I'd like for Year of the Gobbler to come back with a few extra hound-themed items added to the gobbler shrine. It would be a very questionable decision to have the YotG content only available for one month of one year.

Year of the Gobbler wouldn't make much sense though seeing as it's year has already passed.

I would like that but I hope it's not another silly event (like year of the gobler) ... I play DST mainly for the survival part and because of that I didn't really enjoy the gobler event .

It offered next to nothing in aiding with survival. Even when the event was going on, I forgot most of those items existed. The red lantern seemed like the only thing of any use, but even then it was outclassed by a normal lantern.

Kinda harsh assessment. If we're going by "nothing in aiding with survival" a lot of DST items, clothing and weapons alike, don't add much to actual survival in terms of usefulness and/or efficiency. Yet, with "Year of the Gobbler" event, you could make pretty cheaply Lucky Fans as a fun way of cutting trees (prior planted very close to one-another) for example, or a lot of Red Lanterns for nice base decoration/ light - all you had to 'sacrifice' in making those were berries. Plus Gobbler Shrine 'pacified' said spawned gobblers, making it easy to kill and not eating your berries during daytime harvesting - again something rather useful to have.

But, as you wrote, one could just ignore all event's content with no harm done whatsoever. Other people appreciate these events, like myself.

Hmm. Exaggerated statement. Oh, the boundless internet dramas.. :distant:

I really liked the lanterns and would like to get them for my longstanding map that so far has encompassed both Hallowed Nights and Winter’s Feast. I would like it to be an all-holiday world.

The game does not really need any significant additions to the overall survival/sandbox set-up it has now. There’s a LOT in DST. The holiday events are mostly just ... holidays: fun events with special decorations and treats. They don’t need to be anything more.

First things first--I'm the realest not a "hardcore" player type at all, so I don't really care if things make the game harder or are "optimal", as long as they're fun.  The Year of the Gobbler was some nice silly fun, and I like that it wasn't one of the super-expected western holidays (if you don't live in a big city with a thriving Chinatown, which I don't)--kinda mixed things up a bit there.  Added some nice variety.

Secondly, SPEAKING of said variety...there are _twelve_ animals in the Chinese zodiac.  What, should we NOT explore all the fun and creativity we could get out of figuring out ways to make the other ones into a Don't Starve holiday? Dude!  Is nobody but a few curious to see what they'd do for the others?  That just sounds SO COOL!  Be a shame to just do the same thing every year.  After all, the holiday is _Chinese New Year_...NOT specifically Year of the Gobbler (Rooster).

Think how neat it'd be to have a Don't Starve collectible skin from your OWN zodiac animal, too.  I'm a Tiger; should be fun when they get to that--'cos no matter what, it'll be kitty-themed.  :) (I liked the idea somebody said once about a tigerSHARK, but obviously no.  Still, that'd be funny.)  Mind you, I don't actually believe in any of this, but it's fun to look up and find out.  To those of you whose sign IS the Rooster or the Dog, congrats!

And yes, I'd be saying this even if I _hadn't_ been around for:

yearofthegobbler.png.084fb235d0fb71bf2214ab5efa0accaa.png

...I mean, I'LL probably never have the bottomless or stonehenge firepit skins myself, so...(almost) everybody missin' somethin', is what I'm getting at.  (Did I take this as a flimy excuse to post this picture again?  Maybe.  It's a nice picture, dammit!  : P)

All you need for the stonehenge one is to buy Reign of Giants in the original Don't Starve though, or did they deactivate that?

I have regular DS Reign of Giants, but I wasn't around for when RoG was added to Together.  Or any part of the beta, really.  I think I came in right when it first went OUT of beta.  So, yeah.

But hey.  I did eventually get the tragic torch when I wasn't eligible for _that_ to begin with, so anything's possible.  Maybe some of the previous Chinese New Year's stuff can be available to buy or weave during later New Year events?  That might work.  (shrug) And I don't see any reason why the red lanterns (RAAAAGGEEEE!! wait, not that kind of red lantern) couldn't be available during the Year of the Anything, since they're not specifically about a certain animal.  So there's that.  They could also bring back the same event clothing, since again, that's just Chinese New Yeary in general. It's really only the Clucky Hat that would be a problem.

You can definitely still get it because I did and this was exactly my situation.

I wonder what the loyal item would be this time around? KLEI, DON"T GIVE US THAT DAMN CLUCKY HAT AGAIN.

I just got the mega pack as a Christmas gift for myself, and the skins worked for me.

Back on topic: i would like to see different coloured hounds for the event(only active during the event), purple hounds that reduce sanity upon death in the area, Green hounds that deconstruct things in an area upon death(including man-made turf), orange hounds that teleports stuff(inc boulder,s bushes etc) around it in an area around it a short distance away, randomly scattered. and yellow ones that blind(turn your screen white, like a flashbang) when they die if you're too close. all have a chance to drop their respective gem colour. as a bonus maybe an iridescent version, no idea what it would do.

THE DOYDOY HOUND!

Nah, they actually do something by wandering around aimlessly eating random things they find laying around. The iridescent hound should should do nothing just like the gem it's based off of. Because that's it's element right? Just sitting around and doing nothing, dreaming that one day it'll actually have a use...

To answer the last thing somebody said about getting the "stonehenge" (yes I know it's actually called monument) firepit...THAT might be my problem: That I didn't buy the megapack.  I got the singleplayer first during a summer sale, and then the Together version months later.  You know how sometimes I'll say "Well, I started off in singleplayer, so I still play like that" yada yada?  That's why.  Actually...I think the megapack only even existed _after_ I got my games.

ANYway.  Back on topic--some of these are interesting ideas, the problem is...still, none of them really sound like a HOLIDAY.  That is...they don't sound fun.  They sound like terror, destruction, anger (from your base being destroyed) and death.  Mind you, the Year of the Gobbler stuff had its dangers too (if, for example, you were an idiot like me and Lucky Fanned YOURSELF) but...this still isn't answering the main question:  How the hell do we make a dangerous/annoying thing in the game that regularly kills the unready...into something _fun_?  Something festive.

...the only thing I've come up with so far is like, maybe dog-shaped animal crackers that drop when you kill them sometimes...I dunno.  We could always bring back the fireworks from last time.  Blowing things up is always fun.  Other than that I'm like (shrugs shoulders) "BUH???"
