My tip was out dated so here's another:You can farm silk by putting traps near a spider den and catching them, also you can easily kill off a den by killing the spiders as they come out one by one when dusk falls, this will also ensure that you fight no warrior spiders.

Do you want to rule the world with just a torch? Here is how it works:

Destroy all pig house outside of villages leaving the pigs homeless. Use the materials to increase the house numbers in your village.

Now you have a big village and lots of homeless pigs.

Pigs of the big village are your mercs, they work for meat and the houses will replace them if they die. The homeless pigs are your free army, they will not be replaced if they die.

Use your free army to kill tentacles, tree guardians, hounds, spiders and destroy dens.

To move your free army you need a torch at dusk or night. The homeless pigs will stay near the fire of the torch and you can lead them to your enemies. As soon as they are in range they will engage. To destroy dens you have to wait for the pigs to kill all spiders and then attack it, or attack and move away so the pigs can clear the area.

When the full moon approaches, you may want to leave your free army stationary at night and move away. To do so, make a fire pit and put your torch away, at dusk and move away.

Full moon tip: It lasts for two days. The first day is odd and the second is even.

Oh, and it is free but you can hire them if you a planning a massive attack using all pigs of the map.

You can use normal traps to catch spiders during the dusk/night. You can also make walls of traps to take on the huge masses of spiders that follow you when you kill 1.

Yeah, I just started doing this. I went to the spider nest closest to my base and planted about a dozen traps all around it. Now, I can go there every now and then at dusk, harvest and replant all the traps, piss off the spiders currently coming out of the nest, lead them into the traps, and harvest/replant again. This is a quick, cheap way to constantly farm silk and monster meat. Also, if the nest is getting too big and about to make a queen, I can kill it easily after trapping all its spiders and replant the eggs to make it level 1 again.

If you have a bird cage, you can give it alot of useless monster meat and they give out eggs. If you have REALLY much monster meat, you can survive the winter just doing the trick (4 monster meat -> give 3 to a bird -> cook in crock pot with last monster meat -> meatballs -> ??? -> profit)If you see a beefallo charging at you, use the beefalo horn - it will de-aggro him.Bee mine also triggers bees at the bee boxes... If you have like 4 bee boxes and enemy steps on the bee mine, then about 20 bees wil attack.Shadow manipulator is useless if you have science machine AND alchemy engine.Getting a garland is less effective than collecting flowers.

How i farm silk:I have currently 6 pig houses near my base arranged in a circle, once the circle is complete is will house 8 pig houses but its not finished yet. I have 2 pig houses parallel to each other corresponding to north south and east, i havnt finished the west side yet. I have around ~15 spider dens that i got from farming spider queens and what not, and i take one and place it in the center of the village. Since the doorway update, the pigs walk out of their homes and trigger the sticky ground and spider come out of their dens, and as soon as a spider hurts a pig all the pigs engage it, resulting in a full out war. This works well, and is most efficient from the spider den levels 1 and 2, as teir 3 it becomes to difficult for the pigs to deal with ~5 warrior spiders. But at teir 3 i go out and destroy the nest while the pigs are occupied with all the spiders and i always replant it with the spider eggs i get. I currently have 8 full stacks of silk, and around 3 stacks of spider glands. Pics on request.

You can lure a Koelephant to your base and simply tramp him between hay walls for free manure every day. He can also serve as a nice meat reserve if needed. :kiwi:

why that?? Edited by Luigisopa

Controlled burns are a convenient way to remove spider dens you don't want to deal with, as well as easy pickings for coal. Pretty sure this may be an old tip, but it still works either way, as long as you make sure nothing outside of the control burn area can be caught on fire. Don't make the same mistake I made a few maps ago, and pay attention before a forest is up in flames.

If you see a spider queen spawning a easy way to deal with her without getting hit is to attack 3 times before running away and letting her do her attack animation then going in and repeating the process, when she spawns a spider kill the spider before re focusing her, if down properly you can kill her with out being hit (I would equip a football helmet and log suit just in case)

basic farm plots are more convenient for the exploration style of game play and cheaper to make yielding low maintenance high production crops at a low cost, and easy to end up with a full plantation quickly.fireflies can be dropped in your base to create a nice permanent fireless light

This is especially effective when you are 1 vs 1 with a Spear/Tentacle Spike. If you use a spike, you cannot kill some mobs clinically.

Hit Clockwork Knight 2 times after its attack animation and then run

Hit Deerclops 1 after its attack animation and then run

Keep on attacking Frogs until death (tentacle only)

Dodge the Hound's 1st attack and then hit it until death

Keep on attacking Killer Bee until death

Hit Krampus 2 times after its attack animation and then run

Keep on attacking MacTusk until death

Keep on attacking Mosquito until death

Keep on attacking Spider / Spider Warrior until death

Hit Spider Queen 3-4 times after its attack animation and then run

Keep on attacking Tallbird until death

Hit Tentacles 1 time after its attack animationand then run

Hit Tree Guard 4 times after its attack animation and then run

Keep on attacking WeeTusk until death (tentacle only)

Hit Koalefant/Winter Koalefant2-3 times after its attack animation and then run

You can dodge Guardian Pigs / Pigs / Merms attack easily but you will fail to kill them.

You mean spear, right?

Deerclops does not stun lock anymore so u can only hit him once before he hits you , but you should just get beefalo on mating season , pigs , do it your self or just use your bee mines and tooth trap's to kill him , kite him with a fire dart / fire staff is the best way for me because you don't really get hurt but you loose the dear cost of 1 sanity or so that's what i remember it was and also you can use Wilson's beard to survive the cold . Does anyone know how to pick up items while holding one ? because i feel like i need to know.

Hire 2 pigs with monster meat and walk away from the village with them then once far away hit one of the pigs. The unhit pig will attack the hit pig and vice versa because of the AI the unhit pig will likely be the survivor and he will have very low health so taking him out on your own won't present much of a chellenge
