Why was Metheus so Awesome!

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

Let me first congratulate the DEVS (except @V2C because of no Disease Cure :wilsoalmostangelic:) on a really good New Reign DLC full of content that got to us for FREE.

I'm here to say why i loved Metheus so much. I mean yes, the puzzle Art was Awesome, the fact that you needed to work with someone else was amazing, the references to items in DST that force you to go together into a world, to the ruins, to unlock your new skins is amazing but that was not the best thing.

The Best for me was the 11 second video that came with it. The fact that we know that we are getting new content to this awesome game maybe even this year, who knows. We can now speculate what can or can't be, but i'm sure it will be not less as awesome as ANR was.

Believe it or not, the fact that knowing something will come after ANR makes me wanna to continue to play this game a lot!

Best Regards,

Glermz

I felt a little underwhelmed by the fact me and Pyr0 spent three days under stress trying to solve a puzzle only to get a 11 sec teaser but I guess that's the key word "teaser", so I'm hyped for the future of the "What lies beyond" arc. Does this mean new characters and creatures?

Well i hope it's not a Free DLC. I hope it's something who brings a LOT of new things, specially if it's a New World! Different Seasons, Maybe Magic Ones, a lot more items and crafts, characters and hopefully a progress mode. Will see. For Now i'm just happy that they already have a project ;)

Hopefully it won't be the last thing that comes for this game. I love the devs, it's so nice to see they always work for new content and project those puzzles, really add the mistery-factor to the game. I wouldn't even mind to pay for new content honestly ♥

Are we that sure we will have a lot of new content ? I mean, it could just be the end of ANR, no ?

They ended the New Reign by releasing it. This was the year were we got to see how Charlie messed up the world, next we will most likely go to her true Kingdom of Creations.

We can all speculate, but i think we will embark in a new World with a lot of different threats that will culminate with Charlie!

In resume, i don't think it will be a patch just to finish up some loose ends.

I hope you're right that it's an announcement of something new,  and I would be more than willing to pay for it. I would have paid for ANR too, by the way. I can't get into ONI, but I've been playing DS for years and would love to keep on.

I don't think it's a whole new DLC(Seems a bit ludicrous, DLC right after a DLC is finished. Klei ain't turning into EA anytime soon). It's likely there's something new coming.

Either way, I hope they keep true to what Fuelweaver already easteblished, about the Gateway(It's not a way in. It's a way out, for whatever's on the other side, implied to be "Them".).

Really amusing how these compliment posts show up, but once again they completely ignore the seventy five percent of the experience which was legitimately just tedious, awful and meaningless.

Waiting several days for a pointless wall to be drawn.

Jumping through dozens of hoops in sync with a partner in an abhorrent guessing game; and if you fall it all gets reset.

Numerous progress breaking glitches that flat out stopped people from progressing, or forced them to reset everything again.

And the final progress break that caused pretty much most of the community to not even see the final video and background, which is still broken here.

Yeah, really, the puzzle itself; eight out of ten it was something clever and neat. The arbitrary waiting period, the poor and obnoxious hoops, and then the numerous obvious glitches. One out of ten experience the reward was the only thing that made it feel even remotely okay in the end. That quote unquote puzzle was waste of time and emotion.

A game meant for fun and relaxation should never make a person have to do something like that just for new cosmetic item.

Would of gladly just PAID THEM FOR IT with cash instead of blood and time.

I didn't have any problem with the wall thing. Maybe because i was seeing it for a distance, instead of searching something, but for me the wall was just a nice thing.

I didn't finished the puzzle yet, i must admit i would have liked explanations about the fact that there is a limited amount of tries in the part 2 but guess it's normal because of the discovery part. But anyway, maybe the need of a partner is a little frustrating but it's also what make the puzzle so great for some peoples, so it's not an obvious answer. I usually prefer to do things alone, but a sharing part in a multi game is not absurd.

