What do YOU hate about Don't Starve?

Recommended Posts

I dislike how some of the bosses are meant for 4 player parties only.

I only have one other person to play with, and we have a REALLY hard time killing stuff like the bee queen (don't even mention klaus).

Boss health scaling would've been nice. It's not a big issue, because there are mods for it, I just would like a refined form of that in the game.

Klaus is a VERY soloable boss.

Bee queen for a solo you need some sort of a setup(rabbits/tentacles/beefalos), admittedly as a four man you can just hold f and kill her though that makes her painfully easy.(so it really depends on how hard do you think she should be to begin with)

I don't want to start an argument over this, especially since with some bosses(*cough* misery toadstool *cough*) that's definitely something that could make an improvement, just klaus is a very bad example of a boss you need more people to deal with(you really don't).

Please tell me, every time we try, we get out butts kicked.

Toadstool, I haven't even tried, there's no point of ever trying to 2-man it.

Klaus fight starts at about 18 minutes in, he's quite a bit over prepared but he doesn't use most of his resources, also he's maxwell.

(It's not perfect but it's good enough)

I’m terrible at switching equipped items, but I soloed Klaus using a marble suit during the final phase and a thulecite club, which gives a speed boost. Run away a bit when he lifts his arm to cast a spell, bring two log suits, two helms, a few pirogis to eat when your health gets low, and above all, don’t kill the deer. A dark sword for the first part of the fight is good, too. If I can do this, anyone can!

What i personally don't like is the fact that until Hamlet dlc and shipwrecked beta were announced DS was left untouched for more then 2 years. It's PERFECLY UNDERSTANDABLE because Klei was working on DST and ONI but still, DST even if not that good as multiplayer has some interesting mechanics that could be useful in singleplayer such as ruins regeneration, regrowth. There are also a lot of new chreatures and bosses. Unfortunately these are only meant for DST which makes (at least me) quite...sad...? I'd like to be able to fight Bee Queen, regen my ruins and not have to worry about that one green mushroom that I accidently dug up.

The game (just like someone said earlier) went from ,,try to survive" to ,,create huge base or whatever". Fighting mechanics are incredibly boring. Even with the new dlcs: at first I died after Sealnado AoE attack, but after ONE practise fight I was able to deal with it holding only a spear. The only time a fight really clenched my butt was when I had to fight with Tiger-shark durring night while starving and also having 0 sanity. All i was equipped was some basic log-armor a spear and a torch.

The only difficulty that grows overtime are hounds attacks, which are still easy to deal with . It's easy to survive all 4 seasons. Starving is not a problem like... always. If you're the type of person who is not that creative and you don't want to build "EPIC BEAUTIFUL MEGABASE! THANKS FOR 1000 SUBS!!' then you just... quit.

You just dissed Sealnado, I thought that was the one of the coolest fights. I know some people like you are able to destroy bosses with their bare hands and complain about a lack of challenge, but that doesn't mean that the boss wasn't challenging. Not very many players are going to enjoy a boss difficulty that is as difficult as fighting a giant at night while starving and insane.

I hate disease and usually turn that off, but I’ve beenplaying this game for about four or five years, and I don’t really get that tired of it. Sure, sometimes when it feels like I’ve done everything too many times, I might take a break or often enough play another version of the game. But I always come back because I miss the basics and I  don’t really care that there isn’t a huge challenge late in the game

I hate how I have to disconnect to pause a local game that I'm playing alone in (without mods).

I hate the lack of endgame.

I hate trying to drag 1 or 2 friends in with conflicting schedules to fight a raidboss we never fought before.

I hate when friends bring THAT friend that does nothing but sit in base all day.

I hate getting 200 pairs of common shirts and nothing else.

I hate how boats in SW toggle your godmode  off (and sometimes your godmode turns off randomly in SW?) when doing stuff.

I hate hows there still no rose skins.

I hate pengulls.

I hate bunnymen.

I hate monkeys.

I hate randoms.

I hate you.

I hate myself.

I hate this thread.

I hate everything.

Why would you need either of these in singleplayer if you can just world hop?

I hate how bad Maxwell's shadow duelists are at doing their intended job.

I'm trying to like this more times, and can't. and I hate that

Anyway, I dislike the rubberbanding effect, and moving in or out of caves disconnections.

DS? Why is this in a DST forum when we have DS forums?! :?

I specifically noted that this topic is in regards to BOTH DS and DST. Read more than just the title, perhaps? Don't Starve section doesn't get that much attention though. Wish it did, but that is entirely dependent on everyone here.

Oh, I also hate deerclop's moans. They are creepy and should belong to a horror game.

Don't Starve was initially meant to be a survival game with a horror theme, so there. Deerclops was added in ages ago, so that's why he's like that. I'm surprised you never realised that. If you check out the older trailers up until the RoG launch trailer, you can clearly see the different style and theme that the game was going for than it does now. It shifted, and I specified that at the beginning of the thread, actually.

I hate the little lag of the game in multiplayer no matter how good your pc/internet is and you have set up a dedicated server. if you reach a certain amount of players you cant fight bosses because of the terrible lag.

i hate the same strategic way you have to deal with bosses. 2-4 hits and run, repeat.

i hate that certain items mechanics are not in the standalone game. like fences or bosses.

i hate the way of obtaining pets in dst. they should make it different. like you have to steal it from the bosses or hatch them.

i also hate that you get zero rewards for hatching a smallbird and taking care of them. they should at least build a nest if they are fully grown.

^Totally agree smallbirds generating more nests would be awesome. It's not like it would break the game or anything, getting meat from bunnymen is way more broken, and they're hostile to the player so they're not a better security form either.

I just want to back up Rellimarual on the combat thing - I'm far more interested in the crafting/farming aspects of the game - the combat and survival just give me a use for all the stuff I'm farming & crafting, which is nice. Lord knows in Harvest Moon the only thing your crops really get you is a giant stack of cash that you can't ever spend all of.

I mean, I understand that people who kind of like the crafting&farming but who really like combat heavy games would want to tweak this one. But there are certainly people who like it the way it is as well.

Um... I feel like the only thing I hate is not being able to plant flowers closer together. As far as I know the only way to do it is by being Wendy, crafting a bunch of Abigail flowers, setting them on the floor and leaving for several days. And not having more uses for farmed vegetables. Oh wait, worst of all - I want a way to regenerate fireflies in DST. They're not that great of a light source any ways! They're just pretty and I can make glorious jack-o-lanterns out of them. :<

I hate how unbalanced the characters can be, i get Wes being underpowered but not Woodie, Willow or Winona (not saying people shouldn't use them but just saying they just need something to make them more useful for the team)

I hate how rare flint can be in public worlds

I hate how expensive skins can be *coughwendyformalskincough*

I hate how i can't really change character socks like change wendy's pink striped socks to fit my outfit (i know this is a weird one lol)

I hate how Halloween Skins and Rose Skins are only event skins and not just regular skins available all year long like the others and also aren't available for everyone (for rose skins' case)
