Why everyone keeps saying that next rework will be Maxwell's?

I fr don't understand, why?All i found was mentioning of backstage at the end of Wicker's rework post, but i don't see it as confirmation.First of all word backstage can also mean both development of update or making big content update which were described in roadmap as setting the stage.Not only that but on image of roadmap 2022 we got 3 characters on it and 3 reworks promised for this year, these characters being WX, Wickerbottom and Wilson so i really don't understand why everyone thinks that next rework will be Maxwell. Also 1:Apperance of Wilson on every roadmap image doesn't means that now he appeared there just to appear. 2:Even if you think that Wilson rework shouldn't happen and it's bad it doesn't cancel fact of Wilson getting rework anyway.

The teaser is funny, because the hints actually fits perfectly both Maxwell AND the new update chain theme.

But still, I believe Wilson will be the last reworked because of screenshot below. Maxwell rejected his real name long ago, so I doubt Klei was talking about him

Well, maybe we'll get a Maxwell origin story as the animated short. So we get to see him as William.

In addition to Klei usually choosing their words carefully and not giving hints lightly, Maxwell actually needs a rework, while Wilson is most likely only going to get one because every character is getting one. If Wilson was going to be next, the word choice most likely would have alluded to science in one way or another. Instead, it was about stage performance, which was Maxwell's thing.

So I think it makes sense for Maxwell to be next.

Tbh both being last would make sense, in their own way. Maxwell for lore reasons, as his short is probably gonna be the most impactful of all. Meanwhile, Wilson in the main character.

Although, Wilson doesn't really need a rework. He's supposed to be noob friendly. But the problem with being a noob friendly character is that the noob friendly character doesn't really have perks, or drawbacks. And people doesn't really want to pick a 'lame' character, so they'd rather pick something like Wigfrid only to sit in base and beg for meat. Encountered twice today, actually

Meanwhile, Maxwell does need a rework. He's 'old' compared to the rest of the (refreshed) cast.

Either way, 'one more to go' could mean anyone depending on your theories. There is no wrong answer until it's been disproven.

Hear me out. Next rework is Wilson. Then it is Maxwell.

Maxwell's animated short will contain him backstabbing Willow but Willow pulling him to constant with herself.

It could be about that, not necessarily Maxwell. Although I do hope he's next, don't get me wrong.

He is most certainly trapped on the chair isn't he? I believe Willow's actions towards Maxwell will have something to do with Maxwell joining the survivors (yes, as in Willow lore wi connect to metheus lore)

I think you may have missed Adventure Mode and the Cyclum puzzle, Wilson frees Maxwell from the throne, he "dies" and is seemingly revived, with Wilson questioning this in the Cyclum comic, together they work together to create the Jury rigged portal that brings in all the other survivors, and Charlie overtakes it turning it into the Florid Postern.

Bit of a TL:DR but I think that covers a good chunk of what happened.

Last I checked Wilson was the third most played character. I love to play as Wilson, personally.

That’s odd- I hardly ever see ANYONE pick to play as Wilson on Xbox, it’s Mostly Wendys & Wigfrids.. but rarely if ever Wilson. I honestly see more WES players then I do Wilson- and it’s probably because his playstyle is boring lame and uninteresting- if I want to play a character with no perks I can just be Wendy and throw away Abigail’s flower.. or pick Wes and Ditch Balloon-O-Mancy crafts.

You get the point right? Wilson needs to be more fun.

Maxwell on the other hand I hope they save for the last refresh with a massive 10 minute animation of lore drop.

Ok i just woke up and want to clarify few things, i do think that Maxwell should get rework first but(i really like him as a character and his shadow powers have great potential for rework) but i still believe that Wilson will get one first because of Roadmap, also i think it would be strange for Klei to make one rework after another so there probably will be content update or QoL in-between, but i guess we can only wait now to see who was right

Wilson's the mascot. They threw him with the others cause even non-players recognize who Wilson is. He's basically the Mickey Mouse of Klei.

It would be pretty hilarious if they did do that, I don't think they will though, that would be a bit... anticlimactic
