If Hamlet came to DST would you enjoy it?

Its not impossible but everyone in the community both in and outside of the forum would probably have to want it. There would have to be a massive outcry for them to even consider it due to lack of resources (A team focused on porting and a team updating DST so it doesn't die).

Joe has said that porting things over would take a very long time. Dst would probably stop getting updates for a year if the whole team focused on porting.

I think we should leave Hamlet behind and focus on the new. If there is something in particular that you like from hamlet then it would be better to start there. If you like the Pugalisk then it would be better to ask for a new worm type boss for the upcoming summer solstice event. Antlion is already a bit like the Mantqueen, minus the minions.

Depends on how it's added.  It would be cool if it was like caves but you needed to build something to get there.  Yet I doubt that would ever happen since lower end computers are already struggling to play the game as it is.

Only as a separate variant of the game. I would hate it to just be added in to the world that already exists- I want it to be separate, without the option of going into both normal world and the Hamlet one. Because I was just thinking of making a cute neighbourhood for my friends and I to live in and how houses would have set permissions who can and cannot enter, but it's just some solid game breaking stuff that's straight up too big to be put into the game as an update.

A separate game mode though, where you start in the jungle that could be expanded by adding lunar content and aporkalypse waiting to happen, gathering hulk pieces with friends... Sign me tf up.

They should focus on creating new content for DST, instead of bringing old ones from DS. That will leave incentive for players to visit both single-player and multi-player depending on which content they wish to play instead of splitting the community even further between the players who enjoy playing Don't Starve or Don't Starve Together. I don't see it necessary to explain but adding Hamlet in DST will have disastrous consequences, it will be the final nail in DS's coffin, leaving those players, even if they are few, who enjoy DS to feel devastated. Do you REALLY want that?

If you think about it Return of Them's ocean content was like another version of Shipwrecked, so it wouldn't be much of a surprise if they add something similar, but not identical to Hamlet in the future.

I'd rather they use concepts that worked in their dlcs instead of straight up porting content. At minimum I would like interiors to make a return, and at maximum I would like to build a city with interactive npcs like Pearl. But if I really want to be honest, I would prefer they focus on a new experience for dst as a whole, such as an entirely new overworld.

As much as i would love to make my own house and decorate it and show it to fellow players, i don't think it would be healthy. Imagine trying to find an item like a deerclop's eyeball in a base made from houses. Also the permissions - could you destroy someone else's house?

I'd love the fog and hay fever though (or some other kind of sickness mechanic).

Also, the pigs as NPCs and to an extent the whole city could work. But only as an event.

...So my opinion is: mostly anything, just not the houses.

But yeah, I'd rather see some new fresh content. Even if they just used the Hamlet ideas and changed them t ofit DST, similar to DS Wormwood => DST Wormwood. Like a single traveling merchant pig etc.

I wont enjoy a game that is already made. Also i wont enjoy it being ported with all inbalance and bugs neither an adapted for multiplayer version instead of fixing the one that already exist

Im sorry to say that is absurd

If I want to play Hamlet I'll go play Hamlet. I don't see why Klei should waste a bunch of developer resources porting already existing content instead of making new content.

Ya never know :)

I’m curious to what “extent” people want these DLC’s compatible with DST.

For me it’s pretty simple:

Things I want from Shipwrecked- more boat types, more fleshed out ocean content, Palm Trees, Snakes, Palm Tree Guardians, Poison damage over time Mechanic.

Things I Want from Hamlet: Gas Masks & Gas Mask Biome, Pog, Piko, Scorpions, Dense Jungle with hostile plant life.

As far as having the entire dlcs being compatible with multiplayer I would rather they just went back to DS solo and added 2 players Coop to that.

Klei has decided to focus on DST and it would make no sense for them to release more DLC's for DS and keep splitting the playerbase. So it seems like DS is probably finished.

It is possible to say that DS has shipwrecked and Hamlet content that we are missing in DST but we already got something similar to shipwrecked already as much as it was possible in DST, i just don't think that DS has enough content anymore to warrant you to play it over DST.

It would be great if there was Hamlet port or something like it in DST but it is just too different compared to base game, so there's probably no chances of it happening. Shipwrecked is also kind of the same, we can never have ports of these 2 DLCs because they are their own separate games with their own themes that won't work if they are all meshed up together.

The oringal dont starve sucks. DST alone is better even when the oringal DS has hamlet and shipwrecked in it. TBH supporting singleplayer dst is a waste of time. Just only support dst. Its the optimal game.

Saying it sucks is a bit much. Lots of people including myself still find DS superior to DST in a lot of ways especially if you do not care much for multiplayer. A singleplayer Don't Starve world with RoG+SW+HAM all combined in the same slot with merged crafting is a completely different experience from DST, and arguably more meaningful content that isn't just tailored for multiplayer. More importantly, thanks to world merging, different mechanics from different DLC's can all interact with each other which kind of becomes the end game. Singleplayer also has endless materials thanks to the teleportato affecting individual DLC worlds and resetting the cave/ruins layers.

(Day 1000 RoG world for example)

Regarding Hamlet in DST, I don't see how they can do it without severely neutering down what exists in singleplayer. and/or re-doing it completely.

Take the slanty shanty for example, the buildable player houses. Standing inside one gives a sanity boost like a tam, and charlie can't touch you at all while inside. If hounds or a giant are getting ready to spawn and you are inside, they will wait until you go outside to attack.

Those aren't even the biggest plus sides though, interiors in DS work like pocket dimensions. Even if you destroy a house the interior still remains, every item, mob, or structure inside an interior is effectively immune from harm aside from something stupid like Krampus or a lit up mob following you inside. That's because all interiors in a world exist in one specific spot outside of bounds, and are flipped through as needed depending on which structure or room the players enters. How does that work with multiple players now? How would it handle two different players in two different interiors? How many players at once could this handle?

Just one of many things to be considered if they were to do it.

I didn't know Opposite Land had internet access.
