(Too bad I died because the game decided to have heavy rain on the LAST day of Autumn when I was in the Ruins). Accidentally made ratatouille instead of amberosia (pain). It suggests that your cute little cat companion was actually keeping a horde of screechers at bay and now that it's gone, they are coming for you... Please Klei, make it a feature that whenever you don't have a kitcoon and don't adopt a new one, screechers will slowly start to creep out of the trees over time and will randomly appear in your menu instead of the kitcoon. Maybe just as a toggle feature which is off by default so people can decide if they want to deal with this, but that would be absolutely amazing! A little annoying, sure, but it does also have the advantage of whenever I do this, it seems to trigger the latest hotfix update to download immediately. So that's cool. So, back on the beta again yesterday, and unfortunately THIS was the first screen that greeted me: ...WHY IS THIS LOADING SCREEN PICTURE SO PERFECT WITH THIS MESSAGE?! It's like it was engineered to go together on purpose, like an old impact-font meme template or something! The game isn't loading, and the cat is reaching sadly towards the toy, like "I...I cannot has fun thing? :(" Well as you'll see from the fact that the following pictures exist, I obviously GOT it working again, but....oof. I HATE it when the unknown strings attack at night. It's so annoying. (this's since been fixed, but I like taking pictures of glitches anyway.) In The Constant today, a little girl witnesses the miracle of abiogenesis in person. Film at 11. dramatic You know what? I'm actually WITH you on this one, Wendy! Some weeds are pretty and cool, dammit! #weedsareflowerstoo (There was this entire flower vine of bindweed, aka small morning glories, that grew up the side of our steps last May/June. It was SO CUTE. Technically they're weeds, but I didn't care; I had adorable cottagecore decor without any effort. Another name for them is the wonderfully scary-folktales-to-make-your-kids-behave-esque "Creeping Jenny", which is what I NOW realise I should've named Wendy's flower-cat. : P) You see this? THIS is why I kept chopping down all the trees that were really close to camp! (also because I needed the wood) Firebreaks are important, y'all. (dramatic fanfare) And now entering the stadium...THE OLYPMIC TORCH! (crowd noises) Okay it's actually a pepper, I know, I know. Doesn't it kinda LOOK like the golden Year of the Carrat torch, though? Fun fact, I once saw the actual Olympic torch get passed from one runner to another, directly right smack in front of my house. Yep. God DAMMIT summer, I just barely planted those to try and start reforestation. Can't we have just ONE nice thing? (the tree in front did survive, but that was the only one out of originally six.) Wendy has a boat, and of course it has a Wendy-appropriate name. Actually it occurs to me, both of the boats I've made and named so far, have had dark-humor names about how they're going to be _destroyed_--Willow's is the "Blaze of Glory", and Wendy's is the "Entropy", aka how EVERYTHING will eventually be destroyed. (science-nerd emo for the win. : P) But in the middle of all this destruction, life....finds a way. In this area alone there are FIVE baby lumpy trees, all of which sprouted up in the same day, right alongside their burned bretheren. (The fifth one is kinda behind my backpack inventory, if you're wondering.)
