Opinions on Characters Outside of Gameplay

Recommended Posts

I would like to hear some opinions/thoughts on characters that don't really have anything to do with their gameplay. You can include that too of course, if you really like a character because of their playstyle, but I was thinking more of stuff like their lore or personality, or even just like their character design.

Personally, I really like Wes because of the design, Wortox because of his personality and lore, and WX because of his personality. I think Wes is just a really funny character, I play as him by myself just to be wes, funny mime man. Wortox is funny in all his stupid riddles and I just think he has neat lore. WX is self explanatory, destroy all humans :wilson_flower:

I like Winona, she feels more compelling than Maxwell or Wilson and should be more than a "background character", Klei should make her do some important stuff so that people would treat her like an actual protagonist than just a "forgettable side character", she is the real protagonist here but no seems to accept that.

I really like Wilson. I already talked about why in another thread some time ago so I'll just say this: there's a reason he's the main face of Don't Starve and there's a reason why only he could complete adventure mode and free Maxwell. :wilson_bearded:

I love Wickerbottom’s design and personality. A wise old lady librarian who’s also sort of a witch is a trope thats like tailor-made for me to enjoy

i also appreciate how level-headed she approaches everything in the constant. I love how her quotes give insight into stuff in a serious and smart way without being jokey/punny about it or too gimmicky like wagstaff.

Even when examing horrifying creatures and scary stuff shes never seen before she very rarely if ever freaks out or gets scared like the other survivors.

From the moment i got into DS/T up until Wormwood release i pretty much played Wickerbottom 95% of the time so i learned the game through her quotes. I think her calm and smart personality gave me confidence when i was still clueless about the game . Shes still my favorite survivor for that reason .

Im suuuuper curious to see what her cinematic will be about.

I don't like Wanda's attitude.

Well maybe she doesn't have the "time" to listen to you.

JK, but that's really one thing I dislike about the character. With so many interesting entities within this messed up nightmare world, 95% of Wanda's quotes are like: "Wow, that's interesting, but I sure don't care!"

Every good team needs one person like this.

Maxwell and Wendy. Love this suicidal goth family, they're both really funny in a dark way. And I guess it just hits hard when the token "evil" teammate feels horrible about failing Pearl* or when the girl who talks flippantly about death be actually scared. Maxwell's whole backstory/end of Adventure Mode is fantastic of course. And I just love Wendy's character design, I loved her sooooooooooo much when the game came out cause she was such a vibe.

Wigfrid and Wilson are runners up cause fun dialogue.

*made sadder by the story symmetry of Charlie/Maxwell, Pearl/Crab King, and Ancient Queen/Ancient King

i like how wanda has experienced maaany events maaany times in addition with her "not time to this bull****" personality which fits her being so wise and powerful but being just focused on her stuff. Which also means that she would be the best card to go out of the Constant for the survivors but she doesnt give a **** and is tired of the same things happening all the time which solves the "problem" of klei not wanting to release heavy linked to the lore dlc character, very elegant way and funny way of solving that.

Being impatience and time related like the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland is something i love. Her quote while waiting deerclops to spawn or the quotes for CC champion summarizes what i try to say very well. Is so badass to have a character that instead of fearing certain bosses acts in a bored way like "okey, i guess is time to kick this ass quick so i can keep doing my things"

I don't blame her, now that I'm close to graduating from college, my attitude during class is similar to hers

Coincidentally, I'm a freshman in college and despite this stuff being crucial to my career, sometimes I see the world in the lenses of her.

I like Wortox for his mischievous personality! His quotes give me so much fun during game play. I also like Woodie for, uh, no reason. Idk but there is somehow a positive air around him. I just don't have clue how I can describe the reason well lol.

I like to play Wanda for her character design. She could lose that 140 damage and I would still play her. I mean I would be in tears but still. I just love the idea of a pro time traveller with extensive shadow magic. Plus she has the best default character skin. Fight me

I really enjoy Wigfrid. She's just so dramatic and theatrical. When she goes into the darkness she says, "and the curtain falls", and then she comes back into light and says, "I step into the light". Overall she just really has a very straightforward way to express herself. She plays her 'role' well, but I think i really connect well to her straightforwardness. I also enjoy how she treats everything as a worthy foe, fit for a glorious battle.

It's a shame that the glimpse we got of her outside the constant was her on a decline.. but she's big time thriving in the constant for what it's worth. I'll take a Wigfrid song over a Walter story any day.

I love the current Maxwell’s anti hero vibe.
He is also disgusted by the other survivors, the wildlife, and mostly everything that is not connected to dark magic and otherworldly knowledge. He must be a very cranky dude to spend eternity with.

I also love the insight he gives, since he was once the ruler of the world who created much of what we see.

+ 1 Wigfrid fan here. I like her quote when examining carrat “Vegetables are nöt to be trusted” “ I have you now, wicked vegetable” and pumpkin lantern “ Dö yöu wish tö fight, vegetable?” It’s just hilarious because she has this serious hostility towards these plants. Besides, I always tend to think she has freckle because she doesn’t eat her veggie, and she probably also has bad breath because of that

Although he is not a character in Don't starve together, I really like the personality of Woodlegs, he reminds me of my grandfather, but without vulgar language.

Also I sometimes feel the personality of the characters are slightly different between the English version and in the Spanish version, but that could just be me.
