Ellilea Posted July 18, 2019 Share Posted July 18, 2019 Something I've been wondering for a while. What makes Meep and Stinky favorites for so many people? Why are others obsessed with Nisbet? Is there some dupe you always take on or reject no matter what? What breeds your dupe love? What fuels your hate? Tell me, for I must know. It's time. Me, I never take on Stinky. One, I like to be contrary, two, I rode on too many buses not to smell him through the screen and I don't want to torment my other dupes. I also tend to avoid Harold, I think. The one with cheek beard. It rubs me the wrong way. I like two and a half: Stinky&Gossman were my miner/builder duo on the first asteroid where I knew enough about the game that I got to cycle several-hundred. This is purely situational but watching them clear an entire biome on their little ladders, having them end up in sickbay with slimelung together (this was before Klei gave duplicants a terminal case of AIDS) was just pure satisfaction. Now every time I can print one of them it makes me smile inside. Only once did I manage to repeat their miner/digger skillsets, that was even more... anyway, I coded onto them and now they live in good times parts of my brain. Apart from them it's Travaldo, I think I just like the name and the description. If I'm to be honest I don't even remember how he looks like. I don't dislike any of them. I only print what I need if I need it and that's that. Mae and Jean are the hardest workers, Gossman cooks like mad, Otto and Stinky try hard, but end up in trouble much more often than the others. Also, both are handy If I have to perform any horrible experiments involving dupes. BTW, does anybody know why you cannot get Meep as a starting dupe? I filed a bug report about that way back, but they just closed it as "not a bug". Other than that, I prefer the females. They strike me as clearer personalities somehow, probably just because of more variations in the haircuts. Bubbles as main researcher, if I can get her, but that is a weak preference. Gossman for anything. Somehow I do not like Mi-Ma, no idea why. Stinky and Harold already have heavy pattern baldness so any excuses like "they're young clones" obviously don't work. We can't have an Einstein dupe without the stache. He looks so happy with the sunny mind extension from the brain-thing (Have forget the name)! Why Nisbet? Because she has red hairs I love that! Why Banhi? I love the Haircut and I remember the animations from Klei. Frankie is a character I don't like. Why? Don't know. Maybe, because he looks a little bit creepy. And Meep is fine too, but maybe the people associate "Meep" from the "Meep" of the series "Amercian Horror Story season 4". That was the little guy who eats the birds heads. Just joking, that is of course not the reason! Don't know what they love about Meep or Frankie. All in all it is all about their looking or through the Klei animations. I don't really like Stinky, except he's one of my starter dupes in my freshly-started colony after my last one died a heat death because I did not read the effects of the polymer press xD, so it's not like I actually pay much attention to my dupe's faces. I like Harold, but Gossman is somehow always allergic and thus keeps reacting to germ-filled oxygen. Abe was my first researcher, and he still has a soft spot in my heart. But now it's super quick and easy to make very versatile dupes so I had to give up on it. I might just like them because they're architects. I think my favorite is Ruby, and to this day am bitter that I can't give her the hatch-leather jacket she wants. I generally don't like Jean and Otto, but the two of them have been really good as a pair of mechatronics engineers this playthrough, so I may have to reassess that. Meep invariably gets assigned to regolith shovelling, regardless of skills or traits. And then thrown in magma when I designate too many priority 9 digs and he doesn't have time to get to it he's too lazy to do his damn job.
