PuffinBy
She sounds so sad... Hope they can finally find each other. The new trailer also made me wonder, despite getting dragged into the Constant, these characters were actually saved by the Shadows. Maybe THEY didn't mean to do harm at all? Maybe (in Maxwell's case) the Shadows foreseen the earthquake rather than cause it, and all they did was to save Max and Charlie. Maybe (in Maxwell's case) the Shadows foreseen the earthquake rather than cause it, and all they did was to save Max and Charlie. It does feel like a bit of a stretch to me, but it is something worth considering for sure. I think it would be a lot easier to make a call on that if we knew what exactly THEY hope to achieve, what their end game is. We know that William Carter has discovered the Constant somehow, and got in contact with THEM, he then used this connection to make money as a magician and got himself and Charlie trapped in the other world where he got enslaved to the throne and Charlie became the night. Maxwell then proceeded to shape the world as we know it, but he also implies that the caves (the world he explored) were there before the surface (the world he mostly created). Maxwell's trademark were the clockwork, marble, and chess but other than that his world was pretty balanced. Then Wilson was lured to the Constant on the premise of gaining forbidden knowledge, what is interesting about it though, is that while we see Maxwell making promises to Wilson, the portal is Maxwell shaped and we know that Maxwell wants to be freed from the throne, the closer Wilson gets to it, the harder Maxwell tries to prevent him from reaching the throne, threatening and begging him to give up. There are conflicting interests. Either much like Charlie Maxwell has 2 personalities, or one of the Maxwells is actually THEM only pretending to be Maxwell. Willson successfully manages to save Wiliam and becomes a slave to the throne himself. He turns out to be a pretty boring overlord, we didn't actually learn anything about the world from his rule, he seems to have brought giants and seasons in but yeah... he has no trademark. Anyhow, Charlie arrives to the throne and takes it over her trademark is flowers and beauty. We see her having 2 personalities, which again might actually be THEM or might not be. Meanwhile Maxwell and Wilson meet each other and work together to create a new portal, maybe trying to escape, maybe the throne has changed them, but when it is finally up it seems pretty clear Charlie was actually the one to come up with this portal, as neither of them would have decided on a floral theme. The new portal then allows for multiple people to arrive in the same place and time period in the constant, which might just be a game mechanic, but I do not think it is the case - something has changed and multiple people in the Constant are necessary as we learn there are other worlds in there ruled by different powers, powers that oppose THEM. But our characters become the gatekeepers, without a doubt not having been asked for permission, and they protect the shadow masters to survive. So with all of that said, I think THEY lure the people in to protect themselves, but there is nowhere near enough proof to disprove other theories, and I still really lack info on what would happen if the gatekeepers failed (I mean to the world of Constant, not our characters) and why are THEY even participating in these little games... As to my best knowledge, we don't know, to be quite exact. What we know is that the amazing Maxwell had his great show, which went wrong and on the same day there was a huge earthquake there. If that's a coincidence or not, who knows... but I think most likely it was Maxwell's fault. Tbh I like the idea of Them actually rescuing Maxwell and Charlie, it's an interesting theory! I wonder if we'll ever find out what and why actually happened. RancorSnp
I do have to agree with you on Gnaw, whatever it is it is too busy with it's gluttony to care about anything else. When I wrote that I did consider either Pugna or some unknown entity that he could represent, I did not know that he was supposedly from our world though, I assumed he was born in the constant. But we have seen the Gnaw being able to transform humans and pigs into Mermen, so it wouldn't be too hard to imagine something could have changed Pugna as well. Cytryn7
Firstly, we don't even know who is a king of Elder Bog. I doubt it's Gnaw, he seems to be just a monster in that world. MondayNight
