Grifting through the files (aka Datamining)

Recommended Posts

About the finger thing, it actually came up when I posted it in the fan discord yesterday:

Capture.PNG.afcde24c8363e5f56e4558356c2469d2.PNG

long story short, we're not sure XD

Last night's update was substantially dialogue, the only thing that's *immediately new* I have to show is Bordenkra's weapon of choice:

Capture1.PNG.da85a089e344bb7c4992b471ca8db9ee.PNG

So to keep this from being too short I went into the plax editor and got a few shots (But if you've been playing Smith's campaign and paid attention you might have seen some of these already):

That twin is having such a good time with his spirally little straw. Go live your best life, dude. Enjoy the simple pleasures.

And that other guy--Goober?-- is cool and I wanna hang out with him. All the raddest NPCs are in the Foam, it appears. Has Orville seen him? Seems like his kind of guy. Then again that's most GL characters...

Is that a new faction icon?

It is, though I haven't seen it anywhere in game yet...

Now I'm gonna dump everything new since last time (or at least I hope it's everything, someone poke me if I missed something). Tomorrow's my birthday so think of this as like, a present! Except coming from the birthday haver. Can things work like that?

Negotiation modifiers:

Spoiler

Rook and Smith got their own fatigued icons! I don't think they've been implemented yet though...

Some new characters:

Pearl residents:

And this is Seemli! One of the two very important NPCs related to Smith's adventures with Mullifee (which I will cover in a bit):

So... Day three stuff. it's there, it's very barebones, and full of placeholder stuff. It's also locked behind code that checks whether or not you're on the dev branch. Last night however I was feeling adventurous enough to modify the game's code to get past those boundaries, and... well, I'll let the screenshots I took explain themselves (with some occasional additions from me):

Spoiler

601840_20201117194026_1.thumb.png.f9c391f1b1c2c21f140586b91230228b.png

Asking about either of the two return generic "answer" placeholder text. (and Eden's appearance is currently placeholder)

601840_20201117194151_1.thumb.png.f18f036a2d9272a8d19ede2be9f80baf.png

After choosing a person they'll have you do a job: but no jobs exist yet so you just skip straight ahead to tricking them into coming to an ambush:

601840_20201117201745_1.thumb.png.c15a03ba50a01286b2c337c9dd8fa5cf.png601840_20201117201950_1.thumb.png.b0e202fbf015e432f75e4059c6d6a06f.png

...which takes place in the void™.

Now, I should note here that you can actually betray Mullifee if you so wish and team up with whoever you chose. (and the branching placeholder text is actually pretty good, so here it is):

Capture.PNG

After that you return to Tei:

Capture.PNG

601840_20201117202509_1.thumb.png.20354598dc5739478e7ca2b7a118bcc1.png

The bishop's appearance is placeholder at the moment (as is Smith's diguise lol). When you get there you have another chance to pull a Rook:

Capture.PNGCapture1.PNGCapture2.PNG

That beast is the boss fight, and one of them is that Droad guy we saw a while ago! But when I played I got other option, which is Shroog, a placeholder. oh well.

Also I sided with Tei because I wanted to make her love me 'v'

New achievements.

Achievements? In MY Klei game? It's not exactly unheard of.

Spoiler

Fist o' Bricks: Apply 100 or more damage with a single hit

No Upgrades: Complete the campaign or brawl without upgrading any cards

Soluble Fish: Incept 99 Doubt upon a single opponent(don't you dare even think about looking at seed of doubt in a negotiation, it will crash)(Also you kinda need to go infinite in one turn, 'cause the opponent will lose before you get there otherwise.)

Just Cards: Beat the campaign without installing any grafts or assigning any perks.(Only counting negotiation and battle grafts right now. Social grafts and coins are a-ok!)

Brawler: Beat any brawl on maximum prestige.

Beloved: Get 20 people to love you in campaign or brawl

Archenemy: Get 20 people to hate you in campaign or brawl

Machinist: Win a combat by playing only item cards

Efficiency: Win any campaign or brawl with 5 or less cards in your battle deck.

Above It All: Win a negotiation without playing any attack cards.(Commented out in the file because of how bull**** it is)

Impervious: Gain 99 Defense in combat.

To The Oshnudrome!: Win any campaign in under 30 minutes.

Completionist: Unlock all other achievements and 100% of the Compendium(good luck finding a way to get fssh hate you. She has passive plot armor, by the way)

I was under the impression that Grifts were supposed to be achievements, and you'd earn em by completing all stages of a Grift. Also, these proposed chivs are bloody outrageous! Buncha gimmicks that have little to do with just playing the game and everything with breaking it. Perhaps Klei should look back at something like Mark of the Ninja where achievements were, by and large, tied to simply incentivizing the player to use different strategies while playing the game. "Organic" chivs, if you will.
