If the background had been pink or another pastel colour, and there was no meal wood next to it, then sure. The reason I think/thought it's trompe d'oeil is the faded yellow hue of the canvas looks like a typical trompe d'oeil paiting where the painting is painted to look like it's on the back side of the painting. We did however find the probable original for the pickle jar painting already. Look at the pointy teeth and round, stylized rendition. vs Those are common decorative elements. The most satisfying example I found is a concrete sculpture made by Picasso in Kristinehamn, which is part of a series named Les Dames de Mougin. Notably, the new stone statues are : - The Discobolus of Myron, ~450-460. - David, by Michelangelo, ~1501-1504. - Maybe the statue of Eros in Piccadilly Circus? But the wings would be missing. Spoiler And we got new fabulous marble statues, including a real guardian lion statue. Looks like the theme for marble statues is mythological creatures. The other ones are metal statues representing some of the critters and a moon-shaped small statue variation.
