Grifting through the files (aka Datamining)

About the far left outfit

Pretty sure it's a mask type thing he's not wearing at the moment. I don't think it looks bad as it is--definitely something someone would wear in the Griftlands-- but I'd probably not wear that outfit very much on my own playthroughs. Perhaps if the mask was hanging a bit more loosely it wouldn't look so odd. Dunno how that would work with the animation build.

in case I need to illustrate my point

We can't know if these outfits are final or not. Such are the dangers of datamining. I wouldn't lose hope about the lumin glasses on the white outfit since they are in every card illustration with that costume and they are too good to pass up. It's still to early to say.

Going back to Smith's outfits, the bionicles for the shiny one are actually in the outfit's atlas file (warning, massive image):

Spoiler

And it's odd considering that hats for Sal and Rook are also in the outfit file, rather than the head file.

Then again, Smith is the only one with two head files. One with the mask thing, one without. I'm wondering if the devs are taking a similar route for the bionicles and that's why they don't show up yet.

It might be hard to make hats for Kra'deshi. Sure you got Smith's sister but for the most part they seem way more comfortable with eye tools than headwear.

Did I say Sal and Smith? I meant to say Sal and Rook. My brain is mush and unable to read, apparently XD

One thing I've noticed is that on some kra'deshi the eyestalks don't protrude directly out of the top of their head: they stick out just below the top. This appears to be the case for Mullifee, as you can see the cap fits nice and snugly on top of her head and her eyes stick right out below it.

image.png.0b7972a078a57b6189f635e167546b7f.thumb.png.b68e8b3f9ac76d509b1dff37ad578649.png

(I know the skin color's wrong but I don't really feel like booting up the game rn) But yeah it'd probably be more practical and easier for kra'deshi with these heads to wear hats.

Then we've got Theroux. His eyestalks stick out right at the top. His solution?

Just put it over one eyestalk and poke a hole to stick it through. I'm thinking this is how kra'deshi with eyestalks at the top do it—though their nostrils are right there too so that's probably why it's lopsided, to leave room so he can breathe.

GUYS

GO PLAY SMITH RIGHT HESHIN' NOW. HE'S GOT NEGOTIATION MUSIC AND IT SLAPS SO HARD

Also he's apparently 36 according to one of two new scenarios that were added:

                player:
                    !sigh
Just a poor, young, thirty-six year old orphan, with nothing in my pocket but my good name.
                    What ever will I do?

I will take a better look at them tomorrow, it is very late where I am and I can feel myself going batty from my tired excitement. If that is even a thing. Is it?

Card icons comin' in hot!

Finalized (including one I forgot to add to my last card icon post):

Going back to that scenario, it's an awfully short encounter so there's not too much to say but:

Spoiler

Smith encounters a merchant that apparently has history with his family, and one of the options was to play with the merchant's feelings to guilt-trip them into giving him money—which triggers the dialogue above, followed by a negotiation. or he could just threaten or rob them

Also, new codex entry:

Spoiler

waterlogged_tomes:
    title: Waterlogged Tomes
    trigger: Waterlooged Tomes|Tomes
    body: |
The holy writings of the Cult of Hesh. It's mostly descriptions of the various ways that Hesh can consume a person, how that person can best prepare for the moment of consumption, and why that person should be grateful that they aren't destined to be consumed twice.

...Which is referenced in the other new scenario:

Spoiler

a cultist doesn't think Smith is prepared for Hesh's return even though he "changed his underclothes a week ago" so they want him to pay a tithe. Smith can "Engage in a theological debate" before which this happens:

Now, I haven't read the Waterlogged Tomes since I was but a tadpole, but I think you're making a slight error in your theological analysis.
                agent:
I am a full-fledged member of the Cult! You are a filthy grifter! What can <i>you</> tell <i>me</> about the terror Hesh!?
                player:
                    Well, you see...

