Criteria for getting drops

Recommended Posts

So I have a question, what is the minimal criteria for recieving drops?  Do we just have to be in the game as a character?  Do we have to be doing something for the drop to trigger?

The reason is I'd love to get a drop, but at the moment I'm busy modding and taking care of other things, if I run the game with my character in godmode, am I excluded from drops?  I can understand if the drops are exclusive for people actually playing the game, but I'm wondering if there's a specific criteria that needs to be met or whether I can just get a drop from having the game run.

Obviously though, I can tell that you need to be playing to get a drop, but I don't know if I need to actually play or whether just having the game run will count or not.

Edit: Well I got a drop, having my character stand around in godmode got me one.  So I guess the game just has to run and it qualifies.

PS. YAY WHITE BUTTONED SHIRT!

@ThaumicParrot, I've played a lot more than 3 hours since the last update, and I only got 2 skin pieces. First one dropped in the first 20 minutes or so of gameplay, and the next one in more than 1 hour I think. I have yet to meet a dst player who has gotten a 3th drop.

I also have only 2 clothing pieces and haven't gotten my 3rd. :/

It sounds like there's a 2 drop limit per day maybe?  That's at least what I'm reading this as.

Do one of the dev's feel like shedding light on this?  Or is that asking too much?  I'm not sure where else to check because I haven't really seen an official thread on the gift system.

Having the same experience. I got the first two in about 15 game-days. Haven't gotten anything since then and it's been around 70 game-days. I've been legitimately playing as well, not AFKing (if that makes a difference).

I'm beginning to think that clothing drops are based on the overall time you log in game, though I kind of hope I'm wrong.

I got my first drop within the first 20 minutes of playing, my second one an hour into playing the same world. I got my third drop after three overall hours of playing...

And I got my fourth one just now, after fourteen overall hours of playing.

Yeah. I hope it's actually randomized, and I just had a bad streak of not triggering a drop.  :indecisiveness:

Looks like it's based on exponential growth. Is this a scheme to get us sucked into an infinite playtime loop?

:o

Maxwell is behind this!

Same as my pattern of acquiring. I really want more because I played 1200hrs before those clothings come out...

I've played for like 2 days now without getting a drop.  I know that in the TF2 gun mettle thing, there were a set number of drops per week.  This may work something like that.

Yes, the drop limit was confirmed by a dev. I think how it works at the moment is effectively 4 drops per week with the rollover point around Thursday. I also think the drop-rate is logarithmic, with the first 2 dropping relatively quickly, but more time being needed for the 3rd and 4th. Most people stall out on 4 drops, but there have been reports of people getting 5 legitimate drops in a week, so this is why I think there is no actual limit, and it's based logarithmically; you just need to put in an absolutely massive amount of time to get anything past 4 drops.

Of course, this is all my own speculation based on insufficient information. :indecisiveness:

To clarify, do you mean you've played 2 days and haven't received a single drop, or it's been two days since your last drop?

Silly question, but you do mean real days, not ingame days, right?
