Nerf deerclops

Recommended Posts

I swear everytime i die by its hand is just plain unfair. He has 4000 HP, his attack is unavoidable and deals ****ton of damage, and you encounter it during winter. What the **** were they thinking? Giving deerclops eye a very usefull use as well. No matter what you do and what you try, he always **** everyone up. Just nerf this ****, i want to use his eyeball but i cant because of how stupidly overpowered he is. Or just remove him and his eye from the game all together.

Deerclops is very defeatable if you develop a proper group strategy. I once used the werebeaver's agility to keep DC's attention while Wigfrid managed to dodge behind him after every few hits. A third player set and reset traps, ignited gunpowder and blew a few darts.

Then we all died to lag :)

2 hits and run.

75 damage is not that much. Its a bit more than half of most characters' hp. Now that's without using armor.

4000 hp is nothing compared to the hp of the rest.

Deerclops is a pushover. He seems scary at first but then you realize he's as threatening as a very slow dog.

I just get it to attack other creatures (treeguards and tentacles in particular), and spam it with darts and what have you from afar. Then, it's a matter of luring it onto a field of tooth traps and finally a bit of kiting with a tentacle spike, LOTS OF HONEY POULTICES and bacon and eggs. Last time, I was with a friend and some other guy, they were arriving to the place of the battle when the beast fell.

I was playing a character with 111 health.

I understand how fighting Deerclops can be frustrating, but you should reconsider your plea. It just takes a bit of practice.

The easiest way to kill him yourself is to wait for him to attack, dodge, get close and hit him 1-4 times (the more hits you go for, the faster but more dangerous the fight is), dodge again, hit him, repeat, repeat, repeat. Speed is a great advantage while you're trying to dodge and get close: you can switch between your weapon and a walking cane to make it harder for him to hit you, or just fight him on a road if you lack the cane. Make sure you're wearing armor and have something to heal yourself, as well as sanity-restoring items, since you might go insane mid-fight. It's also very useful to disable movement prediction.

Here's a gif to make it clearer:

Of course, you can also get him to fight other mobs and set traps for him.

Anyway, I think enemies in a game should not be nerfed or changed unless they're immensely powerful and there's no skill-based way to defeat them. It's very easy to claim something is overpowered without doing research on its weaknesses or trying to discover different ways to counter it. Just gotta do your homework.

Deerclops is 2-3 hits, then run away, then run back, 2 hits, run away, run back, 2-3 hits, run away, run back. However, with a walking cane and really good timing, you can land in 3-4 hits without taking a single damage point to yourself.

I actually play alone so much, that fighting deerclops with other people messes up my mind's internal timing clock for kiting, as it adds more flinch animations and he follows people besides me meaning actually managing to land a hit on him without him landing a hit on me is impossible.

However, when alone, here's what I use:

-Walking Cane

-2-5 jerky

-Tam o' Shanter

-Dapper vest

-Dark Dank sword

While you can use other weapons that won't throw your sanity into the pits of hell for deerclops, they do less damage. Also, feel free to do whatever you like, but I advise not using the thulecite club(it's shadow tendrils), weather pain, or morning star seeing as those tamper with how long it takes for him to reach you/attack animation.

Of course, you could always just run away. That works too. Just know he'll come back after a while of being left alone, so if you're losing so horribly, just leave him alone for a while, and he'll come back around.

Again, using the method I always use, I can flatten deerclops in a less than a minute without taking a single touch from him. If only I figured out how to do it with dragonfly....

My instant reaction:

But if you are really serious, Instead of insulting and raging, you can search on the internet for tutorials and guides or ask for help nicely.

4000 hp too much? *ahem* Dragonfly. (27500 hp)

And yeah he's probably the easiest Giant to deal with, can just lead him to a killer wasp hive location or something. But even Wes can kill him just fine with proper preparation unless you're on a server with horrendous amounts of lag.

I agree with this, but IIRC, his range is bigger in DST (attack intervals longer too). Couple that with latency and the timing isn't exactly like this.

But yes, Deerclops is very possible to defeat. Work together, bring honey ham, jerky etc to restore health if you need to, lure him into other monsters, cheese it with the pan flute/tooth traps. There are a lot of ways to bring him down.

At 500 ping I dont see this option any better tbh.

You'll at least see what actually happens.

I'd take seeing myself dying and knowing what killed me over guessing what did because the game won't actually show me that any day.