If I remember well the murals in Metheus puzzle-series, it was hinted at "Moon" as some kind of Lovecraftian space entity at least partially opposed to "Them" - symbolically "Moon" being a celestial cold-light force while "Them" an underworld liquid darkness. This doesn't imply some classic dichotomy of "Good" and "Evil", rather Survivors finding themselves in middle of 2 battling primordial or otherwise outwardly forces fighting one another for supremacy in a given context, space-and-time wise. Both of these mentioned forces having specific magic attached to their reality-altering aspects and seemingly both of them using the Survivors as means to their ends if deemed necessary and advantageous to their respective goals. Still atm in DST's Constant it seems "Moon" is way less active than "Them" and their Queen-possessed-puppet Charlie. PS: "Moon" in Metheus puzzle looks more like a passive force of desolation, hence why the Bug-People were going into Caves with supplies, digging deeper and deeper 'till they found/made the Ancient Gateway and build their underground civilization while using power provided by "Them" (the dark One-Eyed gate entity from murals). Thus maybe "Moon" and "Them" aren't exactly enemies. Fun speculations, heh Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/103682-charlie-has-more-to-say/#findComment-1163750 Share on other sites

It is important to note that the plot of DST would have never started if Maxwell and Wilson never met. They were the first two survivors to be in the same dimension at the same time. Before DST all the survivors existed alone in their own dimensions, and the Florid Postern connects them. This is confirmed in the description of the Florid Postern Portrait Frame: "Wilson and Maxwell constructed the first prototype of the Florid Postern, connecting the survivors' dimensions and allowing them to band together." And that happened because Charlie freed Wilson and sent him there. I think she did this intentionally so that Wilson and Maxwell could meet and make the portal, then she took it over. It looks to me that the dark side of Charlie planned the new reign takeover all along. I also think that Charlie's dark side might be Metheus, who I think is the Ancient Queen as seen in the Metheus Puzzles murals. I think she's planning something that requires a bunch of survivors to work together. At the end of the Forge cinematic, Charlie is seen absorbing something from the Gateway, this might have something to do with it. Also, somehow the Gift Boxes are part of this, though I can't think of how giving survivors fancy clothes would help Charlie. 23 minutes ago, x0VERSUS1y said: If I remember well the murals in Metheus puzzle-series, it was hinted at "Moon" as some kind of Lovecraftian space entity at least partially opposed to "Them" - symbolically "Moon" being a celestial cold-light force while "Them" an underworld liquid darkness. The Reanimated Skeleton gives small clues about this, because he wears the remains of "A king's sorrow" in his creation: "A pity." "You will not suffer." "It must be this way." "My world... threadbare." "My city... in tatters..." "This will be quick." "How we've fallen." "You will fall as we did." "This is for the best." "You will be unraveled." "They are coming. It cannot be stopped." "This world's fabric is frayed and torn." "They are unfathomable." "I will save you." "Be Woven." "How long have I slumbered?" "Let the fuel take shape." "I will not be defeated so easily." "I will make you understand." "Let us end it." "You will rip apart at the seams." "I will stop this." "You cannot win." "Lend me your power, one last time." "You cannot hurt me." "Protect me." "You have been betrayed." "I must do this, for your sake." "I will save us." "Curse Their name!" "It cannot end like this." "I was wrong." "Return them to me!" "Why?" "Metheus..." In his last animation, while he's being distracted with the survivors (and then finally destroyed by shadow hands of Charlie): "Fools!" "Who are you?!" "Release me, shade!" "You are not Them..." "Are you so easily deceived? Ha..." "You deserve this." "You've made your choice..." Also the red light what we see in New Reign trailer is similar to ruins nightmare phase and Anicent Fuelweaver. But then I realised that Queen has no motive. On ancient murals we see that Queen wanted to save her people and fight shadows. Why would she become such a dark monster who wants to kill every survivor? Humans didn't take part in the downfall of Ancients (as we believe). Personally I think, that Shadow Charlie isn't as innocent as we think. Most of us think that Monster Charlie plans everything and controls her better counterpart in some way. But there is one thing what many have missed. Both part of Charlie wanted Throne. If Shadow Charlie had no interest in ruling she would just leave after releasing Wilson. But no, she decides to pick up the Throne and gonna sit on it as a queen. Then Monster Charlie decides to take an advantage and inner fight begins. Something has corrupted her and she is looking for payback for something. If it is Metheus that took over Charlie as her "evil" side, then I wouldn't be surprised if Charlie's own anger at Maxwell was exploited as part of the corruption process. The secret messages about Maxwell from Queen Charlie certainly sound bitter, and not like the kind Charlie we've seen in the letters she wrote pre-Constant. It seems Queen Charlie also wants Maxwell to pay for getting her into this mess in the first place.
