dfly's attack is single target and won't re-target.  So if she isn't targeting you with the attack it won't hit you, even if the target dodges.  Other bosses will re-target so if the primary target dodges someone else in range wills till get hit.  Tree guards and Moosegoose are like this iirc...  Other attacks are just AOE and hit everyone like Deerclops smash.

This property for dfly makes her a great target for Abi as you can still kite with Wendy and Abi isn't likely to die.  With other bosses you've got to tank if you want Abi to stick around.

I really like bush hats, especially in longer multiplayer worlds.  I'll duck into one during a hound spawn so more hounds chase other ppl, but this frees me up to pick them off and thin the herd.  That's right - I'm helping with this hat, promise XD

I’m playing as Wolfgang at the Moment, I really enjoy his rework.. hiding in the BushHat seems like a very “Wolfgang” thing to do (despite being powerful the dudes still a big loveable coward)

The BushHat allows me to hide & let my Hunger go down to dangerously low levels- While only popping out the hat long enough to Retain Mighty with a Gembell, I can still be Mighty Without needing to consume half the worlds food sources, I wish my Xbox allowed me to record longer then 30 seconds of footage- I would record the entire Dragonfly fight to show where his Rework is actually better then his old version- Because using this BushHat method with his old version: I’d be Wimpy & Starving when all I brought for the fight was my 2 meatballs & 2 Rabbit Stews.

Does this work even if you don't have a fire pit skin (I do have skins for them I'm just wondering)?

I guess it just depends on your playstyle and how you play the game: Whenever I’m standing Idle around a campfire (which is anytime I need to Warm up or Cooldown my Thermal Stone..) I have time to also do the idle animation of pumping dumbells to get Mighty, Whenever I’m cooking my Meatballs, I have time to do the idle animation of getting Mighty, Whenever a horde of hounds is chasing me.. I need to distract them with another mob (even bees work) long enough to pump the Dumbell and then effortlessly wreck their faces.

I also don’t see the point in wasting silk I can use on Tophats, Winter Hats, Tents & Sewing Kits to create “Boomerangs” when Wolfgang can make a relatively cheap version with his Stone Dumbell you can Use this Dumbell to kill small rabbits and birds for Morsels.

Morsels can be traded with pig king for Gold or put in a Crockpot combined with 3 Ice or several other types of fillers to create Bunny Stew- A new food you get 20 health points recovered when consuming.

Something to note though: Stone Dumbells are the most effective Dumbell to use to get out of Wimpy form or to throw at enemies, and while throwing them at enemies it increases Mightiness as if lifting the weight.

Stone Dumbells are TERRIBLE for trying to go from Average to Mighty (waste of Resources don’t use this unless you absolutely have to) GOLD Dumbells are good for exiting Average form and going into MIGHTY (but again TERRIBLE for fully capping out Mighty and a waste of resources don’t use this unless you have to/can alternate it with Gembell to save Gembell Durability)

The GEMBELL is only useful and I mean ONLY Useful once you reach “Mighty” to top it off- Using it in any other way will burn through its durability and be a complete waste of Resources.

Think about it: When your Wimpy and weak lifting up a tiny weight will get you strong, but when your stronger: Lifting that tiny Weight will no longer get you any stronger and you need to actually buy a heavier weight to get stronger, and then when you want to be even more strong, lifting up the heaviest weight makes you most strong. BUT trying to use the heaviest weight when your not strong enough to lift it… will take longer and be more time consuming.

In Conclusion: the TL:DR-

Stone Dumbell= Throwable good for Morsels & Going from Wimpy to Average.

Gold Dumbell= Do not throw this unless you got tons of extra gold and can afford to waste it, used to go from Average to Mighty.

Gembell= Do not throw this ever at all whatsoever period & only use it once your already at Mighty

(these thresholds are indicated by very small little arrows on your Mightiness meter)

Using a stone Dumbell to go from Wimpy to mighty or even using Gembell to go from Wimpy to Mighty will make this rework seem absolutely TERRIBLE to you.

You describe a fight where you got the twin terrors to fight dfly while you hid in a bush cap.  How exactly does Wolfgang matter to this strategy at all?

i have no idea about whether there is someone who have mention this.

the Celestial Altar have the ability to make the Portal paraphernalia and the Moon Rock Idol in the early game( like the screenshot shows ). Players don't have to wait like a fool for the damn Celestial Orb in the meteorite area.

EDIT: This function seems to have been added secretly early this year.

Attacking with a torch is an easy and cheap method to deaggro/displace a horde of mobs chasing you like shadow monkeys, clockworks, spiders, and hounds when you can't one-shot them. This has saved me many times in the ruins, just be careful of the burnable structures nearby.

