If you start with them, you can do anything. Wilson is good, but with the red amulette and the telltate heart, he becomes less usefull than before. She can make like 10 bernies and help Wickerbottom farm stuff like a Reed Trap or Krampus sacks with Birds of the World, Sleep Time Stories and the Flingo + Star Caller strat. Even through you might want the Nightmare Fuel I rater focus one thing at a time and her lighter kinda help in the early game since Wicker can make the rope without any research machine. Maxwell - He can help Wickerbottom using the books in the early game and easily farm wood and rocks. WX-78 - He can explore the world/caves/ruins very fast with overcharge (can be overcharged using The End is Nigh!) and is very tanky with full stats. Wigfrid - Her helmet is like a cheaper Thulecite Crown. (I prefer to use her helmet against mobs that don't attack fast enough to hit the thulecite crown's magic shield like Dragonfly) Wolfgang - He's just a bearded killing machine. ShadowDuelist Posted November 8, 2016 Share Posted November 8, 2016 Wicker: books, which means faster food, unlimited tentacles spikes, tentacle dense areas for hounds, etc. Maxwell: Bookreading with small penalty, wood-rock-gold gathering and treeguard spawning, early cave exploring or cavebase builder. Wendy: spider farming without having webber's penalties, abigail is super tanky in caves later on. Wigfrid: armorer, explorer and overall good fighter. Her helmets are always useful. Wolfgang: the main damage dealer of the team, followed by wigfrid and wx they should take care of fights. Wx: Overcharged and upgraded he can be the main damage sponge of the team, and a decent explorer too. In general I prefer to use the Battle Helmet for single target and the Thulecite Crown for crowd control since I think it's a waste to use the crown against, for example, a Deerclops for just 10% more damage reduction and the magic shield basically being useless knowing that Deerclops attacks slowly. Cause i want to slaughter every single creature in the Don't Starve world xD Ok jokes aside; 1 Wig, For cheap and better helms and Spears, Also in the right hands she's a good Hunter, so she can solve the team's protien problems. 1 Wendy, Cause Abigail can slaughter Spiders for unlimited silk, gland and monster meat. nuff said. 1 Woody, There always must be a handsome person in the team, and that is Woody, Nah He can take care of wood pretty easily. 1 Wolfgangs, Stronkman, What you don't get?! (I think he says something similar to this about rocks when u examine them) Wicker and Maxwell, Wicker can craft books and Maxwell can read em. And since Maxwell regenerates sanity all the time, he suffers less sanity loss. Wicker can spawn Tentacles for Spikes, meats and Spots. With her u can get lots of twigs, grass and food (Berries, crops) in very short time. Build your base in desert near cactuses and she'll be able to read books 24/7 (Same thing applies to maxwell) And absolutely no Wes cause i hate him, I even try to kill them in a Co op game. I don't even know why some people choose Wes. FloomRide Posted November 9, 2016 Share Posted November 9, 2016 Maxwell and Wicker are essentials for obvious reasons. Wendy can farm spiders and not get killed by pigs. Some might say that Woodie is outclassed by Maxwell, but he takes care of poison birchnut trees and sporecaps exceptionally easily (basically essential if you plan on farming birchnuts). If you decide to avoid birchnuts/toadstools, Willow may be a better pick due to Bernie's spongebob abilities and lighters for cooking food on the go. Wolfgang's raw damage output enables the gang to actually have a chance at defeating raid bosses. WX can eat leftovers with no penalty, and has pretty good stats for fighting when upgraded. I excluded Wilson because of telltale hearts, Wigfrid because battle helms are more expensive than football helms during the late game, and Webber only pairs well with other Webbers. While Woodie is busy choppin trees, Maxwell is capable of digging stumps with a puppet while gathering all the logs and pinecones. Although treeguards usually pop up frequently so it's nice having a Wigfrid or Wolfgang helping with the gathering and fighting too. Wendy- Abigail is great for spiders AND to attract attention of mobs. She also helps her with additional damage. Wigfrid- helms and spears for everyone!! She also hits hard. Webber- I love Webber. He and Wendy kind of have the same purpose but Webber is good for amassing spider queens that help with giants and stuff. Woody/Wolfgang/Willow/Wilson- The last one is personal preference. Together they can do everything with quite some ease. Everyone benefit a team though, short run down on how: Wilson - Beardhair for free, doesn't need much special. Wigfrid - Armor and spears. Wendy - Farming small creatures and occasionally even bigger ones. Webber - Farming Spiders far better than anyone else could wish, upgrading dens for maximum loot/summoning a queen, having an easier time in the ruins, lower max sanity also means he's another character that is easier to farm nightmares for. Woodie - Mass Gatherer and how can you resist that Canadian man-beaver? Maxwell - Fragile but is a mass gatherer that synergizes immensely with Wicker. Wes - Makes your team look cool with his Mime magics. Willow - Uh... Bernie I guess?
