      UPDATED - Studio Note & Rhymes with Play Streams Temporarily Canceled.   03/06/2020

      UPDATE (3/19/20): Just a quick note regarding the team at Klei Entertainment. As noted previously, everybody at Klei Entertainment is working from home due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Many of us have been working especially hard to help maintain operations as we all move out of the office and into our homes and with everything being done online, extra time must be spent in organizing conversations and trying to maintain communication. As some of you may know, we have a very open office and we are almost always in contact with each other as we go about our days. Some of us work across multiple teams and that work has become a bit more challenging for everybody.   That being said, at this time the transition has not caused any major disruption in our operations, but it would be overly optimistic to expect that we won't have any delays at all. We're going to have to be especially mindful about this in the coming weeks and make sure we don't take on too much work so we can keep things running smoothly.  We will let you know as we see how these changes affect our timelines.  Thanks UPDATE (3/10/20):
      The test yesterday went well. We got the whole office (mostly) to work from home without significant issue. As a result, Klei Staff that can work from home have been asked to do so until further notice.  This means that we will have to cancel the Rhymes with Play stream until we are all back in the office. This shouldn't affect anything else at least in the short term, but if things change I will update you all here.  Original Post: Hey everybody,  This Tuesday March 10th, 2020 the entire staff at Klei will be working remotely for 1 day in an effort to prepare the studio to work remotely for a little while if the need arises.  Klei is already set up pretty well to allow for working remotely, however we are going to have a one day "dry run" with the whole studio so that we can identify and avoid any issues or downtime that may arise should choose to implement a work from home policy due to COVID-19 outbreak concerns. Unfortunately this does mean that we will be canceling the “Rhymes with Play” Art stream this coming Tuesday, however unless the situation changes we expect everything at the studio to be back to normal Wednesday and we’ll continue our regular stream schedule Thursday March 12th. If the situation changes at all, we'll let you know. Thanks for your understanding.

  1. If you've got no pressing distractions, feed him every time he opens his mouth. Stop when he doesn't. If you've done this at least once a day, you're fine. If you can't be bothered, put up a salt lick and park him by it until you're ready again.
  2. The random hound attack audio warnings seem to be silent for me right now. I was playing some of the retrofitted worlds I brought over earlier and was caught off guard by the ambush multiple times. There was zero warning in the audio department, and being that I was playing as Wes, I didn't get that heads up either. When I switched over to a different world (another retrofit that I decided to reroll since I was gonna get rid of it anyway), I waited to see if this would be the case here too, albeit with a character that would give me a text cue. Same thing happened, complete silence leading up to the hound attack, but at least I had the text warning. Going to do a bit more research that I will edit in later if I just needed to verify my files, if this is just limited to my hosted worlds, etc. EDIT: File verification turned up clean, and hanging out in a public server for a bit still yielded no audio cue for the incoming hound attack. Thankfully the depth worm warning is still functional.

    There are ways to avoid or slow the Fuelweaver besides teleporting out of the cage. I am in the crowd that welcome this, it's supposed to be a final boss of sorts, let it act like one.

    So, just wanted to give my quick hands on for the request to use retrofitting on non-beta worlds (with advance notice that I didn't play as much of the beta as I meant to). I did it two ways: the recommended way in the OP of the thread here, and the other by copying + moving only the folder containing a non-beta world to an empty slot in my beta folder just to see what would happen. Results: 1) (Unrecommended way) Quick copying the world folder to the beta folder's world storage resulted in the game thinking the slot was empty... UNTIL I tried to "create" a world in-game, after a couple of seconds it started actually looking at the files, and I was able to start it normally. I had no character data for the world, but everything was intact, retrofit took hold, and everything seemed to be in order over on the Lunar island. 2) (Recommended way) Doing it via the suggested means, everything seemed to work as intended, character data was fine, it retrofit as you said it would, and everything was again, present and accounted for (to my knowledge anyway). I played for about 7 in-game days, no crashes or abnormalities. Interesting(?) note: The Lunar island generated in the same spot after retrofitting both ways. Near as I can tell, everything was identical, no randomness in location or entities surrounding.
  5. Buddy, lemme just tell you right now that quoting Polygon of all places isn't going to earn you credibility points. Same goes for quoting some random German site on the revenue split that literally everyone knows about and has known about for ages now. Epic has been dropping the ball on a lot of things lately, most notably of late their first store sale, with quite the manure-storm soon to come from all the E3 stuff that is happening/happened. I agree the response to this particular one is a bit overblown, but let's be real here, Epic is not the good guy right now, and at the snail's pace they're working, probably won't be for a very, VERY long time (if ever).

