maybe it's just me but I don't like the new boss design, it just not feel like don't starve at all. The other bosses somewhat have a bit of horror feeling, like an abomination, a mix from other creatures or straight up an evil being like the reanimated skeletons. This boss looks like a golem from another fantasy game.

How would you improve the design...? What would a mineral based creature from the moon with the items you've collected over the course of ROT look like?

gonna have to strongly disagree here on every level, but if you want to see consensus a poll would suffice no?
I personally love this boss, for its attacks and its design and each phase's looks.

Oh yeah, the picking animations add up. Would be nice to have an auto-picking construction.

Nobody likes going through 60 grass tufts and hold space for 10 minutes.

You add a new character? Cool, but does it have 5 skins, and does it have 20 unique items that alter the gameplay in a big way?

Does your content still carry the entire game with a "fresh" feel after playing for 100 days straight?

And the most importantly, is this mod compatible with my Don't Starve dishwasher after 3 years while a thousand updates have been released?

Hmm, well you do have to do a lot of super specific tasks which take a long time to complete.

I would not call that literally "grinding" as in, doing repetitive tasks.

I was not saying I'm agreeing or disagreeing with the guy, though. I said that what you mentioned totally needs to be addressed by the devs in future updates.

If you have to look so hard for people that hate the boss design maybe the majority of people think it’s fine or good and if that’s the case I don’t think it should be changed.

I am a bit disappointed with the update, let me state my reasons.

  • Firstly Klei has mentioned earlier that there will be  only 3 content update this year. The content is entirely locked behind a grind wall and the quests are just too repetitive. I expected a bit more content.
  • The update adds adds nothing to the base game or mid game which the majority of the players play.
  • Then it doesn't add any new mechanics and the fight is just another damage sponge fight. The toadstool or the fuel-weaver had their own fun mechanics and preparation. 

Maybe the caves and farming update raised my expectations a bit too much.

Ofc doesnt look like the other animal based bosses, is an alien boss. His desing is exotic but i think it fits the game and i dont think it is lame

Its funny (a dont starve thing) to see a ball with legs trying to kill

 

What i dont get is what falls from the moon because the boss is made of the altars, the moon seed and the mysterious energy so i dont see nothing different that could be fallen or sended by the moon

Also, if this is the champion from the moon, who is his owner/boss?

There was this other thread. I can't remember the username of who wrote it for the life of me, but what they said does make sense, so the owner is probably this Alter guy.

I like most of the content, nice work!

Just have two things want to mention:

1. I think the icon of moonstrom on the map is too cheap, I want something more stylistic.

2.Acient fuelwaever drops three outstanding triphies, can we have more powerful triphies from the celecstial champion?

I though Alter was some kind of pun between altar and alter (change) like the moon does with some stuff

the problem with the boss is just the bullcrap design actually, the attacks and other stuff don't run much away from don't starve patterns as the own design does, and yes i have an infinite quantity of better boss designs than, that literally any boss design that isn't as bad as that one is better than that, that's just a polygonal model from starfox from snes with floating leg things that transforms into a fireball with an among us shaped shell and then a giant torch with floating pebbles THAT ENRAGES ME SO FRIKKING MUCH PLEASE TELL ME WE CAN SAY SWEARS HERE this boss goes really far away from the funny and funky designs from don't starve and goes to the insulting and lame side

Ever heared of constructive criticism? It´s fine if you don´t like it, but please have some respect of the hard work behind that boss. 

I also don´t think this is the perfect update I have waited for, but no reason to say it like that. 

But yeah... the haters gonna hate...

oh boy and how much i hate that design, every criticism is constructive at all, but sometimes it goes more to the bullying side, similar to how my criticism was before, the design is the only problem with the boss at all, but it's still a huge problem they're basically bigger altars, have they used any dr doofenshmirtz inventions to get big or what?

is true that this is a desing inconsistency but the boss desing is very good. We are have tastes and is okey if you dont like it but your comment is just dropping manure nothing constructive or a reasoned critic

i like the old sci fi vibes of the 1st phase which fits with the songs of the altars, the 3rd phase looks like somekind of material godlike which is epic

not all the bosses can have moose goose face, there can be epic ones like kleus, fw or this celestial champion

it's an offense for klaus to be compared to a ball with floating crap in terms of design, which will be the next boss? a cube?! like just a cube that floats around and make magical crap to attack us?! like if it were the most creative design possible for a boss, way better animated than the magnifying beasts this game had as giants, which the fact of being idiot puns of animals names make them funny and comic aswell, but making a boss design that lame goes from funny and comic to lame and insulting, i hope this is the last time i gonna have to talk about my opinion in this boss which i find way too true to be just my personal opinion

I don't think the characterization of this new boss as not 'way better animated' than the giants or as a 'ball' is accurate. For one, you may have missed the 2nd and 3rd phases aren't just spheres. And if you want, we can make a thread on silly ways of describing all the bosses of dst, starting with your example of klaus as 'angry santa' and fw as 'sentient skeleton', or the ancient guardian as 'rhino but round'. 

Also I think we'd all be more open to taking your views more seriously if you wouldn't word your response as angrily, shouting insults and saying that your opinion is 'too true to just be your personal opinion'. And repeating over and over again that you don't like the boss isn't constructive criticism.
