Some boat related questions, out of curiosity.

Obligatory Terra Curiosity Thread.

I've some questions to you all regarding boats.

1. Would you ever want more boat shapes for variety? Or are you fine with just the current cookie boats?
2. Would you like to see more boat structures ever be added? If so, what would you have in mind?
3. Similar to the first question but, would you like a feature that allows building custom shaped boats?
4. Would you like to see new addons for existing boat structures?(Boat structures being things like the deck lamp and lightning attractor)
5. Would you ever like to see new boat types? Like upgraded boats or gimmick boats?

Me personally, I wouldn't mind seeing new boat shapes for variety, and maybe a new mast addon similar to the crow's nest from hornet's mod.
I just felt like making another curiosity thread, feel free to discuss, but keep it civil!

Well the boating recipe was changed during March QoL beta before being reverted back before the end of that beta with the devs stating they’ll change the crafting recipes in a more appropriate update.

Thats a pretty big hint changes are coming..

And call me crazy but I’ve always felt like the current boat was always just a “Beta” version anyway- realistically there’s no reason why this round platform can’t become “boat shaped” & still do all the things it currently does, with all its upgrades and stuff.

The only sad part about that is the pun “Cookie Cutters” will have lost a bit of their funny meaning to them, but honestly I’d love a boat that isn’t shaped like a cookie- (Shipwrecked had tons of boat looking boats..)

I want a boat/ram Hybrid. Instead of causing leaks and damage it does damage. Great for those stupid pesky sea boulders. Just a circle spike boat of death.

There is a good mod that adds different boats. But creating a custom form... It was able to do it, but, well, it was painful. Too much load, too many lags, no way to delete even through the console. Perhaps there is some normal way to introduce this feature, but apparently too much freedom leads to complex processing of details. So without normal optimization, no thanks. Boats lag enough even without it. But just different shapes would be nice.

I've had an idea for some time where boats have built in structure.

Boat with a built in furnace

Boat with built in kitchenware

Boat with built in storage compartments

Other than boats like those I'd like a portable boat to traverse small rivers and short trips. Possibly a canoe/barrel lid that slowly sinks or what not if you stay out in water too long or can't traverse deeper waters. These tiny boats can't have structures and can't have any light unless you stop rowing.

Boats just need a way to be able to cook food on it without the structures taking up 40% of the boat space. Why did Klei add a structure meant to replace the firepit as a light source on boats without giving us a way to cook with it? Crockpots also take up way too much space on boats, there should be a smaller boat version.

I want to be able to make a water village like that town from Pokemon Ruby. Boat bases look weird and can't grow crops. Would love if I could chain a bunch of stationary square structures together with some of them being floating gardens.

Klei could also really adjust how close we are able to place objects next to one another. Having to perfectly remember the order of priority is so needlessly tedious. I'd love this change big time.

Driftwood and Living Logs are such wood-like materials, it would be a shame if we couldn't make special boats with them

Also can we please get a mast add-on version of birdcage (+ approaching entities indicator) in the form of this awesome Crow's Nest mod?
