I would guess it would be Wes, when I join a random game, I see Wilson, there's gotta be a Wilson, and a bunch that anyone can guess, but usually not Wickerbottom. So I'm just curious, who do you guys see on your servers? (I'm sorry if this has been asked, but I was bored so i started this.) I also don't see Wickerbottoms very often, I wish more people would play as her, I've never had the opportunity to overcharge with an End is Nigh book. Willow: A bit more rare, usually picked by people who are new and don't know she's nerfed to hell. Wolfgang: Only on pvp servers. Or griefers. Wendy: She's more rare for me lately. WX-78: They aren't that uncommon. If there's more than 4 people on a server, usually one of them will be WX. Wickerbottom: Actually, I see her almost as much as Wigfrid. Woodie: He's rare. When he's picked, it's probably some new guy that's going to die to Shadow Creatures before day ends. Wes: Less rare than Woodie. Usually picked by moderate-advanced players, so he serves his purpose, I guess. Wigfrid: As common as Wilson. Webber: For me, he's as common as Wigfrid/Wilson. Almost nobody uses his "can befriend spiders" perk though. Probably picked by some kids who just think he looks cool, so hey, why not pick him? For me, I use any character, except Willow. Willow has no role to fulfill. Wilson? Beard. Wolfgang? Fighter. Wendy? Spider farmer. WX? Tank/Fighter/Scout. Wickerbottom? Early game help, great farmer. Woodie? Wood. Wes? Decoration. Wigfrid? Armoury/Tank/Fighter. Webber? Spider farmer. Willow? Her Lighter is replaced by Lantern because of its range. Her bear is useless if you can kite. She can survive with no clothes for longer time in summer and can cook items on the go. So, she has ability that can be replaced by a campfire, woo! I go Woodie all the time. In my opinion the only real downside is overheating. I haven't seen a wolfgang in 3 months, geez. He's awesome if you wanna hop on a public server and get some playtime for like an hour or so. For one, since there's almost never any flint near spawns on public servers, his axe is a goddess. That alone is enough, but he ALSO keeps followers for an extra day and has extra insulation from his beard! Wicker's unlocked crafting recipes give a great start and Maxwell... Well... I like to set up my camp right next to a Maxwell statue just for lols. VexTheHex Posted March 4, 2016 Share Posted March 4, 2016 I was actually tallying how much of each character I saw, but I stopped after a week or two. Infestation- 1. Wigfrid - I may actually see her more than Wilson. And that's saying something! She is pretty much the easiest survivor once you know the basics of the game. As Wilson or Willow have to find ways to fight. I have seen 3-4 Wigfrids at a time in servers allowing 8 players. 2. Wilson - He is the face of the game. That alone will get him tons of playtime paired with him being rather simple in terms of pros and cons. He will be most people's 1st pick. More experienced players are less likely to play him as Meat Effigys are out shined by Life Amulets or the easy factor of Hearts. I'm glad cosmetics became a thing, as I enjoy playing him for his looks and personality. Common- 3. Wendy - She has the cute factor going for her pretty well paired with a pet/minion. Anyone who is scared of battling will likely go Wendy as well. 4. Webber - He stands out from the cast quite a bit, and that helps him pick up players. I always feel bad when bases ends up near pigs and a Webber joins us. To see a pig rush over and punch in the face at dawn, it's heartbreaking. 5. Willow - Anti-darkness attracts new players. Also a troll favorite since they can search for bases uninterrupted, have a fire starting item, and they can claim they needed sanity. I never trust Willows. I'd rather have a Wes. Average- 6. Woodie - Unlimited axe draws in most of his players, though most will not be able to handle the Beaver form well and will plant trees in horrible spots. He is one of the more difficult choices, but Lucy allures people. 7. WX - I rarely see them do too much or do well, but I see WX enough to know he exists. I think most players avoid him to not consume precious gears. It's hard enough to get people to search for gears in tumbleweeds when resources are low for Flings. Uncommon- 8. Wickerbottom - Some of the coolest perks. She is a goddess that can supply tons of crops and supplies, has a renewable pan flute, can overcharge WX on command, and can make tentacle spike farms. But, she is held up by difficulty and... sadly being the old lady. I think her being the least appealing visually to the average gamer hurts her popularity. It's too bad to, she is awesome. Rare- 9. Wolfgang - He is arguably the hardest character to play, and I even saw more Wes than Wolfgang for quite some time. Early game can be killer to him if food is low. And low food makes it harder for him to perform enough to turn things around. The transformations can also get you killed as it can allow mobs to catch up to you and swarm you. I started playing him now that I can dress him up in more appealing clothes, and I'm loving him. He is a beast. 10. Wes - He was actually beating Wolfgang in my tallies, but since I stopped I have seen multiple Wolfgangs (not including myself) and only 1-3 Wes. He has no perks, he has no witty lines, and he can be more of a burden to the team than help. Wes is doomed for last place. Only Walani could remove him from his throne if she is added into DST without Shipwrecked itself. But even she may outshine him simply for being a pretty female. These are of course my observations of my fellow survivors.