Both winnning and losing the negotiation actually reveals a bit of interesting lore about Smith's past. If you win:

                * You regale {agent} with as much Hesh-lore as you can remember from interminable afternoons spent listening to your creche-tutors.
                * You also make up some particularly nasty bits just to scare {agent.himher}.
                [unrelated dialogue follows]

If you lose:

                * Your parents spent a small fortune a series of sour-faced Cult tutors when you were young, trying to instill a working knowledge of the faith on you and your siblings.
                * You probably should have paid more attention.

These card icons have "smith_day_1_boss_fight" in the name, so presumably, these would be temporary cards used in the fight. Last time I played the boss, however, this was not the case. In case you're not familiar how the boss works at the moment:

You have a negotiation with him in which you have to undermine his minions. They are, as is the case with other similar negotiations, their own singular argument. Any that you destroy will join your side, but not directly in battle. Every turn they will appear briefly and give you a buff/give the boss a debuff, and every minion you fail to undermine will give the boss buffs/give you debuffs.

I am assuming these cards will do a similar function when/if they are implemented but for now, the buffs/debuffs are infinite and automatic.

WHERE IN GOD'S NAME IS THIS CARD. WE, THE PEOPLE, MUST KNOW!

I do not know but I am definitely making it a patch. Hesh, Smith's cards are really the most fun

If I am called to shall carry out the will of Hesh, so be it.

I took the LONGEST time to realize you were referring to Smith's glasses/bifocals/whatever they're called and not like....actual Lego Bionicles™ LMAO I was about to scream

I mean. I hope that's the word lol

But HELLO AND GOOD EVENING LOOK WHO FINALLY HAS A BUILD (skin color might be wrong but it's not defined yet so idk)

601840_20200820222336_1.thumb.png.a8dc8144a6f4ccf9d333bf925ecaed00.png

And Smith has some more events and there were a whole other lot of changes I'm gonna need some more time to comb through. Wish me luck.

Edit: okay the reason Windiff is giving me so many hits is because it appears they've streamlined the way the game fetches helpers for negotiations. No changes aside from that in a lot of these files. Ugh I'll continue tomorrow I'm going to bed

Oh no you're valid LMAO we've just....made far too many Bionicle jokes on stream

Also Klei needs to cut it out with these dope designs I'm being personally called out every time they add one of these

Since we're talking about the Smith Fanservice outfit again, it's not just the forums. People who play this game see patterns, and make perfectly reasonable assumptions:

Spoiler

image.png.88f3303b149171e3e918a88a64e0f86d.png

The people already expect it! Dearest devs, you'll just be giving them what they want!

I'll stop calling it the fanservice outfit if it has an actual name. Which we will see. When it is implemented. Right?

Tangentially on topic: I am of the belief that Sal and Rook each deserve at least one more outfit. My excuse: an outfit for every day. Who's gonna change their clothes every day? Probably not a lot of people, but yanno, it would be a nice little thing.
I mostly want Rook to have another outfit that's a little more colourful. Spies don't wear colours, you say? Well maybe Rook is trying to be less obvious than the Shadow outfit this time.

'Kay so I'm away from my laptop and on my dumbphone so I can't check but as far as I remember, yeah the outfits we saw a few pages back are the only ones in the game... *so far*, at least. There is flavor texts for unlocking those, by the way, they have names already, but I can't remember them, unfortunately. But yes I agree more outfits for our dorky heroes plz.

I'm gonna start calling this too lol. But plz devs we're begging you

maybe we should start a challenge and put everyone's skin ideas into a catalog.....Grout Bog Spring collection™.....

That reminds me, I had an idea earlier of something I'd eventually want to draw. The heroes but they're playing DnD in full getup. Sal as a paladin, Rook as a mage and Smith as a barbarian. Yeah, idk XD

IN OTHER NEWS, I HEARD WE GOT OUR HORNED YOTELOPE SO I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING ONCE I GET HOME

HESH YES!!

So there's probably code somewhere that defines whether or not a critter can be owned as a pet but I don't know it and I haven't checked to see if it applies to these guys. I guess I'm gonna check that next. Also yeah I couldn't spawn the upgraded one in battle?? either it's not implemented or I selected the wrong option lol
