Modded items/structures/mechanics you wish were vanilla?

Recommended Posts

Just a simple question, what modded items or structures do you wish were official? Or you think would otherwise fit seamlessly into the vanilla game?

For me, I'd have to say the Nightmare Chest mod specifically, it would help significantly on public servers as long time survivors can keep important items out of reach of grieferes or newbies without hogging up their on hand inventory.

Discuss.

Geometric Placement obviously. No need to give reasons.

That’s the only thing I want. Try playing on console without it. I was also thinking they could possibly add a feature where holding L2 or R2 while placing an item could allow you to move in a different way than normal for finer movements. Allowing for better placement without the grid.

The zoom feature also seems kind of cool. It’s hard to even see character skins at the default distance.

Wow! You guys have so many cool mods I don’t even know about.

To have our house (or underground, if you prefer) also on DST! Essential! Now I can't play without being able to build my personal Vault.
Putting entry with a key would also solve the problem of grieferes!

Can we go with mechanics? I like using repair combine. It's mostly just a small quality of life mod that let's you manage item durability better. Oh, and pretty much all of rezecib's client mods.

Alrighty, I updated the thread title. :p

We need more client sided features that you could toggle on if you wanted to. One that wasn't mentioned yet is "mini map hud". Having to open the map every 2 minutes became annoying at this point to me and I personally don't see a challenge into it. Having a mini map always open on a side is just convenient.

Sometimes I use action queue, 99% of the times I use it is to mass chop trees and/or pick up logs. Even with pigs help, I find mass chopping trees for 15 real life minutes boring, so that mod lets me pay much less attention to the whole process.

Other mods already mentioned in the thread but worth repeating cause they are awesome: geometric placement, gesture wheel, instant drop and combined status.

► Really wanted:

FUELED lazy deserter for solo worlds. I know we have telestaff ect, but lazy deserter then is kinda usless. Only can be used to destruction own sanity on solo. Great idea to spent desert stones or nightmare fuels!

Inspect Bundle - because why not? Always can check what is inside without open! (Shouldnt work with gifts from Winter Feast ;))

Beefalo information - something like boats in SW with knowledge about HP, tame for tamed beef during riding on. (mod)

Any update for pets - like "My pet" or others. With adding new skills for our familiars.

• I want to see also endothermic version for scaled furnace.

• SKINS for others things. Eg. Victorian Axe for Gold Axe. (THIS MOD)

► Wanted but not important:

• After log off dropping more rare items on ground. And adding more icons which can we see on map like celestial orb.

• HP meter - commong for mobs and epic meter for bosses and champions. (mod)

• I want to see any item or mechanic what can give option to change skins for structures. (mod)

And rest my mods are client like: "Show nickname", "Admin board", "Special event", "Geometric", "Minimap", "Gesture Wheel", "Smarter crockpot", "Item info", "Combined Status", "Wormhole/Tentacles marks", "Dusk and night music", "Status announcements", "Quick drop", "More skin loadout", "Skin queue", "50 save slots", "Skin extender" or/and "Drops reset countdown" - for skins list, "Victorian HUD".

More of mods (above) are cosmetics, features or upgrading/adding features what should be in game.

EDIT: Also if I can mention things from DLC in DS. Coffee, more foods from SW and Hamlet, Root Trunk and Vortex Cloak!

  1. P0STY for transport resources/tools/emergency-aid between players. Maybe chester can be transformed into something similar using down+bird feathers.
  2. G10MM-3R for resources gathering.
  3. Microwave Denshi Renji for to refresh food (turn 100 food at 50% freshness to 40 food at 100% freshness by default)
  4. Iron Safes ,with Gorge safe model, that serve the same purpose as OP's Nightmare chest

Among those maybe only Iron Safe will fit easily into vanilla game. The rest is so modernistic and would need to turn into invention from Voxola R&D Department.

Gesture Wheel is a must! The game is so impractical at letting you use the emote mechanics and the mod makes it so organic and reliable that for all intents and purposes I see it as a part of the game.

Dusk and Night Music is another, honestly adding the "missing music" needed for the hours of the day without it. The regular season tracks are so wellnmade that it feels very natural and a part of the game, stuff that feels like it should've been on DST from the get go.

Last but not least Leggy Bird nedds to be in the base game forf tallbirds have very skinny legs:P

Simple health bar . It really does help knowing how low on health something is, especially when youve never seen it before

I personally don't like that mod. I think it changes a lot the aesthetic of the game and looks more like rpg style.

I personally haven't seen or heard of any structure mod (or actually, any non-client mod) that I wished were in the vanilla game. Some of these are OP and/or significantly changes the game and playstyle, but even the rest are not necessary in my opinion. I just prefer vanilla :)

the questions is which mods.... not which SERVER mods

If I understood a thing or two about modding and graphic design, I would have modded Umbrella Rack and Coat Hanger objects. I don't like objects cluttering on the ground and chests are kinda lame for dressing items so I'd have made the rack display all the umbrellas stored in it, and the coat hanger display the clothing items and hats like the winter's feast tree displaying the ornaments. Now those are items I'd have liked as mods to be added to the base game.

Also Marble Walls. There is a mod for them but it's so ugly. I'd love Marble Walls added from that mod to the base game with a properly done, aesthetic design. Perhaps that's the only structure mod I'd appreciate and actively desire added to the real game.

this is a fantastic idea. we already have some models from Hamlet to work as a base. I hope a modder can catch that idea and make it happen ;)
