Maxwell is already pretty balance, I think, but I was thinking about giving the merms an affinity for him. So like, if find a merm village, you get some free (or cheap?) followers. In the lore, the merms are a failed creation by Maxwell. So I could imagine them looking up to him as a father figure, and him being kinda embarrassed and grossed out by them. Gotta think about that one a little more though.

Maybe that would be more of Waverly the witch's forte? If you ever decide to add her that is.

Abigail is going to be summonable. I'm still working out the details, but I think it will be tied to an item. I think that you'll have her flower hairpiece as an inventory item. You can put it on the ground and then kill something near it to spawn Abigail when you want to. When she is destroyed, she'll drop the hairpiece again. Then you'll have to wait for a cooldown period to expire before you can summon her again. This, combined with some abigail behaviour tweaks, will make Wendy pretty unique, I think.Mostly, I just looking forward to having an "Haunted hairpiece" as an item in the game. Spooooooky!

One concern I have is what if you got swarmed or overpowered and can't get back to the hairpiece? Does it comes back to me after a certain time? Or do I have to assemble an even more powerful force to get that hairpiece back?

Hmmm. Tallbirds are already friendable. Maybe I'll just make the merms like him because he was the first person that they saw. Meh. It'll be a couple of days until I get there and have to make those decisions.

how about those ungrateful bastards don't try to kill us when we raise them to maturity

It's a metaphor for parenthood. You sacrifice so much for them, and then they abandon you and leave you in a nursing home. Or in my case, a zoo.

This is something I've always wanted. I wanna play as an evil witch that lives in the swamp! Join me, Merms! Together we shall storm the forests and rain terror down upon the pigs!

Le gasp.

Oh i will do so many human sacrifices for Abigail!

I will play Wendy just for that purpose.

So carry a rabbit on your inventory on all times then?

What about taming hounds?? Although making so your raised Tallbird doesn't attack you as Maxwell when it becomes an adult will make everyone love you forever.

Or butterflies. It'd be great to get Abigail and butter at the same time...

Wendy: So no sanity increase? I think she deserves it. Also, would Abigail be buffed at all? What if her stats depended on what was killed to summon her? Not a 1-to-1 thing of course, that would be ridiculous. Maybe there would be "tiers" of Abigail that certain creatures fall into? Innocent little animals could be T1, spiders, bats, hounds, and frogs may be T2, the majority of enemies would be T3, and bosses would be T4?Wickerbottom: Would those books be like random-spell, single use items? Also, what did you think of my idea of her shushing enemies?Maxwell: The Merms thing could be interesting, but I did imagine Waverly as the one with swamp affinity, which I guess Wickerbottom's magic thing also crosses into her territory.

best..update..ever? Wickerbottom should be able to craft a magic book or something. I think it has to do with his hometown/village. Looking forward to the update, Kevin! Keep up the good work :DREBALANCE ALL THE CHARACTERS!!!

Wickerbottom is a girl!!!

Odd question, but for inventory space saving, can we wear the hairpiece?

I'm thinking the wickerbottom might gain a unique crafting tab, where she can bind books out of papyrus. These books will act kind of like consumable magic spells. Still thinking about that one, though.

Spellbooks? I so called it!

Hey Wendy players...

Tell me about all of the things that annoy you about Abigail!

Not an annoyance but I've mentioned enough times and I'm not too shameless to mention it again; I think Abigail should be able to see and target Wendy's hallucinations as her twin seeing as twins are often said to have that sort of empathic link. That ability in itself could greatly alter how the game is played, even when only the one mob other than you can aid you in destroying these things.

Someone else suggested making it easier to get Abigail when low on sanity which seems fitting to me and could go well with this ability, although it DOES occur to me that the way hallucinations react to being hit might make it too easy to escape. Then again, would it be difficult to program her so that she keeps going after the same one so that you don't plow through them like nothing?

Ok I made an account just to answer this. Wendy seems to be my char, I can only live long enough with her idk why, but sometimes Abi gets on my nerves. For example, the inability to keep pets :< More then once she killed my baby tall birds ;_; i can never get pets...I also dislike that without even touching them, she seems to attract my pigs to attack her and either kill them or kill herself... Also when i ask her to attack something she sometimes seems to think the best possible path is through me '-_-I've noticed that she doesn't attack other ghosts as well and maybe she should?if I remember anything else i'll say it but my biggest regret with Abi is her killing my babies....

What about Maxxy being able to straight up take control over a creature (obviously nothing too OP like the Deerclops)? He could take control of say a hound or a Beefalo to do his bidding for a bit. I kinda like the idea of Maxxy still having some sort of power over the world.

About Maxwell, the merm houses could be friended via giving one pig skin to make some friend merms (2/3) going out saying something related to the pig sacrifice (ancient pact whatever), fear or magic he represent to them. Also I love the nickname of the Puppet Master and for sake of him controlling the strings he should be able to craft some magic item at the begining that allows him to control some lesser beings, like a purple wand or "control gem" that consumes insane sanity to befriend a normally hostile creature (spider warriors, knights, normal hounds, bunny/pigmen, tallbird), one at a time. Maybe adding some sanity reduction (-5/min) would make it less desirable for the others and more for Max

and more odd question: if wearable, how about add an effect like sanity gain?

Yeah the garland gives sanity and so do items considered dapper or civilized and the flower hairpiece looks a lot more fashionable than the garland to most; it'd be an interesting combination of things:Abigail Hairpiece-Possesion, whether in inventory or worn, allows a sacrifice to quickspawn ABigail>If worn, +5 san/minI like the idea of an item that doesn't need to be worn but can be for an added effectPlus the Amulet sets a precedent for "awesome effect plus sanity gain"

why would I eat non-renewable resources?

Simple; the specific non-renewable resource in context is gears, only useful for making Ice Boxes, which slow down the spoilage of food. However, the only character who CAN eat these non-renewable resources can eat stale or spoiled without any penalty, so an Ice Box is virtually useless, so it is only logical that each gear is used for eating to increase your max stats instead of something that is virtually useless.