I was thinking about that too, but let's not get ahead of ourselves, it's an alpha going there first (which... do they even have forums yet on that bare bones joke of a store?) and if you support them there you get your proper Steam version for beta and final release. Honestly this seems like a win for everyone, you get Steam regardless, and they get the cash upfront from Epic to continue their day to day with zero affect on their customers, whom they are still very clearly respecting. From this point of view, it really is a brilliant move.

  8. Is Wormwood one of those things that will be granted if we don't own Hamlet by the 6th? I've been digging through my backlog so I haven't been making many purchases lately. Just want to know if I should bump that up on the purchase list.
  9. Any hints with regard to what kind of character traits to expect with the premium ones? I'm sure nothing is set in stone yet, but is the team aiming for challenge characters, for fun, teamwork centric, total chaos...?

  12. Lure Plants giving ton of leafy meat

    Would like to also add my voice to this one, been using a lureplant to farm a half stack of grass on one of my worlds. Been getting 2-4 leafy meat every time I break the bulb. Counted the grass to make sure it wasn't turning into geckos each time. Lureplant is simply giving strange amounts of meat.

(I'll try to update this as I discover more to tell about these bugs) Animals tend to act quite unusually with sleep when it comes to a world with perma-darkness set. - Pengulls will let you murder the entire pack with next-to-zero repercussions - Beefalo can occasionally "detach" from the herd (despite still being in the herd) and allow you to single them out without the others coming after you. We're talking attacking them right in front of the other beefalo (while they are in heat), no kiting, gimmicks, or other antics. I don't know if the sleep flag is overwriting something, but they stop acting predictably and I'm not really sure if the behavior ever reverts.

  15. You know, for a character who dresses like a farmer but works as a librarian, wicker's fancy skins really give the super-upper class socialite vibe. Also, Deerclops now shoots lasers? I approve, especially how this makes the game logic for Houndius Shootius now sync up.
  16. I can think of a pretty glaring downside to Winona - No balloonomancy, guess she's not unseating the current best pick any time soon.
  17. I'm sorry for keeping this guy in discussion here, but the amount of misplaced anger being focused on something that doesn't deserve even a modicum of it needs to be addressed. There's always going to be "That guy" who makes all of us look bad by being some outrageously entitled crybaby, but complaining about something that is genuinely just trying to help continue funding without asking directly for donations is pretty low. Ask yourself this: Would you prefer loot boxes and gambling? Crates and keys in a non-F2P game? Pieces of content based DLC being ransomed behind a paywall? I would certainly hope the answer is a resounding "No" as these are some of the most abused practices in the industry right now, but this is not happening here. They're upping the drop rates so that people who enjoy playing can get these pieces without spending a cent if they don't want to. They're encouraging people to play for longer periods of time beyond just being eligible for more drops in a given week, AND rewarding skillful play in new events they want to add to the expand the game. You can't just lump everyone trying to make money into the same pool, that's not only unfair to those trying to earn it honestly, it's taking the attention away from those who abuse it to nickel and dime their customers. No, no you didn't, you did not make your point in a way even remotely resembling any definition of the word "polite." There are constructive ways to do this, and there are emotional knee-jerk reactions like yours. Sorry again to the rest of the forum-goers here who want to voice their excitement here, I want to as well, but reading this guy's response prompted this first.

  20. Zombie Beefalo

    When you use a non-violent means to wake up a beefalo at night (beefalo horn use, setting something on fire next to them, etc), they will get up and go through the behaviors like they are awake - walking around, grazing, and so on and so forth... BUT they seem to retain their sleeping flag even though they are clearly not. Trying to feed one will result in your character giving their line for when you try to use an ineligible interaction on sleeping animals. (NOTE: This was only tested on wild beefalos)
