I read your initial post and see no difference between this post and the weekly post of how terrible the game is.

if you hate it that much, don’t play. Ggs you beat it! Don’t come here and piss in everyone else’s cheerios because you ain’t getting what you think you deserve.

Who is baiting anyone? I very much enjoy this game and I largely don’t agree with what you find faults in.

I am not saying you shouldn’t have an opinion, you are entitled to your opinion, but it comes off as pompous and arrogant.

its like the dude last week who made a poll where every option in some form or another was “this game sucks”

If you genuinely aren’t just baiting then I apologize but how can you call someone pompous and arrogant when a lot of your posts in this thread have been devoid of any actual arguments and are just insults? You even said you don’t care to see others arguments, at that point why even try to discuss anything? I really don’t get the hate towards mega basers in this thread. I myself am not a mega baser, but I can realize how, without reliable counters, things like hail damaging mobs only really effect mega basers so I don’t get why we can’t just have better counters to it, or why it’s a hot point of discussion in the first place since it is again something that seems to mainly only effect mega basers not “survivalists”

Survivalist have this idea that the game must be the way they think so when a player comes with a different playstyle that doesnt involve being virtually tortured with no way to stop it they inmediately complain on the forums about how forgiving dst is

What can I say? :D You killed her. She absolutely no-go for this late game content, she is pathethicly weak and not worth picking in the world anymore.

Spoiler

mmmmm self promotion

imo the only thing she needs is 25 extra planar damage to the reaper when old (pushing the reaper over 100 damage on all planar enemies). planar damage destroying her is kinda fitting for a glass cannon

i also made a spreadsheet a while ago showing specific numbers for her damage with this proposed buff cuz i was bored lol

I identify myself as a casual, even with the thousands of hours I played; but things like turn off rain with umbrella, turn off thunder with rod, turn off wildfires with flingos, turn off boulders with pillars seem pointless. I absolutely enjoy the game more being able to turn them all off, but building stationary objects gets old fast, and with the fresh threats nullified, I'm left with the stale status quo.

I know there's fresh bosses to fight, but I prefer more focused and accessible games, I am just never interacting with Pearl again, never building a second moon station, jumping through random tentacles; it's just too much time spent not doing things I enjoy.

You know damn well that Wanda will be brought back by her skill tree, because klei loves artificial 'anti power creep' for something that was never power crept and only introduces power creep to that system

Oh, and Maxwell's puppets too. They'll probably get planar damage and the ability to mine harder materials like Riftstals.

Not like Maxwell really cared about Rifts in the first place though. No amount of Planar Defense stops him from completely stunlocking bosses with the shadow prison. Or keeps him from decimating entire forests in about 5 minutes. Void gear even counts as a high-tier shadow equipment for buffing his puppets!

Perhaps.. or maybe some people actually want new weather seasons, or new mobs that are going to always be a threat regardless of what biome or what stage of the game they’re at.

MAYBE some of us want something to challenge us Directly by forcing us to play the game in a different way such as having mobs infest our crops, or having to wear Acid protective gear while exploring the cave systems, so THEN the game makes you have to choose between Acid Protection or Armor (until you can craft enough umbrella’s) Do you take health damage from incoming Worm Waves while wearing Acid Protection? Or do you Armor up to deal with the Worms while now also having to take into account the rain that’s literally eating through the durability of that Armor?

Its something that isn’t a completely optional boss fight or biome you’ll visit once to get idk say Salt Box & then NEVER return to again…

Permanent Solutions reverses the game back to its previous state- sure there’s a few “temporary” annoyances, but comparing Brightshades to spawning wherever they want, to having “Brightshade Be-Gone” spray so they just never spawn where you spray period is just silly..

You add a challenge, & then you immediately remove it.

Then the game goes back to being “Conquered” after you survive Summer all over again.

Some people actually enjoy being unfairly punished, like that’s literally the entire definition of a RogueLite/Like video game, the odds are almost always stacked against you, and a lot of times your barely going to scratch through on low health.

I do not get that kind of rush of adrenaline from fighting STATIONARY Bosses, or needing to fire off a Hostile Flare to get something to attack me.

But.. if you let a Ink Blight Trio spawn, on top of an Incoming Depth Worm Wave, On top of losing Sanity, On top of Acid Rain trying to destroy my gear and do me in..

you get the idea by now right?