Speaking of monkeys, they will try to steal anything you drop so you can clear a whole group of monkeys by dropping one lit gunpowder as they desperately try to loot it.

-console players trigger alert: only for pc-

you can work, summon stars, etc in complete darkness if you hold with your mouse the tool/staff with your mouse while having a light source, for tools make sure to hold the tool on top of the wished resource to gather and press right click (the game shows what to click anyways), your character will perform one work action so in order to complete hammer/chop/mine a resource you will need to repeat the action. You can summon polar lights and dwarf stars doing the same, just put your mouse in the wished location and right click to summon it, dont worry, charlie cant hit you since the staff generates light arround you

We pay more for a worse gaming experience, tis the way the world goes round.

Speaking of world going round.. Sometimes enemy mobs will become hidden behind other obstacles such as the Masts on your Boat and cookie cutters hiding behind masts are not going to be a fun experience, you can rotate the map (LB/RB on Xbox Controller) to see these hidden devilish little boat destroyers. Not exactly an “unknown” mechanic but still extremely vital to your survival against these highly annoying little bugs.

Ha, even better! If you wish to mine boulders, chop trees, or hammer stuff in the darkness, just hold the left click! Your character will keep working, until Charlie bites you that is. Working this way however will always take less time than it takes for Charlie to attack, so you can just listen to work being done and quickly reequip a torch. The only downside is losing sanity in the darkness.

idk I just do the swap trick - equip your torch / lantern, grab your tool and mouse over your hand slot.  Then hold space and quickly click to equip the tool and again the equip the torch back.  Keep space held.  Suddenly you're mining / chopping with a torch.  Its slower than spam clicking, but its good enough when you're trying to chop / mind through the night but don't want to light up a tree or sth.

Bummed out to learn that this is no longer a thing since the eye of the storm update :wilson_cry: just as i was getting into woodie.

Why klei :concern:

The only thing it achieves is just removing antlion from the list of fights u can do as Moose as if that was needed.. :crushed:

I prefer dropping lightbulbs under the stuff I want to mine, they provide enough light so you can still spam click. But if I don't have any, I do what you described but instead of holding space I switch to my torch with its shortcut button after using the tool by hovering the mouse over trees/boulders/statues etc.

You can feed Lesser Glowberries to your Pet Den Critter to use them similar to Abigail’s light, if your ever in a cave with low lantern/miners hat fuel and don’t want to eat the glowberries taking the extra sanity lost- you can instead fed them to your Broodling and it’ll provide enough light till you need to fed it again.

Edit: it also works on the EYE MASK!

Walter has a hidden perk where he only gets a 10% maximum health penalty and 12 sanity lost when drowning instead of the usual 25% maximum health penalty and 25 sanity lost.

Thematically, this is because he has a boy scouts badge in swimming.

Spoiler

Inb4 "Walter is a perk soup" :devilish:

Think I'm in the minority when I say I like Walter's "perk soup" just lets him take advantage more in certain scenarios. Kinda wish he had more boy scout related perks cause when used all together he is pretty interesting.

Yay! I feel the same :). I do think he needs more, I'd be pretty interested in more boy scout related crafts, I've always been intrigued by the idea of Walter possibly introduces new types of traps, traps are an under-utilised part of the game so to see a boy scout character expand on them could be pretty cool.

like harvesting faster and crafting ropes and survival tab stuff faster

and why he only has 1 allergy? would be ironic to have a boyscout with multiple allergies like picking flowers hurting for 1 (or hamlet's sneeze pls), more damage from weeds, allergy to certain foods, etc so it doesnt feel like "we just wanna make you suffer while fighting bq"

Lucy can’t be eaten by lureplants, so you can have fun seeing how long you can make her complain while jumping from eye to eye.

Following up on this, throwing dumbells at Lureplants is a bad idea..

It would’ve been cool if Wolfgang could hurl dumbells at the center of them all hitting the bulb knocking the meat off and despawning all the plants: I tried it and when it did nothing I proceeded to cry when they ate the Dumbell. :(

Not a mechanic with DST gameplay but I'll show it here nonetheless.

The Trade Inn is almost never worth the cost it takes to make a higher rarity skin, it is almost always better to unravel your unwanted ones. For example it takes 45 spools (5*9) to weave a random blue quality skin but 50 spools (5 more) to weave a blue of your choice. Same goes for higher tiers and the chance you'll get a purple from trading 9 whites is astronomically small. Better to secure the skin you want rather than gamble (unless you don't care or have all the skins).

and also because the casino always wins.

It can be a simple lifesaver to put fireflies over your base firepit or better, put down a lantern in a firefly spot for emergencies. This way you can be sure to always have access to a lightsource if you run out of light at base by accident. (Note that fireflies over a firepit can also be annoying though, since they sometimes block you interaction for fueling the fire for a few seconds.)
