Ham bat's damage didn't scale with freshness and was worse than a spear, had both durability and spoilage at the same time, and it was edible (bad stats, similar to monster meat)

i knew the game after that was changed apparently, i was always confused because in the trailers watched that you can eat the hambat but i wasnt able to do it xD

Tesla trees (never made it into the game though).

that made me sad, these trees are inspired by te tesla trees from "The Hyperion Cantos" by Dan Simmons, one of my favourite scifi books so i was hyped when i saw the art from them :wilson_cry:

Adding on, The concepts of Tier 3 science for RoG. Oh tier 3 science, my beloved.

Our two initial ideas were a new tier of tech and the new seasons, only the latter of which made it to the shipped expansion. The new tech tier was largely made up of mad science devices. It was intended for late game and even had a biome associated with it: the Tesla biome (working name), which some of you may recall from some art of a Tesla tree that got left in the game directory despite the biome being cut. In fact, mad science was an idea that was initially very central to our plans for the expansion.

You reminded me of a few more things. Tier 3 science, oh yeah, right. Shadow Manipulator was the tier 3 science station at first before being focused entirely on the magic tab. Prestihatitator was added to the game later.

And there was a gemology crafting tab.

And life giving amulets had a different inventory icon. They were also stackable.

And body slot items had a different icon (front view).

Clothing didn't even have durability.

Shadows creatures not triggering spider webs? You mean the way non-incarneted shadows trigger ruins traps in Hamlet ALL THE FRICKING TIME? XD Or the way a shadow hand recently triggered a depth dweller web in my world?^^

But I like to remember the first time I picked up DST and told my friend that we would have to stack tons of birchnuts for winter since there would be nothing else to eat for us:D

- Growing all crops and berry bushes with Applied Horticulture at once

- Wormwoods planting hundreds of seeds into the ground

- Turning hundreds of veggies and fruits into seeds at Bird Cage

- Waiting until spring to grow crops again

- Reading Applied Horticulture on day 21

- Being sad reading Applied Horticulture too late on day 21

- Seeing Wickerbottoms on public servers

Silhouettes for next updates in main menu during the A New Reign (they'd get revealed when the update went live). As well as the title screen that had characters that were played by people you played with:

Man, if there's one thing I miss about old DST, it would be this title screen right here. I loved seeing my friend's characters on the title screen whenever I booted up the game.

- Character ghosts being able to burn stuff?

- toad having +100k hp and short despawns countdown?

- moldy backpacks?

- disease?

- shadow monsters triggering spider webs?

- moles eating thermal stones?

- Wavy Jones destroying boats off screen?

  Hide contents

wolfgang's speed?

- Woodie wood eater?

- Statues recipe needing boss loot?

- glass cannon wendy?

which things do you remember?

I remember disease - so glad it's gone!

I remember shadow monsters triggering spider webs - was awful D:

I remember Moles eating Thermal stones - cheeky buggers!

I remember Wavy being devastatingly dangerous - however I read About it on the forums and never went within several screens of a boat with low sanity to protect my precious boats until this got changed..

- I remember Boss Statues needing boss loot to make, prob like a third of my boss statues in my main world are still ones that required boss loot to build!!

And one you left off!

I remember old farms because I still have 8 in my base that I actually do use from time to time! Mainly to get extra Pepper/Garlic during big farming projects or to get extra carrots for building bunnyman houses.

Damn some of you guys are so old, get a life.

Spoiler

Jk

2015 gang where you at?!!! REPRESENT!!!

I played Dont starve for the first time on the WiiU.

I didn't know about the forum until barely last year.

One day I was playing shipwrecked (We had recently gotten the extra SW stuff cause console gets everything late for single player) and DST was announced and I was HYPED. Then I hated because it was basically RoG but multiplayer, so barely any content and I have 0 friends.

Played Forge and saw someone using scripts to rapid with weapons it wouldn't be possible with. I started wondering how did it work back in official forge and read up archived posts on how it went- and it was quite funny to read zarklord talk about Klei devs and defending the cheating, with the red nick and _klei there.

I mean I wasn't there when it happened, but I felt like an archeologist for a second.

this always confused the hecc outta me when playing.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but you used to be able to drop stacks of pinecones on the ground and then log out. When you got back in the game all the pinecones would be saplings and you could old bell the grown trees for woooooood.
