I was thinking. Why the scrapbook is not a book? We have cookbook in the game and the scrapbook is in the menu. I get it. New people want to have the scrapbook always in hand, but I think it would make a more sence and would be consistent with other books

I agree that it is a bit frustrating from the perspective of a long time player, but I presume it will give more info that most people need to resort to wikis to learn, and once you see everything enough again the constant notifications / presence will go away.

Perhaps if there was a setting to disable its notification though?

I think they wouldn't be a problem if the entire game's pick sounds were replaced, but still having the classic ding pick sound with SOME things having a different one makes them feel a bit out of place.  If they were all changed to sound in theme it wouldn't be as bad once we played for a bit.

Yeah, the notifications are driving me insane. They will go away at some point at least, though the setting would be really appreciated. And actually, I think even those new players will be overwhelmed with constant dinging every time a bird lands nearby. Klei might want to make the scrapbook available by making a science machine for the first time, or even alchemy engine, and then it can ding all it wants. Or idk SOMETHING that doesn't take away the wonder of seeing something for the first time because your little sticker goes BLEENG! I can just see first Deerclops encounter getting completely undermined by this.

Honestly, I'm most annoyed about the first point. That was the fun, that you had to learn this and store the information in your own brain... (and why those stat info mods were an insult to the game) I know my personal feelings mean nothing on this topic, but my gatekeepy side feels betrayed, is all. Klei keeps talking about making the game more accessible to people and I go "Just don't let anyone through the gate and we're cool :)" I guess I just need to be happy I got to experience the game the way I did, even if others won't.

Too much emotional investment in products lol

Scrapbook shouldnt have notification, it should be a craftable item that updates as you examine/kill things, notifications for new things should only be shown in the scarpbook.

New pick sounds should either be for every item or none of them, it's jarring going from the light "pling" sound to the softer sound of rocks/grass/wood, especially as someone who has been playing since 2018.

Lost scrapbook page doesnt seem to do anything atm, or maybe I just missed it?

Boulders spawning on earthquakes will singlehandedly kill cave basing, or make it much less desirable. There was an individual out there to lit up their entire ruins with astral detectors, and I feel very sorry for them when all of that gets destroyed by boulders.

Wx78 has a nose outline while wearing the void hood despite the fact they lack a visible nose the rest of the time.

idk I think maybe if it were something you could access out of game, and craft an item to access in game - similar to the gardening and cook book right?

Also not a fan of the scrapbook, I visualized it being a craftable notebook with the drops and stats of mobs, this one covers all things including the items themselves, I feel it's a bit on the nose even for new players.

Also that killing mobs doesn't count to be added on the scrapbook, you only need to examine them, it's a bit of a letdown since it sounds more fun having to fight the mobs to learn about them.

I just want to say thank you for all of these new updates!! you and the klei team have been working HARD to keep us fed with content and i can feel the amount of effort and time you use to create these updates, and that your time has NOT gone unnoticed from the masses!! I can't wait to try out a beta for the first time ever and write down my experiences <3

tbh I feel like this whole "end game loop" is starting to not only feel extremely arbitrary and forced, intent on punishing players with no rewards, but its also really dropping out the individuality and creativity we were previously able to express with the game.

Like we've had dark swords and glass cutters in the game for a long time but now we get shadow and lunar weapons?  We've already had these forever, why is this NOW a thing with special element damage?  This really comes out of left field in a game that kinda demands simplicity by its own design.  You can't hide numbers, and then bring out some gotcha trap damage calculation that makes armor and weapons useless.

And why is this all about its own mini game?  For the entire rest of the game, full of influences from shadow and lunar forces that Klei had to go back and patch in because players pointed out the inconsistencies, why is it NOW that we suddenly get a different damage type?  I actually like the idea of having special damage types, lord knows Willow would appreciate a damage synergy that didn't threaten to destroy the world around her and get her kicked from pub servers, but why is it only now at the end game?  tbh this update would make a lot more sense if different damage types were retrofitted into the experience from the beginning with a focus on planar near the end rather than just suddenly making a left turn into all this.

Also why is it designed to absolutely destroy damage stacking characters?  Like, nothing about this tampers Wickers books or Maxwell's shadow magic, such amazingly OP characters yet Wolfgang can't have a damage multiplier?  I know it was adjusted to maintain some of his multiplier, but that was only after a LOT of backlash against the original numbers which did neuter him.

But more then that - while the new armor sets for lunar and shadow look pretty cool, they take away nearly all discernable character visuals.  The new content forces everyone to use the same weapons.  Why is this update so intent on taking away player expression?  The new BS stuff will never have a cool video like Wes killing AFW with tail o 3 cats, or the option to pick between things like the night armor vs marble suit, both are 95% protection but one threatens insanity when you take damage while the other slows you, or between ham bats and dark swords, higher damage or much better durability, or maybe you'd farm blow darts for ranged dps!  but now its just "Here is the special gear you must use."  At least there is an interesting staff in there, and it has an interesting synergy with the enlightened crown, but its far from practical enough to really be an option.

Then the complete turn on player basing...  First the BS plants that destroyed the base around them - removed due to fan backlash, but still the portals threaten destruction.  Now we're getting boulders falling from simple cave ins?  Klei needs to quit listening to uNcOmPrOmIsInG mOd ppl actually play their own game, long term and no god mode - actually experience and love their game before they tack on features they find interesting in an instanced world with dev tools :\ 

tbh I feel like we already had a good set of end game items - enlightened crown, bone armor, etc.  They were designed well in that you felt good getting them, but they also didn't take over the game or feel necessary.  Yes good players found ways to unlock these end game gears extremely quickly, but I also always saw that as a plus for DST.  The game is based on knowledge empowering a player and knowing how to get these empowered the player to get them quicker.  We don't need forced versioning and a grind-fest end game loop glued to the end of this we really DON'T.

The worst part imo is what is to come.  In Klei's stream following the last patch they said that the BS weapons only feel weak now because this is their first form, and that they are going to be upgraded - which means even the argument that these things aren't replacing everything for the rest of the content b/c they are only really good against the new stuff goes out the window when you consider we may see 2x or more damage increases on these pieces moving forward.  Maybe we get tier 3 rain and tier 3 umbrella next...................................

From what I saw, to have the complete information it is necessary to kill the animal/enemy. For example, if you examine the DF, its drops will not appear unless you kill it.... I found it interesting.

Nope, not us. We like our challenges to keep your base intact, thank you very much. And make them actual challenges for that matter, instead of whatever the hell rifts are.

Let's keep it real, this whole shadow vs lunar thing is incredibly boring both item wise and concept wise. This new arc has been dragging on for the past 3 months and even though these are supposed to be major content updates that make the game fun, it just seems like more work for very minimal gain in the endgame. My base is literally cluttered with brightshades that I'm honestly too fed up to kill anymore and idk about the shadow rifts but I'm pretty sure it has a similar annoying effect.

You'll need to get a krampus to drop his sack if you want that to be displayed in the book as well. Maybe examining one will be enough, but I feel like going with a system similar to terraria's bestiary would be best, where the more you kill an enemy, the more information is displayed about it.
