All you need to know about Wurt and Merm update

Do Craftsmerm Houses work for you all?  Built 3 of them last night, on swamp, one directly next to the (already-existing) king, and after 3-4 days I still hadn't seen anything spawn from them.  Do I need something else? (Maybe the initial spawn is longer than that?)

Yeah I had and still have some similar issues with them.

I constructed them during winter and merms didn't spawn.

After winter was over merms did spawn.

They seem to wander very far away from their homes since I notice that most of the time I don't see them at all (I have 3 houses), they also don't seem to run home at night.

Make sure it's not winter. They don't come out during winter.

Any ideas on how to get a merm to permanently stay on a boat out in the water? My initial method of befriending the merm, jumping onto a boat, sailing away from land, save/exit(to break the follow), then using the plank to jump back to land, hasn't been working. Everytime I come back to the area the merm has returned to land. Is this even going to be possible or am I missing something here?

You can try punching him, this also makes him lose his loyalty.

But also puts their aggro on me and turns it into a cage match I'm not trying to have. They'll also have helms on so I'm not trying to knock any durability.

If Merm King hunger works the same as player hunger wouldn't you expect it's 200 hunger to last more than 2 days?

According to the wiki hunger drains 75 points per day for characters with default hunger drain.

Even though he has the same hunger mechanics as players, he has a different hunger drain rate and starvation damage rate. His hunger drain rate is 50 hunger per day, and his starvation damage rate is defined in terms of how long it'd take him to die: 2 days.

Durian Seeds or Pepper Seeds or Eggplant Seeds or Pumpkin Seeds or Onion Seeds or Garlic Seeds | Min = 1 / Max = 4 | + Filler

If you get multiple from this set, will you get multiple of the same seed type or can you get several different ones?

50 per day for 200 hunger would be 4 days.

I think when you promote a Merm to King his hunger is halfway, that is why (unless fed again as king) he dies in 2 days. You can then feed him an extra 100 hunger points so he lasts 4 days.

With the way the mechanic currently works as of today, Wurt could potentially survive never eating herself, and requiring just 50 hunger points in veggies every 3-4 days:

  1. Promote a Merm king when you are about to starve, it will get you to full stats. The amount of hunger you get will last for several days.
  2. Don't eat or feed the Merm king, he will die in about 2 days. When he dies you will get full stats. Since your hunger has been reset again, you get 2 more days to survive without eating
  3. Repeat step one.

I guess this will be patched eventually but it's pretty neat to learn to play Wurt without having to worry about much.

Spoiler

What I'm really hoping for, is that when they do patch this, they patch the entering and exiting cave reset (it shouldn't reset your stats at all, just give you the boost and take it away, and whatever % you had of health, sanity and hunger is kept on the other shard) BUT that promoting a new king DOES reset your health and sanity values, but not your hunger. When the king dies you don't get a reset either, just get a similar % of whatever stats you had with the boost.

This would give WURT a unique way to heal both HP and sanity by creating Kings when (and if) they die. All merms in the shard could probably get this effect on them as well, so if you had your personal army with you pretty hurt from all the battling, getting a new King will not only restore their morale, but also heal their wounds.

You don't even need for him to die ^^ Just go in caves if you only have the Merm King on the surface, every time you go back to the surface you will be fully regenerated, it's free real godmode.

Yes, that's how long his hunger meter will last. The starvation damage rate is basically "When hunger reaches 0, how long will it take for him to die?" The answer is 2 days. That means that from full hunger, it'll take him 6 days to die of starvation (4 for his hunger to deplete, and 2 for his health to deplete).

Can we get some info on follower merm loyalty time? For both normal merms and warrior merms. I'm having trouble to locate/figure that.

Like, how much food do you have to give them and for how long it lasts? I had info that the maximum loyalty time was for about 52 food, which you should get by feeding each merm 4 or 5 stone fruits, but the time I get before they start to leave seems inconsistent.
