[Spaced Out! Update] - 461546

Hi everyone! We're made lots of fixes to worldgen to further prevent temperature leakage between biomes, as well as some POI fixes. Thanks for all your feedback and examples!

Worldgen

  • Marshy Asteroid now always has at least some Jungle.
  • Improved preventing POIs breaking high temperature borders.
  • Fixed an issue where the starting asteroid in Classic Style Terra Cluster generated few or no Oil Reservoirs.
  • Improved Abyssalite border drawing to prevent small amounts of magma appearing on the wrong side of the border.
  • Prevent terrain "features" from drawing over adjacent biomes of a different type.
  • Improved border temperature gradient in extreme temperature cases. It's not perfect yet.
  • Slight improvement to spawning POIs in the magma core of the Marshy Asteroid.
  • Increased water mass on Water Asteroid to prevent significant water receding due to liquid compression.

Fixes

  • Fixed issue that could occur when revealing asteroids with liquid surfaces
  • Rockets are once again able to fly through Rocket Platforms and other rockets - though they cannot idle overlapping with them.

Other

  • Updated Russian translations

I only checked one map, but it looks pretty great :) Should prevent most of the cooking of water and oil sitting at the bottom of the map

Can you please fix the issue that disallows to deconstruct POI items?

Please...

I was going to say the same. Light fixtures are especially annoying...

Good update so far, though! Heat leaks are a real bummer sometimes, especially now that you might not discover certain planets until after a couple hundred cycles.

Heat leaks and POI intrusions are pretty frustrating, so thanks for this polish.

They are. They cause a massive variation in difficulty, often from a very small cause. And, quite frankly, they are on element that does not add to the enjoyment of the game for me. One exception: Planned heat leaks (like the one below the base in Vulcanea) are a gameplay element and can be beneficial to the experience. It is just the random ones that get on my nerves.

Or at least make it practicable to melt them all. I just had to do some larger routing around a clock and a storage locker that I cannot get rid of. The office tables are also a pain. I can at least melt glass windows and plastic ladders that cannot be deconstructed.

A lot of requests for  Deconstruction of POI.

How about a feature/mechanic  where you have a Build Menu "Inventory" (POI) Category.     Along the bottom left corner we have these category icons menu for building stuff we've researched.     I suggest a new Slot that is for "Point of Interests".   So that whenever you deconstruct a POI  you get it back as an item in the POI menu slot, allowing you to rebuild it a different location.  (or not build them at all)

This will allow you to get the POI back  in case you need it again, preventing the issues related to  "I wish I hadn't deconstructed" feeling later.

This will allow us to relocate those hanging fixtures, brain chairs, or security doors that just won't go away, and other stuff.

NOW this feature leads to some other cool functions.   If the developers  decide to make some end game mechanic that requires you to collect  X POI artifacts  scattered throughout the universe, they (dupes)  can reassemble them back on the home world. Maybe something that operates the Temporal Rift (opening it).   And its a structure that can be found in pieces to put back together.  This makes exploring more interesting.

ALSO- those who want to reconstruct the  Teleporter can now relocate it to a different planet of their choosing.

Deconstruction of  POI could be a researched on the technology tree.  So its  not something you can do immediately.    Or deconstruction could be an early tech.  But reconstruction can be a later tech.

So much potential with this mechanic that can make this game more fun.

Did you by chance read a post I discarded?

IIRC somebody wanted everything, even in the 'fog of war', to be simulated when there should be no need to if the worldgen hadn't two major bugs.

POI and features breaking through biomes.

And

Critters being some times doomed to die out despite the taming mechanic making wild ones reproduce once before dying naturally. Sadly I am lacking concrete examples there and can not play for long now hence why I also discarded that post. What was my mistake, what might have been already fixed, I do not know anymore.

Why do I always stop playing games just before their release? Well, in case of ONI, I did not want to waste 30-60c a day to keep my broken PC running since once it cooled down, it literally freezes after start-up if not before, requiring several restarts... it also had the habit of overheating so it has been 15 months now since I last started it.

.

The first world gen fixes were exactly what I meant to mention (but was ofc mentioned several times over already), I'm glad you came around to polish this since this was a major cause of distress. Mind you, I did forget about magma boiling some oil so you likely did not read my discarded post. Anyway, I'm very glad to have that out of the way, now if there was just a possibility about it coming to Switch... (yeah, main problem is the processing power required) I'll get a new desktop one day and then I will be able to rediscover everything, and discover a lot more~

Also there's no frozen water/polluted water anymore.

You mean in the space biome, right? I think that is a Terra start feature, not present on Swamp or Forest start.

Yeah... the top-bottom biome generation seems a bit wonky but every seed is a bit different  and has different challenges (maybe..?)

Spoiler

Several starting maps of Terra start after the main update 461084

*I started playing the first one that seems like space and barren biomes wanted to reach the printing pod so.. I generated several more to see if it sticks

Well.. it's interesting :D

Other that the "wonky", I found forest start to be getting a bit of a hiccup trying to generate a map... No crashes though (Yay!)

Ok I thought earlier versions of the swamp had the water but maybe I'm mis-remembering. When early access started, I made a swamp start and did everything I could on that and haven't done one since so it's been awhile. Then when terra was added I did a playthrough of that until I ran out of things to do. Guess the weird generation on the lower crust and magma was just odd luck. I thought I would try a new swamp start to test a run without the teleporters to prep for when its added but also to see if it is viable enough.

Im at 76 dupes now ( 8 toilets.), my colony consumes so much power that I have additional 16000 watts sometimes running with hampsterz wheelz on backup! I need reactorz! Hopefully I can build my first one ever in the next 1000 cycles, I have 47 tons uranium, 280 tons lead, 5kg metal ore left and lots of levitating snack machines and tables. Will it be enough

So much FUN ! In 2000 cycles I will perhaps have launched my first colony rocket...It shall be the TITAN, as first launch !!! Then 20 rocketz super stacking! I consumed 200 tons plastic for little dupe habitats and ladders, it's wonderful.

There is other asteroids and a teleporter in the game :confused::confused:

Its amazing how much power is used when 50 dupes jumps in to the dupe transit system in the same moment and do that every minute...The journey is the goal!

100k,200k and 500k power cables would be welcome...with material requirements from other asteroids :eagerness:
