  1. 1. Have you been playing the reworked Wolfgang since he came out?

Recommended Posts

Replied yes, but I always end up never returning to my new Wolfgang worlds just because I didn't have fun until after I clicked the disconnect button. Might try to tame an ornery beefalo with him the next time though, because who needs strong muscles if you have a strong cow?

Allow me to be the voice of logic & reasoning in this Wolfgang debate: I’ve played Both Pre-Rework & Reworked Wolfgang I even had some extremely casual almost Newbie level friends play pre-rework & reworked Wolfgang.

For a Casual player the removal of 3x hunger drain rate where he can still be topped off in Might while STARVING to Death is a god send change to the character: They no longer need to rush food constantly.. and simply only need to chunk Stone dumbells at Birds to not only gain Mightiness with each toss, but to also collect food- the most noob friendly food to get is even available with this option: Butterfly wings.

Now I’m not sure how throwing dumbells on PC works (maybe it’s awful idk..) but with an Xbox controller all you need to do is press X when the Attack prompt shows up on screen and Wolfgang automatically smacks the enemy.. Thats it no carefully calculated clicking timing just X=Dead Birdy.

Reworked Wolfgang may feel “Slower” but he’s also easier to pick up and play, I managed to kill out a incoming hound wave While at like 20% Hunger with no food in my inventory because I was able to take a second to pump dumbells or jump on a Gym to temporarily get mighty & smack those Pups up.

Had this been Pre-Rework: I’d already be wimpy: With no food in sight & have died.

In short: Any character tied to Hunger in a multiplayer game where other players can literally horde most of the food for themselves is BAD… because They can effectively make YOU BAD by not allowing you access to Wolfgang’s full power.

Wigfrid only eats meat True… however- Wigfrid Also Spawns with a free stack of meat and a powerful weapon and armor to get MORE Meat, she ALSO doesn’t become Wimpy and Weak AF when she’s not eating Meat…

Wolfgangs changes are actually BETTER for him, I can kill that incoming hound wave after flipping my Dumbell at low hunger then use said wrecked hounds meats to cook more food with.

People are only seeing “Rework bad” because they’ve probably never been in a situation where “Wolfgang no food oops Me Dead.”

Wolfgang was never a character I cared to play, the rework doesn't change that.

Reworks are supposed to make characters more interesting for mains and to attract new players. Like Woodie’s was to me, I hated Woodie and since his rework I played more than 1k hours exclusively as him.

Both answers are sad.

Well, Wolfgang on a beefalo can keep his mighty meter at 0, and he can also hold it at 100 by riding with heavy things. Also he seems to be perfect character for toadstool fight now. And if you just like to vibe and sit at base he is better for that too. Wolfgang is still playable. kinda. meaby. I guess..?

I'll play him because I play everyone, but I'd rather not. Meaby reworking characters that already work isn't such a good idea after all.

I mean the rework didn't actually add anything interesting to him which is my biggest gripe and from what I've seen when people say he feels more fun they usually say because he feels less op but that's just baffling to me. From pre to post rework Wolfgang nothing substantial changed about his gameplay aside from the might meter.

Old wolfgang is dead and buried, you guys can stop spamming threads about the rework now! cheers!

Au contraire, mon cher, I say "keep them coming", vigorously, till the Gembell (all Dumb-bells really) durability is addressed by a consistent buff (perhaps 2x), and Wolf keeps Mighty up during fights/long boss fights as he should. Its's a start, at least.

Wolfgang has always been my least played character, I think the only time I legitimately played him was when I unlocked him in like, 2013?

This refresh has made me LESS interested in Wolfgang, since weight lifting and the gym seem incredibly boring and somewhat time consuming.

I don't know what Wolfgang needs, since I'm not a Wolfgang player, but the simplicity of high hunger = mighty and low hunger = wimpy seems way more interesting, convenient, and ties itself nicely in the already existing mechanics of Don't Starve.

I haven't given any feedback on anything Wolfgang because, well, i don't play Wolf either, but this part is such a big thing, I think. --I honestly do trust Klei to figure it out, but I do think it's important to be reminded every once-in-a-while that simple ≠ bad. New mechanics are fun and all, but you can only do so much at once before you start losing people.

I dunno, I haven't really got any solutions to any of this (or a full grasp on what the hell is even going on right now, really) but I think it's important to know that backtracking a bit and simplifying is not lazy or bad.

I put yes. I bought the console version of DST just to play this rework and to not blindly critique it even when my first impressions were negative.

The biggest problems I see is how Wolfgang has no alternatives to impacting his mighty meter aside from working out. Gets really annoying to tackle since it will always be guaranteed time working out everyday that can't be changed.

Low hunger is extremely punishing for your mighty meter but high hunger doesn't help much.

Flavor perks are extremely underwhelming especially statue carrying, and rowing meanwhile the piggyback and marble armor become a hindernace as soon as you power down and you don't feel inclined to use your strength outside fighting.

Normal form has nothing to it.

Wolf is my favorite. I love the big dumb scared strongman, I like how in his weakest state he seems almost as pitiful as wes but at his strongest he's the castle others look for. I won't avoid playing him but I haven't been able to enjoy anything new about him aside from his consistent 2x damage and increased harvest strength.

Wolfgang taught me the struggles of hunger, but through that tribulation the gift of managing it. With his strength I managed to defeat every boss and learned so much about combat. Wolf was my main..my go too..and now all that's changed..I've stopped playing Wolf because he plays so differently now... I've seen alot of replies say he is "basically the same" but he isn't.. I expect a big tweak for him soon..and hopefully I can enjoy him again, but it's bye for now.

And hello too Wurt, that green sexy merm beast, who I didn't like at all before and have really enjoyed her since I've given her a chance...which is weird cause she doesn't do anything special aside from Merm houses..and there's still Wortox who was my second favorite behind Wolfgang..I don't know who else you play, but take the time to learn a new survivor who you never liked...you might be pleasantly surprised..or dont I guess...only thing now is too wait for the devs and see what happens.

Cheers.
