Pig Village, some of these new buildings could be shops (think Hamlet) that would have seeds for Dragonfruit, Potato, Chili and etc. Two birds, one rock slingshot round. Farming would be buffed, and the Pig Village of the Constant would finally evolve and have a purpose other than getting gold for eggs. Both features need to be fleshed out, it's long overdue.

Waves jones should despawn it you’re not on the boat. Don’t let him ruin our stuff when we’re half a screen away and can’t react.

boats are very expensive and time consuming. Sailing is way less fun now, and I loved being able to use my boat with an anchor to bridge gaps in maps with branching. Now we can’t, and a replacement boat just for that costs a ton of resources.

Fixing the color correction of shadow creatures during certain phase of day. Terrorbeaks and such become virtually invisible during dusk in forest and it becomes a guessing game at this point. As compared to savanah where you can see them a mile away.

I made a similar suggestion but thought that the rot should disappear after a longer period of time, 30 days or so sounds good.

New QoL Addition-

“Rescue Me” Server Option.

This is an Option I have when hosting a server, and CURRENTLY I’m not sure what this button even does because it does not APPEAR to do Anything.

But I know what it SHOULD Do, this should be like State of Decay 2’s “Unstuck Button”

A Button you press where the game will ask the player to hold their position for a few seconds and it then relocates them to an available area, in SoD2 this is used to unstuck a car youve crashed and cant get out of a ditch or something... but In DST this would make the Bone Cage Grieving or for that matter any other form of trapping another player grieving completely Obsolete...

and If no other suggestion I’ve ever made qualifies as QoL- Then THIS SHOULD.

1. Allow fish to be taken out of Fish Scale-O-Matic

When I want to put in other fish in Fish Scale-O-Matic, I have to break it.

This is uncomfortable so I'd like to suggest function that allows player to right-click Fish Scale-O-Matic and take out a fish.

2. Ban player who is not currently in my server

Sometimes I can't ban troll. because he left my server before I ban him.

I don't want to see him again, but he has to come back to my server to ban him.

so I suggest adding function to ban someone I met in Encounters!

3. Change Shop UI

We're getting more and more items in shop.

How about subdivide filter?

4. Show items detail

Sometimes I wonder what item is this skin applied to?

I guess it from item thumbnail or have to see belongings list.

this is uncomfortable so I want to add a list of items in the Chest even if it's brief.

when you click '?' button,

I think this function can prevent purchase mistake.

My wishlist:

1 - Fix the flingo to not let crops wither in summer, and also give it more fuel capacity (allowing it to last longer);

2 - I'd really like to have more craftable turfs (like a golden turf, for instance), or at least some skins for the carpeted flooring;

3 - Archipelago mode in gen settings, and more tweaks in general;

4 - Some way to destroy the Dangling Depth Dwellers Web Dens, at least outside the labirinth, or maybe make them reset with the ruins, but let us get rid of them somehow (I have a cave base in the blue mushtree forest and the dwellers are just a massive annoyance).

 

I'm not a english speaker, so if i miswrite  something, please let me know.

5 - Refillable salt licks, please! 

Empty bottles should have a more practical use then just being used as a Currency you can give to Pearl. I think they should be used to allow you to capture fireflies for a faster dying but easier to craft Lantern (a light source in between full Lantern and Torch) 

AND they should also be used as an actual FOOD Preservative.. as in with a single jar you can stack 20 honey or 20 fistful of jam inside and store it into a fridge to keep these items fresh longer.

Honey or Jam stored in a Jar wouldn’t be detected by Bearger when it comes searching for Foods.

making empty message in bottles have more practical uses beyond just trading them in to pearl for fishing lures.

My QoL wish:
1. Disease: please give us some way to deal with disease in game. It can be a spray to cure it, or at least something to warn the player if something is starting to get disease.

2. Beefalo taming: please reduce the amount of time to tame beefalo. As it is, taming is a pretty big commitment (at least 15 day) yet can be pretty easily undo because of a bugged out salt lick.

3. Merm King & Sunken chest : I like Wurt character a lot, but again, Merm King require some hefty commitment, but trading a fish for some rot doesn't feel rewarding at all. (maybe add bull kelp stalk or drift wood to the loot table?)

4. Player profile: have slot to save the player profile presets

5. A cook book: not necessarily an in-game tab or item, this could just be another tab in the "Item collection" screen. This could show the statistic of what type of meal the player have cooked and its recipe. This will surely help the new player as they learn the game, and the veteran can get some extra self-made goal to strive for

  • Wormwood shouldn't loose sanity when being hit by manure from Splumonkeys, considering the facts that he already smears poop on his face to fertilize himself and gains sanity in DS: Hamlet when digging through a Dung Pile.
  • Reduce the use time of Compost Wrap for Wormwood (by changing its animation to the same one which is used by manure), the current version makes it useless during fights, and outside of fights Tents can be considered as a better solution.
  • According to Wurt's quotes when getting wet ("Feels good on scales!") and the fact that compared to other characters she doesn't loose any sanity at all when drowning, she should be immune towards the insanity effect of wetness or wet clothers, or have her quotes changed.
    • Same for Worm Holes, unlike other characters she doesn't give negative comments but says just "Wheeeeee!", making an impression that she enjoyed it using the Wormhole, despite loosing sanity.
  • Wurt can't befriend merms with lichen despite being a vegetable, because lichen doesn't have the 'tradeable'-attribute.
  • If the King of the Merms is alive and e.g. a hound attacks a regular merm, nearby merms and Merm Warriors will start attacking the hound. But that's not the case if the hound attacks a Merm Warrior instead, which won't trigger any merns at all.

          My QoL wishes:
 

  • WX-78 water inconsistencies: When playing WX-78 only rain and drowning causes WX-78 to short circuit. Other forms of wetness do not cause him to short circuit like Water balloons, Ice Cube, Fashion Melon, etc. I would like this to be fixed so he can short circuit from all sources of wetness.
     
  • Better Paths: Paths in the game generate in weird and messed up shapes. I would like if paths would get an update to them so they generate much less wonky and more uniform. I would also like if they have updated art, mostly for dirt paths since they look more like the left over tape residue than an actual dirt road.
     
  • Better Farming: I would like if farming was more fleshed out than how boring and tedious it is, it would make characters like Wurt more fun to play as with more farming mechanics, i would love things like tilling the ground like the gorge and multiple harvests from one crop. Its more worth it hunting for meat and having huge berry farms than growing crops.
     
  • Better Dishes: I would like if the underrated dishes would get a buff or a simpler way to make them easier. Dishes like Guacamole, Fruit Medley, Mandrake Soup, Turkey Dinner, Waffles, Unagi, Fish Tacos, and Kabobs.