I think in the lore Wanda is trying to correct the timeline, but a part of me thinks she herself is the very existence who disrupt the balance of this universe

Mike, why do you just not use the solution of the challenge? Previously you said you dont want to defeat bosses because they make the game easier with their drops, why cant you just not use their drops? Really curious btw

I bet you Mike would say something like "I can just not use it, BUT other players on the server can use it, klei should make the ability to use anything into world settings.":wilson_wink:

I’ve fought bosses purely just for decorative boss statues. So sometimes I actually DON’T use their loot drops, but that is just how I feel like playing at any given time.

I’d even fight Nightmare Werepig more often if he had a cute pet den creature variant.

But.. could you imagine if say for example: there was a boat structure you could’ve crafted in the shipwrecked DLC that let you smash right through ocean waves unaffected by it? What good would waves or Monsoon season even be with that? I like to have at least a FEW things still constantly challenging me at all stages of the game, even if I beat the final boss ever.

I think mike you need to stop playing wendy. She is great for fighting spiders an hounds on console but she is crippling your ability to learn how to fight end game bosses. Wurt is a great character for console players. Big stats with merm king allows for really good tanking with the option of using merms for some fights like bee queen for easy jellybeans means she is one of the best characters for console users to play as.

Wolfgang or winona are obvious choices too.

Willows ability to use big bernie to defend against shadow monsters during boss fights means she is better at using strong armour/weapons like night/dread armour and dark sword/bat bat. So she is a pretty good wendy alternative that has abit more flexibility to learn fighting without the 0.75x damage and you can use bernie to farm spiders and defend against hounds pretty much the same as abigail (you only need to hold f/attack button beside bernie which is the difference)

I understand this completely, if you want to play that way then you go for it, but what is stopping you from not using these things that take away challenge

If you want to get destroyed by lightning dont use lightning rods, dont want to preserve your food forever, dont use bundling wrap, want boulders to destroy your base, dont use pillars

Want brightshades to infect your world, dont use brightshade repelent

Yeah, it's like those challenge videos where you can't do x thing to beat the game.

If you want more challenge, you can restrict yourself of certain things.

and for that we have a wide character pool plus world settings, we can start new worlds to repeat the funny parts of the early and mid game or challenge ourselves with new world settings. DST has a lot of replayability, thing that doesnt goes against being able to enjoy a lont term world

what makes no sense is to force players to drop a world because is getting barren and the builds needs to be reconstructed, no with how klei have been changing things to improve the sandbox experience like adding pure decorative items, making more stuff renewable (like catcoon dens, change that was purely aiming old worlds that werent able to experience year of the kitcoon), making bosses with loot that you can farm instead of killing them once (except CK...) or not wanting to follow every other sandbox lineal progression so players can repeat old content even in lategame

Wait, they already can? Well damn. Point proven then

Ryftstals arent exactly a "hard material", but they do knock you back and "stun" you when using a regular pickaxe. You can see one of the shadow maxwells doing the same thing in that screenshot.

I'm assuming you mean "true" hard materials that wont break no matter what unless you have the force to, like Daywalker's pillars or the Dreadstone outcrop.

Ironically this goes both ways with rift content.

Also I don't see the point in constantly taking jabs at people who don't want the game in your approved style. I mean it's weird how much you guys are against game feel and atmosphere when it comes to designing you'd think megabasers would be all for those sorts of things.

very simple, nobody is against it unless is more the harm than the benefit. Why adding something that would create huge limitations while bringing very little to the table.

Nobody complained about acid rain because it didnt limit anything, it just affects player stats and food. Why there arent snurtles dying cuz acid doesn't allow them to develop their shell? why arent rocks dissolving and other effects caused by acid? because isnt worth, for that nobody care

srly, i dont get why is that hard to understand and more when isnt a mechanic that you could argue that increases the difficulty... is starting to feel like a joke, seems like you are just defending it for the sake of it without a real reason behind

the other day the hail helped me to kill a hound wave.... just pathetic and, as said by other users, rifts creates barren biomes because destroy things like boulders or spiky trees...wow such atmospheric mechanic, creating an empty flat terrain so we can appreciate every little turf's details without anything covering it..
