    @Weirdobob how exactly do you mean it? So, I'm guessing you mean using the tape to merge two of the same items with durability together? But how would that work with the tape in the middle? You can only hover one item over another, you can't hover a tape and a firestaff over another firestaff, for example. Or do you mean putting tape on one of the firestaffs, in the provided scenario and then the taped firestaff onto another firestaff or something?

    May be putting together two items into one, if their durability doesn't exceed 100%? So, a 10% axe, a 15% axe and a 20% axe could be combined to make one 45% axe. Because items not being finished off and thrown away could create potential memory leaks, requiring the resetting of the world when you don't want to. It would be good if the game despawned certain items left on the ground under certain conditions by itself, but I guess that's "asking too much". Such awful game design. Very disappoint. Much unwow

    @imsomony ratings aren't a legal requirement to begin with, it's just a thing made up by a private corporation to pander to some people is all. "Good god man, try to gain some perspective beyond your feelings." No idea what you mean. What part of my feelings specifically does anything in this have to do with anything? In terms of ratings of a particular game, no, I very well think that if you're talking about the rating of a game in the game's forum, that's something you're certainly allowed to discuss. And who are you to tell me what kinds of things are and aren't allowed to be discussed about the game in question? How is any of this political, if the ratings have nothing to do with the law and aren't a legal requirement? "Actually, don't answer that, I don't really care." If you don't care to hear an answer, then don't care to answer back yourself, does that sound fair? @StealthBeast ""Why would the rating be an issue?" That is a ridiculously easy thing for YOU to say. Why is rating EVER an issue for any game developer ever?" Most of the time, it isn't. Most parents buy games with higher ratings for their kids regardless. As for the rest of your post, I think you're just trying to reason the unreasonable, and it's a bit funny how you laid it all out, almost to a point of getting puffed up about it. Calm your horses, this isn't a competition of who has the biggest appeal. Reason your way through; that's what discussions are for.
  5. I think you're all getting puffed up about this here without any hope in mind. Do you really think every player who is new to the game is going to come here to read 100s of wall of texts just to have fun playing a game? There might not be any "fun" left if you have that kind of expectations from people. I mean, look at how much walls I've been writing and how that turned out for me. I read walls of text myself if I want to see what points in them are laying, but even I'm not going to waste all day reading 8 pages of that ****. I think you should play however you like and just learn along the way; that's what fluid game design is for and is all about, but since this game has none and both the fanbase and the developers themselves don't to try to aknowledge that, I guess this being the result is no wonder. Just enjoy the bloody game, if you can, I mean, you probably payed for it anyway. Blame the game, not the player

    Why would the rating be an issue? Bump it up if need be, a lot of people don't care either way and think it's a stupid idea to begin with, and they have pretty good points to support their case, myself included (I can hear "but think of the children" people getting triggered from me just writing that. Git Thick!). ESRB is in relation to the PS4, correct? On the PC, it doesn't even need a rating, because it's an indie game. Regardless, the game already includes a lot of dark themes, simply that the way they are executed are clever in ways that can make the most sensitive of "think of the children" people just brush it off as fine, and DST's not the only thing that goofs its way out with dark themes. I would argue that the very existence of PvP in this game makes it a bit dark, but the existence of a plethora of other competitive combat-like games with low or no ratings at all could make people numb to the idea. Regardless, it won't happen even if we want it, because of "think of the children" argument. And you can't argue with that because if you do, you supposedly lack morals
  8. How is a newcomer to the game supposed to know about "rollback"? From what I can gather, the creator of this topic didn't even know that and didn't know that wildfires are a thing in Summer. How is a player who knows nothing of the game supposed to know that? How is a newbie supposed to fight griefers? How come wildfire destruction is justified a rollback; doesn't that defeat the purpose of the mechanic? I do sometimes wonder; how come (in real life) it's common knowledge that Winter is a cold and a harsh season, but Summer is glorified as this most amazing season in existence, despite the fact that extreme heat and wildfires are a genuine thing?

  10. Mechanic change proposal mods

    Version 0.1.0


    The purpose of these mods is to provide some proposals for change in mechanics to the developers, help with balance, take up some part of balancing to allow the Klei developers to focus more on other things, while at the same time letting other players out there test the mechanics of these mods to see how well they like them, as well as get feedback to further improve them. Any mods within this file will stay for so long as a certain mechanic is not in place. Whether any of these mechanics are applied to the game depends entirely on the Klei forum, and of course, the Klei DST developers themselves. You can play-test any mechanics from these mods to give feedback on how well you like its contents to help with the process. The mods within this file are created for Don't Starve Together only, therefore most of them may not be compatible with the single player version. You should take in mind that some of these mods were created while A New Reign sequence of updates was still in beta, so be careful with the installation if you cannot access this content in any shape or form. The content of this mod was created using a DS software tool called Sublime and on Windows 8.1 operating system. Any issues in regards to other platforms and operating systems I may not be able to help with. Mod contents Desirable features that are not in the current build of this mod file WARNING: The methods in which some of these modifications have been created involve creating copies of existing files and then editing them. To my knowledge, these mods are compatible with each other, but may not be compatible with other mods out that that use the respective edited files within these mods. Enable with other mods out there with caution, if you so choose to do. The reason a large part of the code is done this way is to keep it easier to create this type of content and to allow developers to make changes more easily, if they decide to include any of the content provided within these mods. If you encounter any bugs, errors, exploits or overlooks as a result of these mod mechanics, or if any information given here is in any way inaccurate, please let me know. Special thanks goes to @Arkathorn and @Desblat for their help in guidance of mod coding. If you want to contribute to the way the you can post your own mechanic changes seperately. Additionally, any changes that aren't already mentioned here, which you think would do well for the game (in relation to what the mods here already cover, e.g. Willow) are welcome.     Welp boys, it's time to farm Shroom skins from Toadstool as well now... or not; by the balance of it, that seems to be another item introduced that is simply useless. Come on, Klei, you should know by now that STS and Ice Staves are simply much more useful for getting mobs stuck like this. Heck, even the Pan Flutes are more reliable than this! Unless there's something obvious I'm missing that enables us to get shroom skins much easier somehow, then I take my words back. Would have been nicer if they took the phlegm and made us some snot bombs for keeping disease away.

    @V2C ... I can feel the burn of you getting Not trying to be snarky, I just see their point... But not to worry. Reading the suggestions topic more perhaps could be a benefit us all, because to be honest, these bugs are quite insignificant in comparison to a large chunk of the game's balance and some other visual aspects of it.

    So essentially a lot of code... For a whole load of nothing. @V2C ... If you want the weaver fight not to be cheesable, just have a shadow hand extinguish the gunpowder like the stagehand does for itself. It's a fairly straight-forward and fitting idea, in all honesty.

  24. Based on what the Wiki says having a wetness protective item on should decrease the damage taken by the wetness by half and only that. However, whilst working on a mod with WX-78's sparks, I discovered that some items, such as Pretty Parasol and Straw Hat also affect the spark intervals, when they shouldn't be doing that. Eyebrella doesn't do this, however. Tested this with and without the mod on and I got similar results. I have no idea what part of the code extends the intervals, to be honest and it's weird that having Eyebrella on doesn't make this bug occur. Perhaps this is because the Eyebrella has 100% rain protection whilst the other two mentioned items provide less and make the bug occur.
