What... is this!?

Recommended Posts

Beware, spoilers within.

Edit: Yes, I found the animations in the game files. There's no prefab/stategraph/brain associated with them yet, so I just made a blank prefab that played a series of animations. The small one is called "slip" or "slips" by the files, and the big one is called "slipstor". They both have transformations, and they seem to align decently, so I'm guessing the slip transforms into the slipstor under some condition.

Curiously interesting... I wonder if it's for a neutral creature/character.

I highly doubt it though, based on the movements.

Thanks for sharing.

Seems to be, though it might just be a gimmick-centric character since it seems to lack any real attack anims.

my brain^

OK, theories/thoughts

  1. A mob related to the Depths Worm and/or Slurper
  2. A new follower much like chester or glommer
  3. A neutral/hostile mob that can be raised much like the tall bird
  4. Is it just me, or does the slipstor(?)'s death animation look like it was betrayed (by the player? see #3^) or something?
  5. Reminds me of a tree guard for some reason...
  6. Why Slip(s) and Slipstor? (probably... hmm... see #1^)

Wrote a bunch of stuff, connection somehow got lost because of a power surge, most ideas disappeared and got lost... O_O

including something dumb... or is it? Yeah it's kinda dumb...

  • It's the Grue/Charlie/Night Monster! Referring to the Last puzzle, it showed Maxwell's Codex Umbra and Charlie's flower(?) could it have something to do with #2^?
  • Maxwell, having been "freed" from the nightmare throne, was replaced by Charlie and she created this... a more tame Nightmare being... or a nicer version of the Grue (the original still existing) to aid the player?

You have done this countr- er... forum-community a great service by finding this gem of a mystery :wilson_cry:
