Does anyone think Wigfrid's Fireproof falsetto needs rework?

Recommended Posts

I think I'm never gonna use this song. 33% Fire damage reduction + Spittlefish for material... The perfectly minor combination.

Everything in this update is very satisfying, but this one.. The fireproof falsetto.. It feels like a placeholder rather than unique ability to me.

Also please consider all buffs' required inspiration is same, so you can just use healing buff rather than fireproof one.

What's your opinion about the fireproof falsetto?

An idea I had was for it to add a buff that provided resistance to fire and freezing. Even if the fire resistance was buffed it feels really really niche. I feel adding freezing resistance would make it a good song. Could call it "Song of Ice and Fire"! : )

Why not, instead, make characters glow and warm up while this song is in effect (like a thermal stone); would be great for Winter fighting, and could certainly help keeping teams both warm and safe from the darkness (if even just a little bit) during battles or hound waves. Just my opinion though, so as always, take it with a grain of salt.

It needs to have a higher fire damage protection than what it has now. At least 75% or 80%, and even with that, I rarely see it will be used.

I'd have gone with 25% defense boost to all damage, for everyone. Like an alternative and complement to Warly's garlic recipe. Perhaps Wigfrid should gain less, due to her natural resistance, boosting her defense from 25% to 35% while playing the song.

Ice and fire resistance would be cool if we had any very regular situation to deal with them, and you usually doesn't stick in the middle of hound waves or you'll get stun-lock anyway so the best thing here is do the same than other character and don't swim into fire or kill ice hound too fast, doesn't make a big difference to me, I'm not even gonna mention Deerclops (bruh, I did)...

I think the best I can imagine for this song is to extinguish fire around you, as it requires a Spittlefish to craft, I'm very surprised this is not the intended power of this song. :wilsondisapproving: doing that in the middle of a combat could be very useful, Luxury fan anim is too long to be used in combat, Ice Staff can only take one target at the time... water balloons ? Nah, this song power would be lit be amazing : shouting down fire while you beat fire hounds in a forest, nobody can do that !

This! If the fire resistance was upped, and it gave some insulation, that would be amazing. Maybe there could be a colder counterpart as well, at some point

For tank character wigfrid, maybe it could give you freeze protection as well? That'd buff it and give it a reason to be used against deerclops or ice hounds.

does wigfrid need to maim deerclops even more though

It should just put out fires, honestly. The entire screen. Screw it. Let her have it. No other character could possibly fit an archetype of fire fighter

Walter has many quotes talking about fire safety and the importance of being responsible around it.

the some songs should be better or be stackable by 2 (2 warble songs for 50% durability)

Brain song - 1 point of sanity per hit + shadow damage multiplier by 50% (Wigfrid goes 1.25 to 1.825)

Courage song - 50% sanity drain + allies won't get scared

Fire song - 33% fire resistance + 33% faster attack speed

We have to consider a couple of aspects about this song:

  1. It is pretty hard to make, finding the fish would take time and a bunch of resources, so the effects should be worth the effort.
  2. Songs can't be casted at any time, so the effect needs to be something that is worth casting while during a fight.

As it was mentioned earlier, even if it provided a high enough fire resistance, the amount of times you will face the need to have it are minimum.

Given how complex it is to make, I'd go with all of the above suggestions, making it a versatile and complex perk:

  • Let it give fire damage resistance and overheat damage resistance to everyone (useful at Klaus fight, Dragonfly, summer fights)
  • Let it put out all fires within a radius of her, as long as the song is active (useful at summer fights, specially near fire hounds)
  • Let it stabilize the body temperature of everyone around wigfrid above 10 degrees (Overcharged WX anti freezing mechanic). This would mean that as long as she sings that, nobody will freeze next to her.
They will "warm up in the heat of the battle" but not really "warm" like a real fire would do, since as soon as the song ends they will freeze as usual. This would be useful during Klaus, and any winter or early spring fight.

To be honest, the existence of this scroll is kind of unfair for Willow. Her immunity to fire is what makes her unique. It's not a matter of numbers to me (how much resistance to fire) but about concept. Is like taking away from Willow's uniqueness

Thats just my opinion, i still think asking for REWORKS after 24 hours of launch is kind of too much.

The opposite actually. Previous instances have shown us that Klei will either make further tweaks to the rework as a "Rework 2.0" during these few post-rework days we're in or the things will stay as they are for the forseable future. They really give importance to the feedback but it's gotta be quick and strong.

Winona rework came out, forums quickly complained she was loosing hunger way too much, they reworked her rework so she wouldn't lose hunger for her crafts for a short while after her first craft.

Willow rework came out, forums were enraged that her increased seconds of fire resistance wasn't enough so they reworked her rework, giving her total fire immunity.

Warly rework came out, people complained about the state of the insulator pack so the rework was updated to give insulator pack 8 slots and chef pouch 6.

Woodie rework came out, forums complained that the new wereforms were too weak so the rework was reworked to give weregoose waterwalking, give weremoose 90% resistence and a slower-depleating weremeter for all forms.

Wendy rework came out, people weren't happy with the glass cannon mechanics so the rework was reworked to make Abigail's damage dependant on the time of the day again.

As the precedence has shown in each and every rework to this date, there's always a few little bits that doesn't land right with these reworks for which Klei heeds the community feedback and makes tweaks to their reworks. These are bound to happen as unlike RoT updates, new content isn't beta tested beforehand. As such, swift and constructive criticism is very important imo. We should show that as a whole we liked the rework but we find the Fireproof Falsetto weak for its cost and effects and we ask this specific book to be reworked into something more substantial, such as overheating resistance, fire extinguishing or any other good suggestions.

I get what you say, and i agree with you. Feedback is really important to balance things out. However, you are talking about tweaks which is not the same as reworks. Reworks come with changes to key components or mechanics, rather than just numbers or QoL adjusts.

My intention was to calm people down, encourage them to keep trying things and give feedback in a more objective way rather than just going "this isn't good enough, rework pls"
