I think it's the hair. I prefer his Rose skin over the side view of the Cactus. Cactus isn't doing it for me, it only really looks great when he's in full bloom. Otherwise, I think the hair of the Rose skin is what's bothering people. He looks more hairy, and less plant like there. I feel like he doesn't look enough like himself in those.
