    • Are you kidding?! Just being able to use all my skins and the dlc characters in Offline mode is worth the price of admission.

Well with the Dawning of a New Generation of Consoles with the likes of PS5, Xbox Series X/S & Coming Soon: Nintendo Switch

I have to ask the question would people be willing to buy a Dont Starve Expanded & Enhanced Edition?

What is it: It’s Don’t Starve, Reign of Giants, Shipwrecked, Hamlet and Don’t Starve Together all in one game.

What does it include?

Every single currently available dlc, skin & playable character as permanently unlocked content (playable in Offline Mode)

What’s enhanced about it?

With it being DS/SW/Ham & DST all in one game: Then it now includes world generation options for those other expansions to be generated into your world.. player count is also raised from its current limit of 6 to 10-12, the world is more detailed with a more life like “enhanced” world such as crows actually sitting in trees or waves & ocean mobs like cosmetic Ballphin you can’t attack or interact with but will be seen splashing up out the waters and dipping back down into them again etc..

World Gen options beyond what the PS4 and Xbox One were capable of (Aka all the fancy options PC Version has that Console is limited in..)

Sounds GREAT! But with it including everything Dont Starve..

how much would it cost?

Full Retail Price 40-80$

Would you pay for it?

Klei will never do this. Never. Nada. Not a chance. Nope. Not in a million years. It is unlikely. It is unheard of. It is improbable. It is... that's all it says in my thesaurus.

Spoiler

Needless to say, yeah I'd pay retail price for this.

ill haggle you here

half a stick of gum and some pocket lint

best i can do is 3 and a half oincs

Also as a die hard fan, i'd pay $80 for a bug free game with all DLCs and multiplayer, even if i already own DSA + it's DLCs.

Oh and sleeker menu UI, like DSA.

I think this would be pretty difficult considering how different both games are...

i hope dlc characters will one day be playable offline in normal dst without the need of some deluxe version.

as for the question, i wouldn't buy a deluxe version since i only play on pc not console and if it were on pc that would be horrible because a new version means all the mods of the old version wouldn't work and they should just do the QoL stuff like offline dlc characters and higher player count for the normal dst.

SW and HAM for DST would be nice and i would pay for those as dlc for DST if like in DS you could use all of its content and features while offline. though honestly i'd just prefer some stuff from those dlcs being ported over for free instead like the characters and hamlet houses

I'd pay three times as much to play Wagstaff in Together

It’s Expanded & Enhanced! You can play as Wurt in a Solo DS Hamlet world and Wagstaff in DST if you want.

Since it’s all content in one big game :)

(This would obviously be a massive undertaking on Klei’s behalf, but I wanted to make a poll to see how many people would actually pay for such a thing to exist..)

I’ve seen some truly amazing games created from Kickstarter campaigns.

Yes I would because a couple of months later it would be enough to fund Klei out of Bankruptcy so they can make ''Don't Starve: Expanded and Enhanced: Directors Cut'' edition which adds a minor balance adjustment to Maxwell, has new Skins that aren't included in the Expanded and Enhanced edition that need to be bought individually, and has more glitches than the Expanded and Enhanced edition.

This might not be enough to give Klei the money they need to get their single-bedroom live-in office to have a bathroom installed so obviously a few months later they'd need to make ''Don't Starve: Expanded and Enhanced: Directors Cut: The Final Act'' Which has all the previous stuff from the first two expansions, but also adds in Charlie as a playable character and takes out the Terraria crossover content because of copyright issues and if you pre-order it you get an exclusive ''In the shadows'' Wilson skin which is a brilliantly pallete-swapped color change to his original iconic look that will accidentally be put up for sale in the Playstation store for 9.99$.

Honestly this is my favorite idea and Klei are seriously lagging behind in the gaming industry and need to start copying other companies re-releasing slightly better versions of the same game at full retail price every few months.

If your on PC it’s fine for you to think this way, however JoeW confirmed sometime back ago that the PlayStation 5 is fully capable of all the features the PC Version of DST can perform with exception to Mods- This means Higher Player Counts, and the more, tons etc settings for World Gen that consoles don’t have.

He ALSO stated that Sony has some sort of rules in place that they can not add content to the PS5 Version of DST that would not ALSO work on the PS4 version and then went on to say that if they created a new version of the game on the PS5 they could bypass that.

Microsoft to the best of my knowledge does not follow this same dumb rule, and in fact many of my Xbox One games have gotten completely free next generation updates to be better supported on the new platform.

However: It is Quite literally last generation consoles that is holding the game back from advancing into a new generation.

The level of fantasy in the concept makes me not want to answer at all. Feels like asking "Would you accept to adopt a unicorn if the chance arose tomorrow?" I mean, yes, unicorns are awesome, and no, because i don't own a stable. Yes, i would buy such made up game, and no, because i already have the actually existing ones.

And both offers aren't real so why am I even thinking about it

There should be a “no I already own them all on PC” option.

Didn’t Minecraft also under-go this next gen change too though? Like PC version didn’t just have Java only they also had Bedrock.

Same difference here OTHERWISE you run into the problem of Older PC’s (yes those still exist) no longer being able to run the game.. hence why a new edition would be needed for your Next Gen Console/ Non-Potato PC.

DS and DST have completely different code from what i understand and it wouldn't be possible unless klei decided to just remake everything, or at least that's how i see it with my very limited knowledge on coding.

Plus singleplayer DS wouldn't even work in DST if you are talking about having all DLC's at once, it would be like singleplayer DS where you could just hop between them, it could work like caves but most people wouldn't be able to play with so many servers running.

So as klei has stated multiple times and especially with current lunar island and waterlogged updates, it can be safe to assume that this will never happen. They already made completely different way of sailing and ocean content what is even the point of adding shipwrecked in DST now? At most they could port some things that people liked to the current content that exists if they ever decided to.

No.

Also stop comparing DST to minecraft. Please.

Okay let’s try this a different way- Klei released a silly change to the compendium that made character heads float and blink, some people found this disturbing (I’d hate to see those sensitive peoples reaction to pulling on Mario’s floating blinking head in Mario Paint or Mario 64.. but whatever.)

OTHER People had an actual problem with those floating blinking heads lagging/bogging down their Prehistoric PC’s which is why Klei needed to add an option to the game to disable them.

The question I’m asking here is when does Klei reach the point that they can’t add anything else to DST without it making the game unplayable on PS4/Xbox One/Old PCs?

Similar to how the stuff in GTA V on Xbox One would never function on the Xbox 360 because the console would likely explode trying..

In March a NEW Version of GTA V for the Series X/S and PS5 will be released which like Xbox 360 to Xbox One.. will have massive changes and content the last Gen version of the game could never be capable of.

You can’t realistically say “I already own the game why would I buy a expanded version?”

Because at some point- Support for last Gen hardware reaches its capacity & they have to discontinue support for last Gen Hardware.

Mike, I have a challenge for you,

Try not to mention any other game while talking about the state of DST.

That "point" is already here, and there are no "last gen" computers, they are upgradeable, unlike your consoles that often forbid the right to change and repair.

You see, the game is just not playable on the oldest of computer components, as is any other basic game. People naturally strive for better satisfaction, that includes buying a better computer, or in your case, a console.

The point of don't starve not being able to run on computer isn't a point and isn't in the future, it is literally a gradual change and is happening for a long time now. Even your console manufacturers are going to eventually fully drop support, simply because the consoles won't be able to comply.