Seeing the excitement and all the sharing of information was pretty much fun.

I have the feeling that people maybe hoped too much about some parts, resulting in disappointment. I don't know.

Of course, some problems, like the technicals ones, are reals and frustrating. But 75% of tedious awful and meaningless, it's not true for me.

It more than likely will be free seeing as to how this is a multiplayer game and they already said they didn't want to divide people by having dlcs that keep out non dlc players that are friends, and even if they made it so only the host needed it, it would still seem like a unnecessary payment.

With all the blood, sweat and tears this took (I will never play mastermind again), the Man Versus Machine (or more aptly Men-Some-of-Whom-Are-Superior-Automatons-Versus-That-Crazy-Puzzle) was inspirational. Beyond that...

I don't know what is it with you, but every single post I see from you is full of hatred, negativity and anger. Multiple people called you out on it, yet you still continue being a jerk to others, developers and basically the whole game and puzzles within it. Instead of appreciating that developers put time into something amazing, like these puzzles, you literally spam every thread with your personal problems with it. You don't have to play or solve any kind of puzzle, if it annoys you so much that you have to attack anyone with a different opinion. No one cares and the forums would be better off without people like you.

I found it annoying trying to find someone to team up with me to do the 2-part puzzle on the website

But when I asked @AmaLee she didn't know about the new puzzle, so I asked her if she wanted to do it with me and she agreed, and I'm very grateful for that.

But, please, can we avoid any future 2-player puzzles, I just... don't wanna go through all that again... please...

I know 99% of you disagree with me and you'd love to see cooperative puzzles in the far or near future, but not me. The Cyclum puzzle was much more fun and I'd prefer that than the Metheus puzzle anytime of the day.

But, the truth is after I passed the 2 parts of the puzzle on the website and I started trying to decode the symbols and put the specific items in the Sacred Chest, that was fun. I'm sure Klei can do something like that with the chest again, but with only one player.

I really feel like this puzzle was quite well designed (aside from the bugs), and balanced in what it gave to players:

• The updating wall helped to stagger the puzzle, meaning that people had a longer period to find out about it. Some people don't check the forums that often, so this gave them a chance to get involved.

• As annoying as stage 2 of the puzzle was, it adds the feeling of actually accomplishing something when you solve it. Again this caters to the people who are disappointed that they missed out on solving the puzzle in previous years. Even if someone comes to this puzzle long after it's finished, they still get to do some active decoding (rather than just reading a wiki page).

• It allowed all the people who were disappointed that they missed the tragic torch skin another shot.

• It offered lore to those who wanted more lore. Seriously, there's a lot there for anyone willing to look into it.

• IMO, translating the runes and deciding the number system was pretty fun.

• It gave two fantastic new skins to people who like the skins system.

• It left us with a teaser for things to come.

The mural emerged over the course of -- what, a weekend? It's true that people go very worked up about it and lost sleep, but I don't really see how Klei could be blamed for other people's lack of perspective. it was a tease, but not an egregious one. Obviously, many on the forum got a kick out of cooking up various theories and interpretations of the mural and the obelisk plaques as the images emerged and I suspect that lore-lovers really find that more enjoyable than being given a cut-and-dried answer. It's like being an archaeologist. Artifacts don't explain the culture that created them. They have to be interpreted by scientists.

The other puzzles were fun, apart from the bugs. The scramble to find partners via the forum got pretty chaotic, and mine is currently AWOL so I haven't even gotten to the chest yet, but stage 2 of the puzzle was a logic game, not a guessing game; it's literally Mastermind. Fortunately, I have a partner who is a master of deduction, or it would have taken much longer. I really like the way the chest puzzle got everyone to work on decoding the murals and the ancient scripts. It was a cool way to weave the lore into the actual puzzle solving, and a lot more integrated than just clicking on the flowers in a comic.

I'm also really into item skins, so the rewards are very appealing to me. If only I could get the bottomless pit skin, though!
