If you could add one structure to the game, what would its purpose be?

It you had the opportunity to add one build able structure to thr game, whether it be multi stage like the celestial portal or just two boards, what would you add?

 

I'd add a boat motor, speed up boating a lot

Slanty Shanty from Hamlet, I think players should have a “Base” that the world/other players can’t destroy, I loved decorating these things in Hamlet. Just a Small House you can maybe go idle inside for hours while you let your world run and other players play.

(Xbox needs this Badly… because whenever a worlds “Host” leaves the game all players get disconnected from the game so I’d like something similar to the old Tony Hawk Pro Skater “Spectator Mode” Where the host can go Idle, but other players can still join in and play for a bit)

Maybe not a structure, but uogrades for Winona's Spotlight. Sort of Lenses made with gems that give the light diferent effects (Yellow gives sunlight for plants, red warms you up, blue cools down, green repairs your things, moonglass activates enlightment)

Something to upgrade existing items, like some alchemy combination of things, for various additional effects/stats.

There were various attempts in past via certain mods for such effects - for example:
1) Myth Words - used an Alchemy Furnace to combine Armors/Weapons with various other elements (metals, magical items, etc) for superior variants; also had special magic Pills made from 4 ingredients in said furnace for temporary or permanent stats, on character or objects;
2) [DST] Legion - uses diverse new plants to produce special weapons, further combined via magic into more powerful versions; same with certain items (food, clothing, survival gear);
3) Modifiers for Equippable Items - employs an Anvil to imbue (certain degrees of success, RNG-dependent) existing items with rare ores. Effects can vary wildly, from positive to negative (risk & reward).

KLei could take inspiration from such community attempts, quite innovative ones I reckon.

 

Another way to go at the game would be via RPG-like Quests. This Quest System mod proposes something rather simple in concept, but the engagement can be proverbially off the roof, energizing players through missions with rewards, some mundane (but quite helpful in survival & base-building), some special, boss-level, with appropriate amount of effort put into successful completions.

Once more, KLei could take a page from these examples' metaphorical book and come up with mechanics even more interesting, fun, and thrilling.

A refining machine that automatically refines raw materials in its inventory: grass into rope, logs into planks and rocks into cut stone.

Bulk refining stuff is so tedious currently if ur playing anyone other than nona.

A flashbang goes off when it reaches a certain stage, and you can see it on the map from that moment. All the brilliance it generated is still there, though you will have to deal with more grazers to get it.

Do everyone know how Eye Plant works? And now imagine that it can be created and connected with the help of some wires/roots to any storage, so that in a certain area it collects all objects and creatures from the floor and puts them in a chest, etc.
Well, or imagine an even more "smart" Eye Plant that would find only 4 specific items on the floor or in chests, fridges and put them in another container, or immediately in the Crock Pot for automatic cooking, or for automatic drying on the Drying Rack. And if he couldn't do it (the wrong item, the place in the chest ran out), then he would just stop his work and wait until the space was free or the wrong item was taken away from him and reconfigured to other items.

They appear on your Map and they look similar to the Swirly Icon the Florid Postern has, with a Greenish blue tint for Lunar (Surface) Rifts, and a Bright Red for Shadow (Caves) Rifts.

I am a little sad that the new mobs are restricted to Caves Only, I think it would be Cool as hell to have the “Batalisks” that spawn from busted open Sinkholes, sometimes spawn those Winged Ink Blights instead. (Only after beating FW or through world settings of course!)

Another Item I’d really love to see added to DST is Wheelers Navigadget, a Tool you place resources into and then it guides you to matching resources in the world.

If I could add anything, no limits - I'd add an operational gate to Winona's structures that allows you to open / close based on player / specific mob proximity or timing.

Structures for bulk storage. Things like a log pile that acts like a chest that can only hold logs, but holds up to 1,000 of them. The sprite would change to appear like a larger and larger pile of logs, maybe at thresholds like 0, 1, 30, 100, and 200. Would also be one for rocks, cut stone, boards, grass, twigs, and ropes. Or it's all just one structure and it's determined by the first thing you put in it.

Something like Fire Packim, maybe an upgrade to the scaled furnace. Being able to store all your food to insta-cook it seems like a nice mid-late game upgrade.

too many QoL can be added that allow players to do chores in bulk instead of click too many times.

If a more powerful weapons can kill bosses with less hit,

a more powerful tool should complete the same chores with less clicks..

That's what I want.

If this counts then I'd love a teleportato type of thing in the game, with a vote that everyone currently in the sever has to agree to for it to reset the world (it'd put everyone at the florid postern without changing characters with all stuff still in inventories).

That's one of the only things I really loved about singleplayer ds, the fact you could just reset one of the worlds to get more loot from them if you were willing to sac the current state of the world you're resetting.

And yes, I know there are mods for that, but it's not an option for someone like me that just doesn't want any further pressure on the server from using server mods (plus I don't like using mods that change the experience in any way)

Oh, I know! I want a Wind-Breaker! It breaks wind!

Plant one in your base to provide a select bubble of broken wind, I.E an immunity aura from "Storms". Could be rather large.
Additionally it'd be fun to have it interrupt Boulders and Earthquakes down in the caves, since there's no storms down there... yet.

Speaking of that we could also have windmills or wind farms or whatever they called a different generator type or even water wheels
