if ur not playing warly, garlic, onion and peppers are just straight up the most useless produce imo. even worse than pomegranate, durian and watermelon.

My favorite combo to grow is Pumpkin, Eggplant and Corn. I do a few tiles of this in autumn and they cover my hunger needs until like mid spring. Id say corn and eggplant are under-appreciated tbh. They both give 25 hunger raw and Eggplant even gives 20 HP when cooked and they both last a really long time in a Salt Box.

Asparagus is also really quite good. Grows super easily: feeds on rot and grows in the two seasons where you barely have to manually water (winter/spring). They make one of the best sanity foods and cooked they give 25 hunger. their downside is that they rot kinda quickly and the recipe for Asparagus Soup got completely reduced to uselessness when it got ported to DST.

Garlic lasts a long time, combos with good crops, is a great filler, and makes creamy potato puree. Onion makes salsa fresca & veggie burgers. Not being Warly makes asparagus & peppers suck, but definitely not garlic.

Are you joking?

It's really sad how bad durians are, I'm sure I'm not the only one who wishes they had at least one exclusive, recipe tied to them, and also pomegranate.

Atleast I'm a wurt main and can eat durian perfectly fine for 50 hunger, but even a wortox wouldn't bother eating pomegranates.

And it’s only if you get them by chance, if you are going to select crops for Wurt is still better to make pumpkins, since durians give 40 hunger and pumpkins 50 to her.

I guess getting durians is like a failed recipe, but for crops. And both Wurt and Walter have a use for it making it “not so bad”

Pomegranates on the other hand are just filler though, they outright suck.

Durian is a bad crop to grow, but Pomegranate is probably a worse plant to eat because the low stats that make them not much different from berries.

cooked give 20 health but spoil quickly so there is no sense of farming them when you can farm potatoes, tomatoes or eggplants

When playing walter, I farm durians as much as possible. Because

1) to make other people who pass by my base angry that they see durians

2) you can feed like 2-3 durians to Woby to get her big. Aka the main reason I make them. I don't farm for anything else.

I certainly wouldn't hate a Crockpot Recipe QOL down the road, maybe add some more or change a few underwhelming dishes as well. Some vegetables seem to rarely be grown on purpose and to boot I don't think anyone uses Durians for multitudes of reasons, even less so because they don't have their own exclusive dish.

Is toma root doing well due to being a good partner, or are one of its recipes good?

They go well with potatoes which, as you can see, are very popular.

Toma roots can also be used to make Vegetable Stinger which is good sanity recover and needed for Salsa Fresca, that is basically Vegetable Stinger but with onions instead of ice, and for Warly to make Moqueca, which is a REALLY good dish.

Tomatoes are pretty good. 20 health just like potatoes, makes two different great sanity foods, and can make moqueca I guess. They're a great option for sanity and decent for health, but they lack in spoilage time (only 6-10 days!) and hunger.

On the growing side of things they have some good combos, but they're thirsty boys.

Though would love if I could make a garden of just forget-me-not weed garden.

You can! Just hoe a bunch of empty spots then get fruit flies nearby. They plant weeds in empty spots.

I play Wurt occasionally, and I will die without the new farm plots. They were definitely a great new addition.

Without setup, you can get by collecting mushrooms from caves, mining some ice and making ratatouille. If you have a bird cage, you can also convert monster meat to eggs for filler. Cactus flash is great too.

I'll have to keep that in mind. I'm not very good with restricted diet characters because I'm used to shoving everything in my face.
