I don't mind buying the skins I want but I would rather buy them directly from Klei rather than the Steam community market as 100% of the funds (bar taxes) go directly to Klei or Steam functionality (Which Klei/DST uses.) Even better the money goes directly into improving the game and not going completely into shareholders pockets. (Its sad to see what Bethesda has done to Fallout 4 these past few months........) Its also nice that the prices are consistent as.........many of the skins prices have risen on the market. (GOH Wendy used to be $5.00!) Thanks for keeping skins behind the store. I like collecting the skins and I personally feel this new method of obtaining skins will be beneficial for all parties involved. (Except the skin idlers.) This will be amazing for console/tencent players as they don't have any method of trading skins. (That I am aware of.) Edit: It looks like we also got the Rose collection as well. That is quite a suprise. Edit2: It looks like only the Winter Elegants/character items are on the store. The rose collection and other new items are not. Sure we can complain about the cost relative to the Forge bundle but.....the revenue actually goes into improving the game. Out of other ways to spend money for cosmetics (Loot boxes, although this is more gambling than purchasing) or new content (Bethesda's Creation Club) a $9.99 bundle is hardly something to complain about compared to those, especially when it goes into improving the game and not shareholders pockets. (Bethesda has no problems releasing buggy, broken content and charging $7.99 for additional buggy, broken content while choosing to not improve either and leaving both in a broken state.....and suggesting modders to tweak the content if they don't like it.) Sure the cost of the bundle is a little more expensive than the previous one but it goes to supporting Klei; developers who actually care about their games. We got memory optimizations and more performance improvements with Winter's feast. If this revenue system continues to be successful we will likely be getting even more improvements. I personally think the price is a little high compared to the previous bundle but ongoing support is worth far more to me than $9.99. That said Klei does read the forums so if you have a problem with it let them know. Maybe the bundle is too highly priced, maybe it is fine. If you have suggestions for improving the game let them know. Something worth noting; $9.99 (USD at least) makes a lot more sense than something odd like $7.99 as $10 USD is easier to add to the Steam Wallet. In some countries adding funds to a virtual wallet and then using them to purchase digital content is not taxed (as Steam wallet funds have "no real world value"). If a player matches the funds at checkout with a credit card/paypal (which doesn't add it to the digital wallet first) this may be subject to taxes and cost the player more. The $12.99 bundle was not very good as players had to choose between adding $15 USD to their Steam wallet (leaving $2.01 unspent) or matching the $12.99 and paying additional taxes on top of that. Having an amount easily divisible allows players to not pay taxes on purchases depending on where they live. (As some regions may be subject to taxes regardless of the method of purchase. I only pay taxes if I match the funds and pay none if I add them to the Steam wallet first.) This is all subject to players regions and I am only using myself as an example. This is speculation on my part but I think Klei is considering adding cross platform play to the game. Tencent's Wegame platform will be coming to non-Chinese audiences which potentially makes Don't Starve Together accessible, and the Rose collection skins to Western audiences. China is a huge market (they skyrocketed Windows 7 to 70% market share on Steam as Windows 10 is banned.) Some of the optimizations (the new file systemchanges) is frequently done to games using virtual cosmetics as a source of revenue (To save storage and make downloads less of a burden.) or going free to play (downloads are an obstacle to playing a game, lowering the cost to playing the game means more potential players, and more revenue for the developers.)The biggest barrier between cross platform play is the Rose/Formal collection being exclusive to certain platforms; which no longer exists as it is no longer exclusive to a certain platform. Combined with the cost of the bundle being better divisible by 5 and 10 (common amounts that are easily added to a virtual wallet) and events being limited to Klei servers (no server mods eliminates the need for the Steam Workshop on other platforms) I think cross play for the events is incredibly likely. I don't think we will see it for the main game however. The last bit is just speculation on my part so don't take it as fact. I just find the recent changes interesting as I am studying game design and think something interesting/important will happen to the game in the future. Rellimarual Posted December 19, 2017 Share Posted December 19, 2017 I bought the forge set, even though the only head I liked was Wicker (She has the best head skins) and almost all the outfits were not to my taste. I figured I could unspool them for item skins, but it was mostly just to support Klei, especially after all the free stuff they gave use last year. Bu the Snowfallen skins are so beautiful, I’d happily pay for them even if it weren’t for that other consideration, and even though there isn’t one for my main (though Wig does look like the Swiss Miss in Wendy’s Snowchild outfit). The designers really outdid themselves with this set. Please, whoever from Klei reads this forum, pass on our applause for these beautiful skins!
