So, About the Shadow throne

Recommended Posts

I got a question. If Maxwell was once king of the shadows, does that mean he created most of the monsters in the world, and since a new reign came out, new mobs started to show up, leading me to believe he who controls the throne can change the world, which begs 2 questions
1.What did Maxwell Create compared what was already there, aka most likely created by Them
2.Why the hell didn't Wilson make anything...that we know of.

As far as i know Max made pretty much everything apart from the ruins. I'm guessing he just built over the ruins but i could be wrong. Its been years since i looked at the DS lore. Also Wilson seemed to only be on the throne for a few minutes.

Come to think of it... there could be a plot hole. Max says when he entered there was nothing but THEM and dust or something. But we know he didn't make the ruins...

Or birds, including but not limited to the M/Goose. OR the Depth Worms.

I think Wilson might not have been accepting of his fate yet, so he didn't want to make anything or bring anybody into the Constant. He was still struggling to be freed when Charlie arrived, unlike Maxwell who was just sitting there pitifully.

Wilson didn't create anything because he hadn't been corrupted or broken by the throne.
Maxwell and Charlie were both affected by the throne before even sitting on it via the incident with the Codex Umbra.
What was in the Constant had been mainly destroyed by Them, not created, hence their desire for someone on the throne.

I take Max's words to mean that he created most of the contents of the Throne Room; that that specific place was a dusty void with little more than Them.
Further reason for this: we see his statue crumbling when Wilson struggles against the throne, and Charlie is able to shape the lair at will...and it's implied by the Metheus murals that the Throne may have been near the epicenter of the Ancients' collapse, not to mention that the Ancient King could be said to be the first Shadow King to sit on the throne. That cataclysm may be what shaped it.
All this together leads me to think that it's totally plausible that the 'throne room' is a really flexible place largely shaped by its current 'ruler'. And it reflects Them...and their tendency to feed on the controlling vices of Their toys.

Maxwell had a craving for respect and fortune, and that drew him in. The throne room initially reflects his chasing of grandeur, and celebration of his stature..
When Wilson took the throne...if the portal puzzle is any indication, he felt pretty bitter toward the former, and the crumbling Maxwell statues showed that.
Now that Charlie's at the helm...she's the star of the show. Not some underling, abandoned and left to be forgotten. The throne room absolutely reflects her new standing as the Shadow Queen; one that demands respect.

I'm personally more interested in the question:" Who controls Charlie's mind?"

Maxwell always says, " They. Their."He's probably talking about shadows... There is some creature that craves power in the Universe... I think so.. I like Charlie as a character, not a villain... Why she was chosen as the villain... Perhaps the entity knows of some sort of weakness or ability...

I think the world of DS has been long-established.. Just Maxwell changed some things in it that he decided to use to escape from the throne, but Charlie calls more and more new monsters to destroy the characters... Charlie wants to consume the entire Universe... Well, that's crazy, but I  so think....

Why... so... many... ellipsis... I think Charlie isn't completely controlled by shadows. If you haven't seen the New Reign Cinematic, you probably wouldn't get it. In that it shows her coming to balance with her shadow and more human part, creating a more complex and powerful Charlie. Maybe the old Charlie already craved power, or wants to get back at Maxwell, who knows.

Who says Charlie is evil? Maybe it's all a trick, to trick them.  So she can free the characters.

We know our characters are Gate keepers, so Charlie needs Them to make some kind of plan. Shadows prepare something terrible not only to our heroes, but apparently all the inhabitants of different dimensions...

Pugna calls us the gatekeepers, but he also thinks we’re here to return him/his people to the throne.

The gatekeepers are probably long dead, and we’ve got a case of mistaken identity. They have been in there for a while, after all.

Given how exposure to Them seemed to change Maxwell and how much he appears to have mellowed out after being released from the Throne, I think that They're using Charlie's desire for revenge to make her easier to manipulate. She isn't quite a villain on her own...she just has a quality that makes her easy to direct. It's a better situation for both parties than constant battles for control, at least. Each gets to satisfy a desire.

This situation is totally going to get a 'power of friendship' ending.

And the most interesting thing is that all realities can face the world of Constant. There'll be a mix of worlds. But this will not happen, although the idea is not bad.

Imagine the reaction of Pugna on the King of Pigs) And Gnaw will be hanging somewhere in the desert and to ask for food...The world will be patrolled by the troops of Pugna and so on.

They were extinguished all the time, unless somebody came close enough.

Also I think that Charlie didn't release Maxwell, because she hated him after what happened back in San Francisco and didn't bother to help him. Wilson, on the other hand, didn't give Her any reason to stay there.

Also, remember that The throne makes The King/Queen completely invulnerable to anything, including Charlie. Charlie was summoned near The throne because There was nobody near aside from Wilson.

Also she has double personality. Her Good side is kind, and quite friendly. Her evil self is vicious, sadistic and bloodthirsty.

When Her Good side released Wilson from The throne, he instantly became vulnerable, and that triggered Her evil side. That happens whenever Someone is nearby.

Her evil self, which was presumably created when she entered The constant, attacked Wilson. But we can see Charlie turning Back to Her normal self, because she is trying to fight her evil self because she doesn't want to actually hurt Wilson, but she fails. After Wilson disappears, we can see Charlie looking around to see if Wilson survived (she doesn't know what is happening when Her evil side takes control), but then she realised what happened and felt guilty.

This also symbolizes why we don't die from Charlie's attacks at once: she is fighting herself to give us some more time to get to some light source.

Kind of this again.

Hence why Winona gets more time. I bet she can’t actually dodge anything.

Probably because Charlie still loves her sister the most and she has a little more control, so she can make her "evil self" miss her first hit.

The Screecher happens during 1986 (Don't Starve in 1919) in the Earth, not the Constant.

Yet, I would like see a "Screecher 2" (and Bill William Moran having another dark adventure).
