TODAY'S Klei Fest "Big Announcements" Speculation and Discussion

Klei Fest is next week and Joe has teased "a few" "big announcements" for us. So all aboard the hype train and give me your thoughts on what you think is most likely going to get announced. 

Remember Klei Fest is a celebration of all of Klei, not just DST. So keep that in mind with possible suggestions.

it's gonna be something big, like new game/DLC maybe even streaming show like you said. I'm sure a singleplayer DS DLC is an impossiblitiy at this point. It's also fairly likely to be DS related since biggest IP and all. I honestly have no clue what it is but I'm sure about what it isn't.

Klei would have to be absolutely crazy to not provide at some point in time an optimized version of the game for PS5 & Series X/S

They have even officially gone on record once or twice stating that the PS5 would be fully capable of all the features PC has (Aka Larger Worlds and Higher player Capacity) but Sony refuses to let them add anything to the game that wouldn’t also be possible on PS4, Thus- Until they release a brand new Next Gen Version….

Last Generation Consoles are Quite literally holding back the New Gen Consoles- So I PRAY it’s an announcement on that front.

Or maybe that they’re adding Gorge/Forge as permanent additional game modes.

What I hope it is NOT is any announcements related to DS:NewHome.

I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of complaining the forums would see if that happened. Klei has very little to do with Newhome development-wise so it’d just be weird too.

They have pickaxes in forknight so it's the only logical assumption.

More accurately, Both games are now owned by Tencent- And therefore a Collab between them (as well as Rocket League or Gears of War) is possible.

People seem to think that a collab with Fortnite would be bad- and I disagree fortnite has skins for pretty much every popular game, brand or upcoming movie released.. why? Because Fortnite probably pays a good amount of money to use them and/or the other companies pay Fortnite money to promote their brands/products.

Either Way- who are you to dare to deny me the rights to run around in Fortnite as Wilson with a Tentacle Spike or Hambat Pickaxe skin?

Also I would 100% reinstall Rocket League if DS/DST skins/decals were available for cars, I could just picture it right now: A turbo boost that screams like living logs that leave maxwells sinister face in the trail of tire smoke that has characters/images from DS/DST.

Who WOULDN’T want that?

in fact some video games (for private personal non-profit use only) allows you to take a picture of something and upload it as a vehicle livery- I have done this before with the Lanyard I bought on Klei shop and the in game vehicle turned out looking Incredible.

As far as what those two franchise can add back into DST.. do they really even need to? Wouldn’t finding a Rocket League car as a trinket be enough of a collab?

If they absolutely HAVE to add something though- I want the pocket rift from Fortnite so Wanda isn’t the only character who can use portals.

Klei's latest game was released 3 years ago that is a long time I think it is time for us to get a new game, maybe it will be a game based on that game jam Klei did last year.

I would be happy for more gateway arc events and/or lore on it, or just some bug fixing in the singleplayer game.

I just thought of another possible announcement thing: Netflix television series that goes alongside the game.

Anyone every played the now Cancelled Defiance video game/Tv Series Hybrid where the actions you did in the game effected the show and the actions in the show effected the game?

Basically that… but where Defiance failed miserably at it I believe that Klei could pick up the torch and carry it to victory.

”Technically” Klei already does this to a very limited Degree with each new update + Animated Short= It shows what’s going on in the world through a Animated\TV series then an update is done to the game itself that reflects that an example being:

Chunk of moon falling from the sky crashing in ocean washing Wilson and a hound fighting over a large meat in a massive tidal wave then we see Wilson build a boat and explore to the new moon chunk.

This is exactly what the (now completely cancelled) Defiance did but DST does it to a much much lesser extent.

For example: when Defiance the TV series and game aired side by side there was an update to the game where civilians would lay in bed sick and screaming out in pain that they’re sweating and burning up, this had no major impact on the game until that week/month- The TV Episode shows those same NPCs animate into zombies and start eating everyone, throughout the episode the live action cast of characters went seeking out a cure for the virus outbreak and try to find out about its whereabouts, THEN after this TV Episode has aired the game is updated and a full out zombie invasion has spread across the games map, this remains like this until a later tv episode where they learn how to cure the infected but can’t get the antidote- Which then the game gets updated again and the Live Action tv series characters would show up in the game (as game characters designed for the game) and they would tell you they need help obtaining a sample or whatever- you’d then go around the map killing enemies/fighting the evil people who caused the outbreak and getting the cure handing it over to the TV Actors to complete the quest- AFTER You do that the next TV episode will air showing you (a live action version of you covered from head to toe in a shrouded hood so the character never needed to actually look like your in game character) handing the anti-virus over to the TV shows Actors- the episode plays out where they track down the bad guys you discovered beat them or whatever, cure the outbreak and after that episode ends the game is updated and the limited time Outbreak has concluded.

The reason this TV Series/Video Game series FAILED was because if you only watched the show or played the video game but did not tune in to consume the other part of the continued narrative: Then you were lost as heck and had no idea what was going on- Even though the Game did a great job of announcing on the main menu WHEN the next show episode would Air and the TV series would show a trailer of the new update at the end of the episode you just watched showing what was new in the game.

Thing is: Klei already DOES THIS.. (to a much lesser extent..) so if any other company was going to pick up where Defiance crumbled… I would hope and expect it to be the Dont Starve Franchise.

Only Support for offline play for DLC DST characters or Singleplayer DS DLC would get me excited from this list. Unfortunately, the only thing from Klei I find good is the DS franchise.

My personal hope is it's a roadmap of the next few major updates to come .

Not sure I can say 100%. I just hope they give us some stuff here. They've been doing a lot of drops for sea stuff, maybe more sea content?

I just really hope this is not another Diablo Immortal. (You guys have phones, right?)

I mean...offline DLC is what I'd hope for. Not sure if I expect it, though.

They might just tell plans for what comes after the character refreshes/stage-setting updates.

exactly what they say, but here is something i want to say what they anounce, there is 1 thing, and i show you the picture and you goin to guess whats wrong whit these 2 characters


tell me, what is wrong whit these 2 REPTILIEAN CHARACTERS!?! tell me, can you see the disign flaw i see whit these 2? can you? because i cant unsee it whats MISSING! so i wonder if you can too?

Those two have been in development for years. You can see Tyrone Rex in Hallowed Nights as a trinket. Same with the snake toy.
