Just sent you a PM with the instructions and links to the tools you need!

And here have some temp intro images, they were from alpha I think? I wasn't around for it so I don't know for sure lol

And some things that appear to be unused, labelled "sal_finale":

Looks like she ran off to a Spree camp of some kind; I wonder why...

Not really datamining. When I was debugging for mods, I saw something quite interesting.

In convo options, normally you can only do a negotiation once. For example, you can only provoke once against a person, and if you fail, too bad! The memory of the negotiation is stored as a memory token in localized text.

image.thumb.png.9c18c9f453fb8dcaab5c3b5f239a2cba.png

But wait, does that mean if you pick another language, you can do the negotiation again?

It does!

(Oh yeah french has different nouns depending on the gender. and it's broken right now)

Here's all the infinity stone.

Okay I've been a bit busy so I don't have much to show; I'll post some more card icons but I wanted to point out this one in particular first

I only just noticed recently that Rook has a beard. It doesn't look right kasjdakjsd and also the flavor text for the card is "Itchy..." so it must be very itchy for him lol.

And now here's more Smith:

Oops!

That predates our localization pass, I think. I'll update it to use the LOC keys, rather than the localized text.

Isn't this how dupes eat pickled meal

Anyhow I got some new stuff to talk about but uh, mega spoiler alert because these weren't officially announced yet:

That Rise Turncoat guy Buleet has a currently dev-only experiment where you can fight him (shoutout and thanks to @SpicyNiceCream for discovering it and showing me how to activate it):

Spoiler

601840_20200805101221_1.thumb.png.c45fe0193eba0a67ac588022d12eb9dd.png601840_20200805101319_1.thumb.png.257694bff1536ce80510598bf04b7e82.png

really digging his design and the fact that he uses cobblebot heads to fight is really METAL

*crawls into a hole*

And Smith has another new sidejob! I've seen this one in the files before but it was unfinished. Looks like it was finished and enabled in last night's update, meaning it should show up in his preview, but I haven't played it yet to check. Anyhow, it does a little bit of worldbuilding:

Spoiler

Apparently one of the top sports around here is snail-racing! Moreef's made a huge bet on one of the snails, but he heard the competition has a big chance of beating it out. Moreef's bet too much money to lose, so Smith has to make sure the oshnu wins.

So when Smith arrives he meets a chemist that he apparently knew sometime in his life (player is Smith, agent is the chemist):

                    * Your one-time business partner is happy to see you again.
                    agent:
                        !surprised
                        {player}?!
                        !angry
You have a lot of nerve showing your face around here again.
                    player:
                        !happy
Glad to see you too, old friend!
                    agent:
It cost me a small fortune in bribes to clean my reputation after your last scheme.
Why should I even listen to you?

Smith can ask about oshnu physiology, to get an idea of what to do:

                player:
I have an important question for you.
                agent:
I'm not going to tell you anything! We are not friends.
                player:
It's about, er... biology and stuff.
                agent:
                    !sigh
I'm not making more drugs for you, {player}.
                player:
No, no! Not for me! For an Oshnu!
                agent:
                    !thought
Oshnua? Oshnu don't- well, they're complicated. They have a lot really unique organs that interplay in strange ways.
Not may people even know that much.
                player:
So if someone wanted adjust the speed of an Oshnu, they'd have to do something really clever, right?
                agent:
Beyond clever! If you were just clever you'd end up poisoning the dumb snail, or giving it a taste for your flesh.
You'd have to be a Hesh-drowned genius to pull that off.
                player:
Know anyone like that I could talk to?
                agent:
                    Stop. Just Stop.
If you want my help, you're going to have to pay for it. And it's not going to be cheap.
                    You know my usual terms.

So Smith can then either choose to make a potion to make the snail Moreef bets on faster, or the opposing snail slower. The chemist goes into a bunch of biology stuff I won't bore you with (play Smith's preview if you wanna see it I guess lol) as they go over the options.

Alternatively Smith could just bypass all of it and convince the rider of the opposing snail to throw the race (Or he could kill him lmao)

I'm not gonna post all the dialogue but I do wanna point this particular bit out, if Smith chooses to make the opposing snail slower, it refuses to drink the potion at first, and Smith has to either force it or convince it. If he chooses to force it this happens (agent is the oshnu):

                * You take a deep breath, and then reach for the Oshnu's head.
                * After several painful bites, you manage to get most of the potion down the Oshnu's throat.
                agent:
                    !right
                player:
                    !left
                    !injured
                    You big dumb snail!
                * The Oshnu huffs a 'right back at you', and retracts into its shell.
                agent:
                    !exit
                * You decide to leave before anyone comes to investigate the commotion.

Smith actually gets hurt for doing this lol, it gets him for 15 health, by the looks of it. The oshnu is definitely not happy about it either XD

There was a mission in Sal's campaign where you had to help a Jake to make some deliveries on a oshnu. At the end he said that he was buying a ticket to Pearl On The Foam to get into snail racing- Love how parts of a character's campaign are foreshadowed by another campaign.

I can't get over how pretty it looks. The artists pour so much detail into the backgrounds, they're amazing :love-struck:

These new folks are called "luminiciates" according to the files.

Still poking around the lua files to see what else changed. Will report back if I find anything interesting

Edit: so, Tei's new mission for Smith! It's doesn't seem to be complete yet but here's what we have so far:

Spoiler

The Cult's been recruiting a lot—like, a lot and some of these new recruits aren't up to snuff. Here's what Tei wants Smith to do:

        agent:
Go pull the recruits out of whatever hole they've crawled into, and take 'em to the beach.
There are reports of Krill coming ashore.
If they can survive that battle, they deserve to stay.
        player:
Why would they listen to me?
        agent:
It's their sacred duty to return threats to the sea. That should be enough.
        player:
            ...
        agent:
I don't know. Tell them I sent you. Or threaten them with physical violence. You're supposed to be good at these things.

"You're supposed to be good at these things." Oh my god she knows him lol

The recruit's freeloading at a diner, quite literally because they ordered an expensive meal and are refusing to pay for it.

From what I can see, Smith can pay for the meal, convince the proprietor to donate the meal to the cult, convince the recruit to pay for the meal, fight the recruit to force them to come along, or kill the recruit (but why aksjdakhsd)

Edit 2: PIANO PIANO PIANO

Wow. This just looks amazing. Thanks Klei for creating such amazing environments!

(Also, why is Pearl On The Foam's sky red?)

6 minutes ago, watermelen671 said:

Because the environment said Smith on it...and I figured I'd use the SMITH background for all Smith related Smithings. :wilson_ecstatic:

Maybe they're going to do special sky effects with the red? Similar to the masking technique with  their animated shorts.

Oh, I was just wondering why the Smith background itself is red, not why you used them! :D

image.png.76c45416b76ca46d02b3dc534a2f337e.png OH BOY NOW WE LIVIN' LARGE

Very excited to see Havarian high life in contrast to the abject lower-class misery of Murder Bay and Grout Bog.

With the complexity of the layering and effects added to make the final backgrounds, it is quite likely that the skies of Pearl-On-Foam are not red. They could be, though. Maybe Smith only gets out of bed at sunset or something.
