yay, not a Wolfgang thread.

So yes, gunpowder still exists, but I've never seen someone would kill bosses with it (and if they did, they quickly learned that it's a bad idea because of its crafting tediousness, low area of damage and a need to freeze/lull a boss prior lighting it).

Do you even use a gunpowder for something else except decoration? If yes, for what exactly? If not, what would you change/add to it?

Because after I have learnt to kite every boss, I don't see any point in it except calling an earthquake in caves.

P.S.: thanks to DajeKotlyar for reminding me that shadow knight abuse is still a thing

Ive used it to blow up half of misery toad’s hp in the past

late game once u have acres of petrified forests and bearger to harvest it ull be swimming in nitre and the game throws so much meat at u i just automatically eggify the majority of it and let it rot. So later on i find gunpowder to be really easy to craft.

Its also really nice to blow up a group of marble trees with a single gunpowder. U have to plant them in a square grid with the middle spot empty for the gunpowder, theres video showing how to do it on YT.

Ive also been meaning to blow up crab king but i havent done it yet  its a funny way to skip fights like that in the late game i think.

hmmm, I never thought about exploding a misery toadstool with it, gonna give it a try some day™.

But I still prefer face-to-face fights - they're much more interesting (except crab king with Pearl's Pearl, he's just too tedious to fight without killer bees or smth similar imo)

Yeah i agree but i dont mind using gunpowder to put a dent into misery especially not as a solo x1.0 character

its a nice way to make use of all the nitre and rotten eggs that gather up by the time im interested in fighting misery.

Heres the marble shrub vid btw

They also have a vid where they devise a crazy way to use it on Celestial champion lol

Oh yeah, sure I use it all the time for the demoman roleplaying. I love to have a stack of gunpowder on me and use it for unnecessary destruction. I mine thulecite statues with it for exsample, rocks when there are a couple of them close. unrefine boards and cut cutstone by turning it in a bunch of walls and then placing gunpowder on them for aoe hammering, blow up structures instead of carrying hammer, dig stuff up like a couple of shrooms if they are close instead of using shovel like a normal person, blow up berry bushes to collect them faster, kill death worms, kill frogs, use as a finish off fuelweaver, use it for an instant aoe ignite if I need that for something. None of these are actually useful but they sure as heck are satisfying especially when you are Wes.

I use gunpowder to open large amounts of stone fruit.

1 gunpowder can blow open 10 stone fruit stacked together. So if i take a chest full of stone fruit (360 stone fruit total) and divide it into 36 stacks of 10 stone fruit dropped in the same place I can open all of them using only 1 gunpowder. Very convenient if you wanted large amount of rot/stone or just wanted to get some stone fruit bush seeds.

haha lag goes brrr

Though I don't see a lot of sense in stone fruits after RWYS update because plants can grow in winter now. Maybe if you're short on rocks tho...

You still don't have to sow the seeds, no need to till the plot, no need to water the farm plot outside of spring, no need to learn the crop combos,...

the only thing you need is fertilize them every now and then and get
65% veggies of value 1 from 60 stone fruit (if you have 20 bushes) every 2.5 days, which is just about a stack of good veggies.
And they won't rot like crops do.
And like you said, you get some rocks as well.

Farming is still better (as it should), but requires more user input and more knowledge even after you have the friendly fruit fly and you grow them in spring.

That said, you still need to turn them into like pierogies if you want healing, wheras for example roasted potatoes alone work well as heals.

I wish there was a way to make them sticky so you could throw them onto enemies like sticky-bombs, but without having to re-light them every time you wanna throw one (it just isn't reliable in the heat of the moment). That would definitely make me use them more often.

i forgot it exists until the terraria crossover (the chest have a chance of having gun powder)

i find it a waste of time when weather pain exists

Unless your console player: then you’ll find it a pain to use the weather pain.

I love gunpowder and Slurtle Slime (both go kaboom)

Intresting fact- Bearger chases after food so you lure him to the kaboom, Deerclops chases after and tries to destroy base structures so you can just place some decoy chests full of Kaboom, most other bosses are stationary and need to be summoned so you can surround them in Kaboom.

Also bosses with Anti-Kaboom resistance can be exploited by just setting the Kabooms of at different timing intervals instead of all at once.

I personally find it fun- but I’m also the reason RUNWAY was Nerfed in Rogue Company.. don’t like my kabooms? Tough.

you can kill some boss within 10 seconds by useing  gunpowder .

as I said - it's too tedious to craft it for bosses (for me at least) and boss's drop can burn up.

19 Gunpowder for Deerclops, 29 for Bearger (and MooseGoose as well if I remember correctly). This puts them at a low enough health to kill with 1-3 shots from a regular spear. Wait until they are no longer on fire after the blast then finish them off for the loot. Pan Flute is obviously the best way to keep them stationary.

Be Walter or (even better) Wicker and farm plenty Birds (and Krampi). Be Wendy and mush Spiders and/or Monkeys. Or Webber for "fratricide". Turn all meat into Eggs. Spawn Toad and drop a Spore bomb onto those stacks of Eggs to rot them in no-time. Burn a forest. Walk (of shame) CareBear through another petrified forest. Hello Gunpowder galore! Do Dance Emote beside AFw and CC dying in seconds -> slow-burn sure profit.
